I definitely prefer the new Squiers over the new Fender Players. They really are great instruments. Thanks for the review.

Same here man. I got the p bass in lake placid blue with gold hardware. It's a awesome bass. It played great right out the box too. It's definitely up there against my fender player series. I might get this squier jazz soon too.

The key to a good bass is if it makes you want to pick it up and noodle every time you see it. The P and the Jazz have been alternating the guitar stand next to my nightstand. I end up picking it up for 5 minutes and an hour passed. If it inspires you to play, it’s a good instrument, and these 40ths inspire me to play.
I bet this influencers videos with good basses are longer than ones with bad basses….

    I love these basses.

That really does look beautiful. If anything, you could change the pickups to something like Seymour Duncan Antiquity II's and it would be an absolute killer bass.

Thanks, Belman, you're right about that!

don't.!!. the pickups on these are the greatest I've heard. ive owned Suhr, Sadowsky, Bartolini, SD's, Delano's etc. They are killer single coils and sound nothing like in this video. I can't stress this enough they are killer jazz bass pickups.

I agree with @Bubinga5, the stock pickups on this bass are surprisingly really good.

I've never had a problem with classic vibe Squier hardware , I actually like the gloss neck over the satin necks. I think that the $600 price tag is a bit much especially since a year and a half ago Fender player series basses were $ 674 and a Alder bodied.
Sire passive basses are Alder and about the same money.

Hey Michael, I haven't had a chance to try the Sire passive basses but I hear they're quite good.

1:14 - I think it is actually 1 1/2” width at the nut. But I’m sure you knew that 😉. Thanks for the review Bob. When reviewing some of these different basses we’d love to hear some back stories on the different jazz basses you’ve owned over the years and tidbits like that. Maybe a video on different bands and regular gigs you’ve had through the years .

Anyone considering a 40th Anniversary bass now that you can find them for as low as $300- JUST DO IT.

Fender made basses for decades all with gloss necks. All of a sudden people wanted bare necks that only cheap Chinese bases had at that time. I hate the oiled necks. Cheap!! You can’t beat a squire classic vibe for the real feeling of a true Fender vintage 60’s Jazz

I have some Squiers that sound better than some USA Fenders I've owned.

Hey Mikee, yeah, I was pretty impressed with both.

I ended up with both the LPB P-Bass and the Olympic White Jazz. I swapped the P pickup with a Les Claypool Pachyderm Gold active pickup and some cobalt flats…. And it sounded like a Jazz Bass with round wounds. I swapped them for the Deep Talkin Bass (yes, the gold ones!) and I’ll be playing every day after dinner to deaden those strings 😂😂😂 heck, after doing the lawn, changing the oil… just don’t wash just the left hand🤣🤣

    • @MainelyW212
      @MainelyW212 6 місяців тому

Oh, there’s no need to replace the pickup in the P-Bass. I did it for aesthetics 😂. Haven’t decided if I’m gonna throw in some DiMarzios (of course, gold) in the Jazz yet.
If I do… that means I must get the Jazz and P 40th Anniversary Vintage….😂

Great review! Was that jazz piece improvised? or do you have the music sheet? Sounded great, kinda like a neat warm up exercise.

Great demo, I have same bass and love it On mine the tone knob seems backwards, turned up like pickups is bass full on. Down is full treble, is yours the same? Thanks
