- We asked Mexican dads to try 'white people tacos!' 🌮
'White people tacos' are loved by many, but what do our Mexican dads think of the non-traditional take on the classic Mexican dish?
They tried Doritos Nacho Cheese walking tacos and hard shelled tacos filled with Old El Paso seasoned ground beef topped with mild Ortega taco sauce!

Black folks came up with the walking Taco not white folks

I grew up on white people tacos. For the first 18 years of my life, between taco bell and what my mom made, I thought that was mexican food and I loved it. Then when I was in the Marine Corps I had authentic mexican food for the first time, my life was changed and there was no going back- white people tacos were ruined for me forever. Cilantro, onion, lime juice, and salsa verde on a corn tortilla with either barbacoa, lengua, or carnitas... The best
I don't know man... I'm white but my wife is Mexican and "white people" tacos and Mexican tacos are both good in different ways. We generally mix and match authentic and "white people" ingredients and they are the best of both worlds. I will admit that Valentina smokes Ortega though and it's not even close.
Boom son! I learned what real Mexican cooking was stationed at Nellis AFB. There is no substitution
thank u for ur service!
I will say joinin the army changed my taste buds too, growin up with barely any food i had the same mentality, minus cilantro tastes like soap
they are stolen culture
I'm Mexican, and I enjoy one of these from time to time. So sue me.
💯💯💯
ewww no
I mean, I'm pretty sure you also eat sausages from time to time. Maybe even a hotdog with a bun? That is far from authentic. Most people don't go all in with dry aged brats from a link, air smoked and then simmered in a bed of freshly fermented sour kraut, smothered in a peppered dill mustard. With a side of radish soup. I highly doubt you've ever eaten raw pork and onion on a sour dough bread either. Point being, there are mass marketed, commercialized versions of all sorts of cultural cuisines. I enjoy these kinds of tacos as well as often eating hotdogs. Despite hotdogs being a crappy low rent version of my culture's actual food. But to be fair, I'd rather have my moms hot slaw, brats and beer bread over a regular hotdog. But ehh...who has time for that shit.
@@Spartucus101 I dont eat taco bell or hotdogs
Arturo acting saltier than a bag of Doritos is giving me life 😆 👏🏽👏🏽

The one in the black shirt is so d*mn fine! I swoon over him in every video he's in.
Growing up in LA my Chicano friends and I used to make walking Tacos after school. We would go to 7-11 get a bag of Doritos or Fritos and add the chili and cheese from the nachos and onions and tomatoes from the hot dog toppings.
Damn!! Why didn’t I ever think of that! That woulda been tops over chiccarones with Valentina, but was probably a bit more.😂😂
Walking tacos are fun, convenient, and minimal clean-up. 👍
great for grade school or high school basketball and football games.
i think they are called Nachos. lol
That's a taco salad or a taco in a bag.
@@StonerKitchennope lol
@@TheMrCC21taco salad is in a bowl or plate, walking taco is usually either Fritos corn chips or Doritos and you add the ingredients directly into the bag
I died at the papas reacting to Keith from Lewburger/Try Guys’s white people taco night song.
You can knock it, but it’s easy and good. You put whatever amount of whatever you want on it. Doesn’t compare to street or real Mexican tacos.. but it’s good.
The Mexican restaurant Mitla Cafe inspired Taco Bell's hard-shell tacos. The cafe's menu added tacos in 1951, and their kitchen staff would stuff ground beef into corn tortillas, deep fry them, and top them with cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Mitla Cafe's hard-shelled ground beef taco is listed as "Taco" in the "A La Carte" section of the menu, where diners can specify "hard-shelled" and "ground beef".
Hard shell tacos are likely an adaptation of tacos dorados, a traditional Northern Mexican dish of soft tortillas that are rolled or pinched shut and fried until crispy. In the early 20th century, crispy tacos became popular in California and Texas immigrant communities, and some Mexican chefs patented devices to help shape and fry tortillas into hard taco shells.
@@2apocalypsex that’s awesome.. but that kinda means it’s Mexican food.
I live within a rock throw of the place that created the chimichanga. I won’t dare say that’s American though.
I'm Black, and I absolutely love white people tacos. I didn't know that's what you called them, but when I first ordered authentic Mexican tacos, I was surprised at how different it was from what I was used to. It's still very delicious and sumptuous, but I'd still never skip out on white people's tacos ever.

