Got my hands on 2 bottles for $92 a piece before they sold out in Sweden, and it’s worth every penny, it’s amazing, exciting and not to sweet. Best Swanson edition yet.
Definitely one of the best in my opinion. The crown is still with the Guinness Cask, although I may be biased since I love that stout beer. I’ve tried all Offerman Editions and this one is one I will buy more if given the opportunity at a good price. Enjoy.
I've had Teeling small batch, which is pretty good, especially for the price. Tried the Tullamore Dew rum cask which was "meh". Ardnamurchan rum cask is good. Haven't see the Lagavulin one here in my market. Cheers!
Nice review. I was at the Lagavulin Distillery this summer and there were a couple of Offerman editions - and I 'm pretty sure this was one of them, but the price tag was around 200 £, so I passed. Instead I bought an NAS distillery exclusive, matured in heavily charred casks, it is a stunner (and was only 125£) 😉 Cheers
I paid about $80 in Chicago area, not my favorite. I preferred the prior 3 releases, esp the first bourbon barrel one and the Guinness finished. Rum finishes always throw me a a bit. The sugar note for me is not something I generally like. But all in all this was better than most rum finished Scotches that I’ve had. Great review, cheers!
Thanks for reviewing Geoff Have miraculously managed to miss all the Offerman expressions, and you know what? That was darn easy as I never searched for it. Enough great other stuff in the cabinet. Slàinte mhath
Lol even the peaty stuff? No interest? I know you're notoriously difficult to please, but I'd have though these releases (fine, maybe not the rum one), would be more your speed. Oh, well. 😉🥃
@Gwhisky yep even the peaty stuff. Have had several team building sessions with my wallet, but it still says "No". And to be fair, given the lack of space in the cabinet the wallet has a point...
Hi Geoff great review, must admit I skipped this one. Was not blown away by the former release with the extra charred oak. So turned the offer down when being asked by my alcohol dealer. Maybe I was wrong......
Glad you like it dude! I love rum influence with peated whisky, not so much with unpeated so this one hit the spot for me. Overall though my favourite is still the Charred Oak. Cheers my friend!
Rum works at teeling small batch. Haven't tried any other whiskey with rum cask. Sadly Lagavulin is crazy expensive here. Especially Laga 8, which costs 80€. Thanks for the review 😊
Missed the first Offerman Edition, but have the last 3. The Guinness has been my favorite, but the Caribbean Rum Edition is pretty good. I'm generally not one to go for celebrity brands, but this one tends to run much better than most other celebrity bottles-the videos are fun too. I commented about not liking most celebrity brands when we did a tasting at the warehouse at Lagavulin with Iain McArthur in 2022 (great tasting in the warehouse-he was one of the more entertaining people we had for tastings on our tours) and that I thought Offerman did a good job picking the whisky. Iain commented that Offerman had nothing to do with it. :-) Whether or not, they seem much more consistent and interesting bottles than most celebrity brands.
Thanks again for this review. I had this at this year's Feis Ile along with the oysters at their Distillery Day. Great combo but I first took a sip before I tasted the oyster-whisky combo. 2nd sip was with the oysters and that was quite spectacular. Very pleasant stuff!
Great review Geoff. I have all of the Offerman editions in my collection & like you Lagavulin is one of my absolute favourites! Almost makes me want to go and open this one. Almost.
Great review Geoff! I picked up a bottle of this and I’m not crazy about it. Personally I prefer the 8 over this but I know many people really are into it.
That's fair. The rum influence isn't exactly gentle, so if those flavours aren't working for you this won't be able to compete with the 8, which is also a beautiful whisky. Cheers! 🥃
'left me deeply satisfied' is what my GF used to say. Thanks for the review, I have a bottle stashed away. May need to get another one to actually drink. Cheers
I was very skeptical about this one. I like the sweet and peat of many sherry finished whiskies but rum sounded like something that would clash. It was cheap at Costco, I actually got it under the Taiwan price, and I love Lagavulin so it was worth a try. So glad I bought this. The balance is perfect. You get the Lagavulin flavors meshed with the rum in a perfect package. I went and bought several backup bottles while Costco had them.
I agree man, it shouldn't work but it does. It's an enjoyably different take on Lagavulin. Rum cask finishes are always suspect for me but this one worked. Cheers buddy 🥃
Nice review my friend! Not a fan of this one to be honest. But hey more bottles for the ones who like it 😁 Lagavulin 8 is still my favorite ❤ #nopantsreviews Cheers 😎🥃🥃🎩
Well I’m not sure if this gets through. A have a bottle from the Czech Republic right now and it’s called Goldcock peated and I love it. It checks a lot of boxes for me
Hmm, I have some trepidation here. Tried Tullamore Dews Rum cask finish and found it way too sweet, but obviously a different animal. Its on sale nearby for $100 cdn which is pretty cheap relative to the rest of the Lagavulin line up...
Got it in a Colorado Costco for ~$80. I felt they just took the leftover stock from the 2023 Offerman charred oak smoke train and placed it in some rum casks, an the rum finish was an afterthought in my opinion, versus a symbiosis. Not bad, but not an improvement on last year's release...still props for the effort, but not the execution. ✌️
only tried glenlivit's version, and that bland house style got buried by cask to the point i'd just say it were a rum if had it blind. teeling irish is on my radar for the good price and good reviews. not the biggest rum fan though, so like you said probably does need the strong peat to stand up to it, and vice versa
My favourite Lag Offerman edition was the Charred Oak. This one would be my second favourite. The most disappointing was the Guinness finish--Lagavulin is my favourite Islay whisky and Guinness is my favourite beer so I figured it would be amazing... nope, was just bitter and relatively boring.
The charred oak was my favorite Offerman Edition so far, but the rum finish was good too. If not for the shameless (but effective on me) celebrity marketing tie-in, I would avoid Lagavulin on principle, due to their artificial coloring. I give them a pass on the Nick Offerman bottles.
Would you still consider this a good value at just under $100? That's how much I paid. This one got me to break my "no Diageo" rule, and I'm not entirely sure this one deserved to be the one to do that. It's good though.
A case??? Hah wow. I think I'm a big spender when I buy a single backup bottle! Hah. Great whisky, though, and definitely suits your preferences these days. Cheers Christine! 🥃
If it werent for parks and rec, offerman would be mothing. In real life hes a gd commie. He literally made a song about being a kamala man. But for somereason i keep buying them even though im a bourbon bro lol. Long live the real ron swanson... Ralphie reviews
Took a shot every time you said “cask influence”. I’m in the hospital now.
Thoughts and prayers. 🙏

