@@justwhisky ah, I see what you meant. The old 10, I scored it an 84. I’m fairly generous with my scores. I have only ever bought one bottle and it was years ago so I never kept a sample. So basically the 12 is a bit more nuanced and slightly better but more expensive. If I find an old version I’ll consider getting it for the “archives”. Or better yet, a sample or sample pack.
Hi John. Excellent comparison and congrats on the 2k milestone. You deserve it and more. I agree with your tasting notes on these. I think the new 12 is more expressive and a bit bolder. But I also think the 10 has a bit more of an edge, is a bit more nuanced and I probably prefer it by a narrow margin. Both are good but the 12 is becoming a more modern and oak driven profile IMHO. Curious: do you have Glenmorangie Triple Cask Reserve over there? It's a newish NAS Glenmo that's pretty good and goes on offer at around £20 over here. Thanks for recommending me to Whiskey Vault. Really means a lot. Cheers 🥃
Congratulations on the 2k subs, John. Fully deserved for your honest, thoughtful reviews and occasional "not-whisky" commentary.👍
@@jbar6284 thanks so much!
Not Whisky sounds like a great name… don’t give me any ideas 🤣

I’m about to watch. I believe you’re the first to do the side by side. Thanks for the video.
@@SaltyCuban hopefully helpful 🤷♂️
But maybe convoluted 😳

@ yeah you can probably still find sample packs… I loved the old Glenmo 10… especially back then for @ $35.
Hard not to love.

Probably won’t get it for those reasons.

Agreed ! the auld GMO-10 has a very THICK nose . . . the 1980's version is even THICKER-er-er-er . . ..

The volume of the old 10 year could be why it looks lighter, need to be same volume of liquid to really compare the color.

I bought a full box of The Original.