That song is crazy 😂
Im White and have NEVER put olives on tacos, nor has anyone I know. And we don't use the ortega sh*t either. I chop onion, tomato and cilantro up and mix together in a bowl with salt, pepper garlic and green chilies and let sit for like an hour. That's my veg. I know that's White but its good AF too. lol
Was about to say the same thing, never even heard of anyone putting olives on a taco. lol
I grew up on tacos with olives on them.
ive never heard of olives on tacos either kinda sounds nasty
It's a bizarre thing that you find in cookbooks and potluck recipes from the 1970s and 1980s. My grandma had a friend whose signature potluck dish was called "enchilada casserole" and was even less authentic than White People Tacos, and sliced black olives were a key ingredient.
I don't know who thought, "We use taco seasoning, which is somewhat salty, and put everything in what's essentially a giant salted corn chip. What we need is ANOTHER salty ingredient, but maybe one that's a briny kind of salty instead of regular salty," but they were clearly crazy. That said, I do sometimes enjoy olives on my nachos.... LOL
I put them on wet burritos
We may ah e started it but it should be called American tacos. I grew up in the hood and everyone that wasn’t Hispanic had these. That said we also had the good stuff because the authentic restaurants near us delivered for cheap prices
That's a good point. I think American tacos is more accurate.
It's the same as what we've done with Italian and Chinese food.
Anyone saying those white peokle tacos aren’t good are biased stubbornly. Maybe not the best, maybe not great. But, bad? No. It’s a good taco.
You're right. Being of Mexican descent, I can honestly say that sometimes, maybe once or twice a year, I get a craving for white people tacos. I wouldn't go as far as to call them tacos, but they're good for what they are. Maybe salad in a shell? 😂
@@elizabethcastillo274 exactly.
@@elizabethcastillo274 Maybe folded tostada?
So often people get hung up on whether something is authentic and not whether it's good, there are plenty of foods that are only vague facsimiles of something else, either because they were attempts to make that thing but having to use what was locally available OR through convergent culinary paths (eg lots of cultures have a form of pastry stuffed with savoury or sweet fillings. Samosas, Empanadas, Cornish Pasties, Pierogi, Gyoza etc etc because it's just a super convenient form factor for a meal on the go.) but are pretty good in their own right, these things get hammered for the lack of authenticity and really it's just a naming/branding issue rather than anything fundamental to the dishes themselves.
Na not really but its your story will let you tell its
So when will the Papah singalong videos start? A little Tapatio instead of ball to bounce above the words to help us keep up. 😂
I always make my tacos like this, I didn't know people called them white people tacos lol
Right? I guess black people don't eat them?
Never in my days, will I put olives in a taco, everything else sure. But OLIVES?
i would say lettuce is a worse sin
A Mexican restaurant where I live made these special monterreys with green olives that were so freaking good! Now I always put green olives in my taco meat! I know it sounds odd but it's delicious!
@@sarajuanaict 😭 im just not a fan of them to be fair, seems wilds still but could be a good a idea like that
@@KamiyadaGGsame idk i can’t do it 😭

