Wow got onto a few there al I’m not a massive fan of the live scope as a cod fishermen I see many fish caught using it but I think it’s honestly making it harder to catch fish just blind casting now cheers mate love how you show all things fishing
live scoping is cheating...........its decimating the US bass scene...not a fan at all....hook worm sinker and a bit of luck is what fishing is about.
Well he's in australia mate
@@volxtix3198 so you learn from others mistakes...........if its fucked fishing where its established,it will fuck it here too...
Very cool vid, personally l'd love to have live scope, l'm in Portland and if l travelled Melbourne way l'd want to maximise my time. Thanks for coming to the Hooked On festival, l had my granddaughter so couldn't hang around long, l only subscribed a week ago and loving your channel, tight lines.
would love to see some more landbased content around the eastern Melbourne suburbs
Now trying to figure out how to install live scope on my kayak 😂 that's an insane session mate; gotta be stoked with that!
An amazing vid to start the new year🎉
So glad you enjoyed it; yeah, it's a great start to the year and the next episode to come is even better.
I love using the live scope on my mates boat its heaps of fun.
Yeah, The technology is so good, amazing what it teaches you about your retrieves and how fish respond.
So, do you ever keep one?
Each to his own. I'm a bit of a traditionalist and enjoy the challenges angling presents me. But, on the other hand hi tech is here and, here to stay for those who want it. Traditionalist or not, my car has ABS and traction control.😊
hey Alan glad to see your back. have you made any videos kayak fishing off the Gellibrand shoal? what sort of soft plastics/bait should you use off there?
Yes, I fish there regularly awesome spot for snapper and salmon. I fish there on my kayak and boat. This was filmed there last year ua-cam.com/video/mwxQJj67t9k/v-deo.html 3" and 4" soft plastics on 1/8 go great. Keitech easy shiner, turtlebackworms that sort of stuff
Hey Alan great vid was just wondering if the water quality good enough to eat the fish?
Sorry but this is no longer fishing, this is watching a screen, taking all the skill out of it and in reality the fun aspect of fishing, not knowing when you get a strike. Like playing a game with cheat codes, like watching a movie already knowing the ending.
Cool. Let him do him and you do you.
Spotted the guy with no fish in the boat!
Thanks, I understand completely. I've done about 300 episodes on the channel and this is the very first episode showing Live Scope or Active Target. On the channel, I always endeavour to show different locations, techniques and gear with an open mind simply to share what's being used within the fishing scene and how to get the best out of it. I expected very mixed results showing live scope or active target but wanted to showcase another form of fishing which, whether we like it or not, is being widely used these days, especially by anglers targeting cod. It certainly changes how you fish, spending more time staring at the screen as opposed to fishing of intuition, which I have always done. I had so many years on the kayak and boat with no sounder at all, so its good to explore the opposite spectrum. Again just showing the different forms of fishing and its capability. Thanks for watching and supporting.
@@fishingmad all good Al, wasn't directed at you, more around tech taking over everything and although it makes things easier, it can also ruin lots of things too.
All G, understand completely. Thanks
Fishing might be good in Melton but I'd be pretty fucked off when my cars been stolen when I return to the ramp.
@@tj323i 😂😂😂
Unfortunately, car thefts and insane littering have been an issue down there for a very long time. I was doing some consulting for the council/government for the spot and was really pushing for more stocking as well as the introduction of paved carpark, security cameras, picnics tables etc, but nothing has changed, just a lot of money spent on investigating the situation which is a waste.
I live near Melton, So im gonna give this reservoir a red hot. I dont have any fancy gear to find the fish tho lol
Plenty of fish in there and I have spent 20 years fishing there land based and by kayak so fancy gear is nice but certainly not required
Fishing out of a setup like this is a bit of a upgrade over the kayak. Xmas 2025 or bday upgrade? 😂
I never quite understood the kayak fishing that people still trailer around. I guess you can launch near anywhere but once your in a boat or even a jetski the fishing experience is so much safer and easier. Most locations are a 15min boat ride at 40kmph and 90% of the time there is fish less than 2km from the ramp if you look.
A jetski episode would be a interesting prospective. Thise things can do 100kmph 😳
Are you allowed to boat in melton res now ?
Hi Allan how do you launch your boat there is there a boat ramp I live15 minutes from there in melton
Need to be a member of the melton speedboat and runabout club, on the exford side. They have a ramp there
Can I ask a question where should I fish I live in Werribee and I'm willing to go 2 hours away where should I fish
We got from Geelong to Apollo bay and Williams town all the way around to Frankston.
So many good spots have a look here fishingmad.com.au/locations some options ( saltwater ) Port phillip werribee, campbells, altona, geelong or ( freshwater ) metlon res, pykes creek, barwon river, maribrynong,
@@fishingmad if U don't mind me asking what river do U recommend to fish in right now
Hi Alan, could you or anyone in the audience recommend any good landbased spots to throw a line in or cast a few lures from thats easy to get to with a car as id like to check this reservoir one day, cheers
Melton res you can drive down to the lake at the end of Clarkes Road, otherwise more user friendly spots would be places like cunningham pier, Barwon river like this ua-cam.com/video/6pg9WZeBzmQ/v-deo.html Lorne Pier This link might be helpful fishingmad.com.au/locations
Not a fan of these at all.
Just enabling people to come strip fish entire zones with ease instead of the thrill of the chase.
But none the less thanks for showing it and another video.
Is this open to the public now? Where do you launch the boat?
Need to be a member of the Melton Speed and runabout club on the exford side for access.
Hi me and my mate make fishing vids. love for you to give us tips
Its a lot of work to pull these vids together, these ones are a day on the water, quite a few cameras, mics and drones and about 30 hours editing. My best advice is have fun with the process, enjoy the moments out filming. Always look at your own work with an open mind so you can improve and always think of the viewers experience. Try and keep the video smooth and audio clear, but again just have fun with it. Hope that helps and look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.
I could be wrong but doesn't Lowrance use Active Target whilst Garmin calls this technology Live scope?
100% correct, thats my error. Garmin = Live Scope, Lowrance = Active Target and other brands have other marketing terminology. I've been doing so much with sounders lately and just got my wires twisted, thanks
Love your work but I hate the scope scene. Not sporting in my opinion, and turning fishing even more into an eletist sport.

I’m probably just salty because I don’t have one!
Hello me fish today me no fish :(
