Ingredients
All Purpose Flour -1cup
Sugar-10tbsp
Baking Powder-1tsp
Baking Soda -1/2tsp
Salt-one pinch
Essence -2tsp
Melted Butter -1/4cup or oil
Egg - 2 or Curd -1/2cup
Milk-2tbsp
colour -opt
Method
Strain maida baking powder ,soda and salt together .
Beat egg well, to that add powdered sugar ,Butter ,essence and colour ..mix well..
Add this mix to the maida and mix well..Finally add milk and mix.
Pour this to a cake tin
Bake in low flame for 35-40 minutes
in oven 160 degree 35-40 minutes

Hi Veena, Thanks for sharing such wonderful recipe. For my first attempt, it came out very well. But there are few things..... It took more than 50 mins to cook completely and middle of the cake was still bit moist compare to the sides which was baked. Also the base was bit hard and crisp. Even the top color didn't change to a brown. Can u suggest what must have gone wrong.

It's so simple if we follow your instructions completely.. Anybody can make it with limited ingredients and facilities. I used a glass lunch box to bake instead of the cake tin.. It took me a little longer as the vessel was small and the cake batter was thickly filled.
I'm too happy since my husband who usually never appreciate any of my cooking experiments approved this cake and finished the whole cake yesterday evening itself!! 😍

++ Nearly made one feel suddenly lessss with a quiet head drop at the outset, by calling out that this recipe wld easily slide thro a kid's hand even.. But then as it progressed I realised that wasn't entirely true after all haha ! It sure does have its nuances and is best left to specialist hands surely. Made me feel cheerful again !
++ Tea Cakes are a marvellous English tradition ( High tea with a selection of cakes ) still popular amongst all classes ! And I guess those coloured fruit-bits would hv added to the munchiness n more of a look to those cut slices !