The main buzzfeed dude Keith still is unrecognizable lol. These uncles crack me up 😂 I loooooooove Mr. Beard, keep bringing them back.
I love all tacos whether they be authentic or Tex-Mex, and I get how some think the black olives is a strange addition. But to me it is reminiscent of the Mexican Pizza and other Taco Bell products that used to have olives, which I was all about that. Loved that the Lewberger song was in this also! 🤩
No. Anything BUT olives
Teberio was having way too much much fun in this episode! Love it
As a Mexican I can enjoy the Taco Bell style tacos but more as like a snack like enjoying some chips, I never eat it as a meal, its simple, not much flavor, but the crunch is nice, but of course I don’t compare it to an actual taco, real tacos are a meal you will be so satisfied after eating them.
we all love some white people tacos from time to time especially after a night of drinking 😂
I thinks it’s so funny that when my grandmother comes to visit the US from Guadalajara the first thing she is always excited to eat is Taco Bell.
i always add canned refried beans, and some pickled jalapenos and onions, with sour cream, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, and hot valentina, some like my mom like adding olives, also some soft flour tortilla for some burritos too
Omg I'd never thought we would see Keith and the Papahs in the same video 🤣😭 have them go on a future Eat the Menu!!
These 2 types of Tacos cant even be compared. They are both good in their own light.
As a white boy who grew up in Cali and now lives in Oregon this video had me down right cackling 😂 I miss really good Mexican food it's so hard to find here.
Tacos al pastor are My favorites ❤❤❤❤
I grew up in DC in the 70's and that was my first taco. I moved to LA in '98 and my mind was 🤦♂. A year later I went to Rosarito, Mexico and 🤯. I can count on one hand how many times I've had 'White People Tacos' since. 😁
hmm, they missed the raw onions and black olives.😂😂😂
What? Who does that lol
@@cody3335 They’re standard where I grew up. Of course we also often subbed spaghetti sauce for salsa, so you know we’re complete barbarians.
@@eirreniaraw onions are for traditional Mexican tacos. Authentic Mexican tacos are topped with diced raw onion and cilantro
@@trinidad510 Not saying they aren’t on traditional tacos, just that they are _also_ a part of the usual homemade “white people taco” options, at least in the region I grew up in.
Walking tacos are usually made at sporting events and festivals.
I always think of walking tacos as like fair food, or something I would have at a graduation party or potluck lol
I might try that "walking taco" idea. Reminds me of a dish they do in the New Mexico where they add spicy chili and cheese to a bag of Fritos. It's like 2 days worth of sodium in 1 bag though.
These guys are so much fun. ❤
I am here as a white person to say, yes, yes we love sour cream.
😂
crema 😀
not Keith from the Try Guys 😭😭
walking tacos are just fancy frito pie
Walking tacos are mostly made with the individual size bag of Doritos not the full size bag.
These videos are always so cute. Just seeing how they react. 😊
When Did This Become The "White People" Way?
It hasn't, but this is 2024 and media puts little racialisms and disjointed characteristics on people's culture to create a false narrative.
Best episode ever! lol
Every Mexican food place in central Texas!
I can hear bells 😂😂
Ever had a Black Folks Taco? 🌮.. Their kinda like the White Boy Tacos, but they use Ground Turkey seasoned with them Taco seasoning packets. There not bad. There also was a Africano who made a name for himself in South Central who would sell Tacos, Burritos, & Nachos from his front yard driveway. Dude had a Line of people waiting for his food. Never tried them but it must have been Good because he made the TV News Channels.
Keith Garrett of All Flavor, No Grease started out selling from his house, but he also has a food truck now too. I believe I first heard of him from a Netflix show on Tacos or food and I'd risk it, as a white man, to go to South Central to try that delicious food.
I'd think you'd be ok going to South Central to eat. I've seen plenty of White Folks eating at popular food joints in South Central. There's a very popular Hamburger Spot called "Hawkins House of Burgers" in Watts across the street from one of the most Violent Housing Projects in Los Angeles, and I've seen White people there every time I go. Just be yourself, be polite and respectful to everyone. Don't alienate yourself from enjoying life because of the color of your Skin. People are changing, like I said, just Be Yourself you'll be fine. @@jskelly1979

