    I shaved the right side of my hair about a year ago. I loved it while it was shaved, but now I'm in the awkward phase of growing the section out 😩 I don't think I will ever do it again lol.. But I was definitely a cool experience.

    Giiirrrrrl I cut my hair in October it was fun, easy and cute until it hit this awkward stage. I've been in protectives styles for the past 2mths.

      +Mrs _ Watkins2u LOL, it's that awkward stage man! I'm dreading it, but excited because I want to figure out how to still rock my hair in a funky style.

    This video explains everything that I'm going through right now! I've cut my hair twice since my big chop and I'm at the point where I'm over it lol. The only good point, like you said, it's quick to style even when you don't want to do it. Great points!

    Well there's always wigs for when you want long hair. When I'm not wearing my natural hair out I'm always in a wig

    I just got a tapered pixie and i loooove it. I think I might keep my hair like this forever. I would love to wear wigs every once and a while but people always judge me cause I’ve never done that before and there’s huge stereotypes in my area that only black women can pull it off.

    Great video. I got on the tapered cut band wagon as well. It was super cute and sassy but I quickly wanted my hair back. I almost recommend getting a lace wig and tapering first to see if it is for you.

    I thought everyone new when you go really short & you let it grow out there is the awkward stage.. Just like when ppl relax or perm their hair...

      MOST people do know when a short Relaxed or Natural Style grows out like a Big chop there's an Awkward stage. A lot don't think about it before cutting it all off. That's why l moved on to another channel after the first minute.

    Thanx for speaking on this! I had grown my hair out and loved it. Then I got the "cut it bug". I cut it and I wished I hadn't. SO thanx, it's nice to know I'm not the only one.

    Very helpful vid. Thank you. I’ll be cutting mine in a few weeks because of some very bad ends on my crown, which means that I have to go lower on the back and sides. Which is a shame because I was truly getting tired of dealing with short hair. But alas, as you said, it will grow back....

    Me too 😣. I got tired of combing ny hair and decided to get a tapered cut, now I can't find a barber or hairdresser. I will just be patient.

    I love your cut. I have the same cut. And you are right, different parts grow at different rates. I usually cut the curls that seem out of place. Its become a pet peeve on of mine lol. Even watching the video, there were 4 curls on your cut that were way long. I was sitting here biting my nails like man I wish I had scissors to just trim then things lolll Don't mind me. I have an obsession for perfection. The cut fits you well. Keep it up 😍
    Thank you for sharing

    I like the grow back on you
    You look cute
    I cute my long natural hair into a tapered cut
    I couldn’t breath w long hair anymore
    Never had a cut
    Minus half shaving for my mom who had breast cancer
    What they don’t tell you🤔
    My curls with long hair is different than my curls w short hair
    Trying to get the back to flow
    (Bcuz I kept a lot of my length in the front)
    It takes forever for my hair to dry
    Finding my flow of how I want it to look
    Can’t put it in a ponytail on crappy hair days
    Pros
    I feel edgy
    Something new
    It grows back super fast
    ( I haven’t touched it bcuz I had surgery for about a month. I already had a mini fro where it was tapered)
    Stand out
    Thanks for sharing

    I have locs and I'm going to miss them, because I love my locs. But I want something different and I want the taper cut. When I grow my locs back out I'm just going to start them with the faux goddess locs and as my hair get longer I'll cut them out. I already grew my locs naturally to armpit length so I'm not opposed to starting them again, but using some fake hair, because I want immediate length.

    Currently growing out my tapered cut. I think I've reached my awkward stage because twist-outs don't look the same anymore, plus I still have some heat damaged ends. :/ gonna throw some braids in soon!

    • @MinimisshairCrystal
      @MinimisshairCrystal  8 років тому +1

      +Sydni Cunningham Protective styling is awesome! I would trim off the damaged ends when you get a chance, and feel comfortable. Once I did that, and my hair took on a life of it's own, and my curls were alive again!

  • @SawyerrsHouse
    @SawyerrsHouse 8 років тому +8

    Hey there. One con is that one may have to do 2 different methods on the different lengths eg finger coils on the shorter part and twist on the longer part. Another con is that it takes just as long to do the aforementioned style compared to someone with longer and an untapered cut. All in all, I still love my tapered cut though.

    • @MinimisshairCrystal
      @MinimisshairCrystal  8 років тому

      +Sawyerrs' House That is so true, I didn't even think of that!. I do have to style my shorter side a lot differently then the longer side. I know the cut allows me to save on time, because my hair was just getting to long... but natural hair in general requires work... lol but I love my curls!

    • @melissaboone7858
      @melissaboone7858 8 років тому +1

      That's not a con! Finger coils are so much quicker and easier to do than twists. If you make ten small twists and the restate finger coils then I consider that a pro.

    I decided NYE that I'd cut my hair off for the new year. I went to the hair cuttery and got butchered LOL. I later went in and re-cut it myself, and I was feeling it for a week then I got bored! I've been in protective styles since January.
