I am sure that you would have discovered Steven Osborne and Marc Andre Hamelin; both are recording artists of the greatest composer and performer, namely N Kapustin.
In my opinion, there's a lot of virtuosity but not a lot of refinement in this interpretation. It's too heavy. The Kapustin interpretation is probably the best, refined, light and detailed. Steven Osborne also plays it very well.

Yéti Génie unless you're a virtuoso of the highest rank don't even start on this piece! I know this well having listened many times to the excellent Steven Osborne version. I think Volodov's interpretation here is magnificent: clarity, rhythm, contrasts, expressiveness. We must have different ears.
A musician may change his mind, but this is how he feels about the piece when he plays it now? I enjoyed this performance a lot. Kapustin playing Kapustin is different from this. Isn't there much to learn from varied interpretations?
That's a lot of refinement, actually kind of too much... Great techniques as a classical pianist, but not necessarily good when you're playing the Jazz genre. Don't play Jazz music as Classical.
@@thepianocornertpc That's not strictly true many do. Gwylm Simcock or Hiromi for example would be able to play this if they put the work in. But this is not actually jazz as Kapustin has said.
If it sounds "the same throughout" for you, that's only because you were only able to remember the first few dozen measures, then your senses got overloaded. Too much stimuli. I hope you recover 👍🏻

Listen to other performances. Then you'll see just how good this one is.

But this is classical music. Practiaclly pure classical music, only the rythms and harmonies are shaped in Jazz.