I didn't know That Title existed & The Thumbnail Made me Laugh!
Nacho cheese got its name back when the Texas/Mexico boarder was not well defined. One day a Texas ranger rode into a border town. He had been out on range all week and was hungry. It was Sunday and everything was closed. He saw a Mexican man with a big hat over his face taking a nice ciesta. He had a block of cheese next to him. The ranger was so hungry but didnt want to disturb the man so he broke off a pice of cheese and left more money than the cheese was worth. The man woke up and chased after the ranger in a heavy Mexican accent yelling, "Hey, man, that's notch yo cheese, that thats not-ch yo cheese!" And the name stuck. True story.
The one in the bag looks good. Reminds me of a Taco Salad from back in the day.🌮
they are nachos. lol
Reminds me of a hotdog spot that used to be near me. Dude served chili cheese doritos is the little bag you give a kid in their lunch. Game changer. MIss that spot, the chili was fire
The first dad with the Tijuana T-shirt says Picante and close captions give you McCormick. The next time he says the word picante CC gives you piccone or something like that. Lol.
I like that they appreciated them for what they were. OF COURSE it's not authentic. I mean I mostly grew up on this but my mom had Mexican friends and when we'd visit I'd get to have the real stuff. I love both but see them differently. And I love how these guys are so obviously dads.
😂😂😂 “ i hear campanas 🔔, Taco Bell “❤
I've worked with a lot of first generation Mexican immigrants over the years, and some of them made ground beef tacos. Now I wouldn't say most of them used store bought sauces and salsa
We even got a Dad joke
He really said Lewberger looks like a bunch of nerds 😂
I haven't had white people tacos in 25 years. Hard shells are so fun!
I gotta try that last one.
The only place black olives belong is in the trash
Funny stuff.
I love it when the multi languages come out of nowhere some of the regular Pappahs that normally are Spanish speaking only.
Lazy Tacos...very accurate description. I do keep it simple if I don't feel like cooking. Beef with the seasoning, shredded cheese, then some hot sauce. I'm not talking vinegar-based Texas Pete or Tobasco. I'm talking something like El Yucateco Kutbil-Ik XXXtra Hot Habanero Sauce. But my favorite would be their Black Label Reserve. Not their hottest sauce at 4,500-5,500 Scoville, but flavor stands out. The char on the peppers adds to the smoky flavor of the sauce.
The most authentic Mexican food I have seen is big Latinas eating rotisserie chicken at Starbucks without utensils.
It’s always good to try all things taco!
Walking tacos are super popular here in Iowa haha. Every ballpark has them and football parties etc
Chicago people BEEN eating cheese (liquid), ground beef, with chips (your favorite) and peppers for years. I'm 36 I remember getting that as a teenager. You go to a gas station or a corner store to get it. Never with sour cream, or olives, or anything other toppings and if the store forgets to give you a fork or you are walking and have to get on the bus, you push it up and eat off the top, just don't put your mouth on the bag. Don't forget your drink!
White people taco night song is kinda addictive.
Really... "White People Tacos" =_= Sounds like this is a buzzfeed video.
I grew up on these tacos with my mom. And when I was with my dad I had authentic tacos. I guess the best of both worlds. When I make tacos I use carne asada, but once in great while my kids ask for "white people" tacos.
I’m bc a white folk, but love carne asada on corn tortillas. Cilantro, onion and pico de gallo with a little green salsa…..home made.
My dad is from Los Mochis and he doesn't mind one every now and then
What's wrong with the first version minus the olives. I actually like the Ortega sauce flavor. It's not spicy or whatever but taste is decent
You are bringing me back to my white NJ person taco days. It was a cheap, nutritious meal my mom could make for a husband and 6 kids and limited income. Only difference I do is my own taco seasoning.
Never heard of a walking taco until I moved to PA.
We’ve always fried our own flour tortillas for taco shells
"I'm moving my little butt!" 😂😂😂
These tacos were my pregnancy craving!!! Still one of my favorite foods. I do put Tapatío and jalapeños on top.
White people tacos, always appreciate Buzzfeed racism.
Just another woke content creator. They were quizzing them on black history while eating soul food lol.
I'm not white and its not even necessary. It's cringe, lame, and childish. Just found this channel to.
Walking tacos are such a guilty junk food pleasure. Of course a really good traditional steak taco is better. But the speed, convenience, and MSG put up a good fight!
Please have them taste Cajun foods like chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice, and jambalaya
I make my own seasoning due to way to much salt with the store bought. I like my food very spicy.
Tiberio is cracking me up here y'all lmao
I remember doing to Mexico on vacation. I had my first real taco. Omg, I was shocked how good it was, and I was angry that I had been lied to about what Mexican food was.
Even Mexican restaurants in the state where I live don't taste like the food I had in Mexico.
This is how my family does taco night except we have the soft shell option and never black olives
Tacos are one of the most perfect food creations ever made and it's hard to mess it up. Take a taco shell soft or crunchy and fill it with whatever you want. Boom how could that not be good. Mexico you created food so great that even white people couldn't ruin it.
ya need refried beans too

I tuned in for this laugh. I knew they eere about to cut up. I get mad at myself everytime i through some together 😭. But I do spend my money at authentic Mexican restaurants for the good tacos. I need the freshness of it all
I've never been to Mexico. I've had street tacos in LA. I've had street tacos in Seattle.
Being...White, Taco Bell tacos are what we had when it was taco night.
I grew up on Japanese tacos, where my mom mixed white rice in the taco and added some shake (salmon)
This makes me reminisce... About a grocery store back in South Chicago, called "El Guero". It wasn't Guero at all.
there is a place up here in ohio called Hothead. they sell walking tacos. they use fritos instead of doritos.
These gentlemen are awesome… much love to them all.. we love our white peoples tacos but we salute where they come from every time ❤❤