My favourite release of the Offerman. Love this one.
Always look forward to the Lagavulin Offerman bottlings! Love that they are willing to try casks that are a little bit different.
Lovely stuff!

This bottle is what got me interested in scotch. I enjoyed it and the charred cask version. That sent me down the Islay rabbit hole.
Totally agree with you on rum casking especially with peat but really glad to hear that this one works… Lagavulin just don’t really miss!
Outstanding!
Yeah it's a good one. Hope to see you review it, buddy! Cheers! 🥃
I've tried this one, and while it didn't blow me away, I really did enjoy it. It's that classic Lagavulin with a twist!
I've had Teeling small batch, which is pretty good, especially for the price. Tried the Tullamore Dew rum cask which was "meh". Ardnamurchan rum cask is good. Haven't see the Lagavulin one here in my market. Cheers!
Delicious! The 3rd Offerman is my fave but this is right behind and I bought a case when it was released! Fabulous! Cheers!

Yeah, I agree. Chicago isn’t my favorite either. I feel ya.
Thanks for reviewing Geoff

No mystery pour to go along with the Lagavulin, must be before breakfast.
I realized that I keep getting distracted by the bottle of Dark Origins on the shelf in the background. Such a tease! :)))
Lol yeah that one's a banger. 🥃

$80/bottle at Costco in Phoenix, AZ. Completely agree with your review; this is a fantastic edition.
Great price! 🥃

Hope you enjoy! 🥃

Yeah took me by surprise, but at least a pleasant surprise. Cheers buddy! 🥃
Thx Boss G., for rumsk(e)y : no thx, you can keep them all !
Thanks for the review! I have the 2022 Release. was more expensive for me 😢. But was a good bottling . Cheers
Clicked like during the commercial.
It was a hemorrhoid cream commercial, wasn’t it?
@ no, it was one for a funeral parlour.
I always enjoy your videos . . . how about Clare Island Whiskey . . . Irish 🙂
Interesting. Sadly that one's not around in my market. I'll keep my eyes peeled, though. Cheers! 🥃
Came for the Lagavulin review, stayed for the pants ;-) Great review, Geoff!
Probably should double check the set, eh? 😂
@ Nah, gives it a cozy feel. I hope your move is going well.
So this means you weren't wearing pants while shooting the review? 😂 @Gwhisky
@@WhiskyWolf514 Wear pants while shooting? Like a crazy person? Nah, never.
fair enough 😂@@Gwhisky

I've had the 10 and the 20. Interesting brand! 🥃

I can't promise you'll like it, as it's pretty unlike anything else. But for the price I think it's worth the risk as I'm really enjoying mine. 🥃

Agree about the Charred Oak. Not many prefer it over the Guinness Cask, but I do too. Try blending the Rum with the Charred! 👍🏽
@@utoobia oh ya? I definitely will give that a shot, thanks for the idea!

I don't know where lagavulin sell their products..Here in my place , i never see anything other than 8,16 Which are also difficult to find lately
Ah that's a shame. They tend to come and go in terms of availability in a few markets, it seems. These Offermans used to be US exclusives. Cheers. 🥃
Balvenie Caribbean Cask?
I like the messy pile of clothes in the background, for once I can relate to your fancy successful expatriate self.
Literally didn't even catch that in the edit. Just noticed a few mins ago. 😂

Seriously though, what is the movement at 3:48 supposed to accomplish?
Nothing. It just for looking pretentious.
Oh. $135 before Canadian taxes. Discount on buying a case!

I’d have to rate this one as the weakest of the Offerman bottlings, from memory. Definitely not the best from Lagavulin.
