I like the PJ design of the Beta II model. I had early on the spoon arm version and later the PJ model. I have them both now. I have several more of the PJ model now. It was an excellent design as it worked so well and smoothly and had a very steady pace. They definitely are not fast, but then they do not need to be. I never had one in a canister. Thank you for sharing it.
another sprinkler collector friend of mine found a craigslist ad and sent it to me that had the green case versions with the Alpha II head inside with the PJ tube. I tried to get the guy to sell and ship me one but he never got back to me. They were the Western Brassworks design heads, the U61-DP (I think P meant PJ tube arm). I think he wanted to sell the whole lot not just 1. I don't have that kind of cash to buy them all. I have only need for one. Unless I get them super cheap then I can resell them and keep 1 for myself. It's a shame.
Devin here, sorry for late notice of your comment. Hope you can reach out and offer a price higher than 50 dollars. these are pretty hard to find heads and the price may be enticing to the seller. I had to pay 70 for mine. I'm sure that's a lot than what the head was worth initially but I don't come across listings of these heads very often
I can tell that your sprinkler has a 5/32" nozzle by the color of the center cap. I have one of these with the red nozzle, but it has a yellow diffuser screw. It seems that these heads had either a black, yellow, or stainless screw.
I never looked into it, but as far as I know they used a color code that indicates the gpm of the head. They made 3 different types, Red, Green, and Black. As for the diffuser screw being different, I assume this was either a revamp in design or they had a commercial type that had stainless steel. These are really nices heads but interchangeable nozzles would've been nice.
Yeah, I wish that they had interchangeable nozzles too. I have a broken beta ii impact head that I am using for spare parts. All I could salvage was the bearing assembly, trip collars and trip pin. I tried to remove the nozzle but it wouldn’t budge. It had the red nozzle installed.
With some sprinklers where one would think the nozzle is glued in you could actually remove the nozzle, like on an Orbit Super Jet or their economic riser mounted impact sprinkler. This particular head unfortunately looks like the nozzle is fused with the head assembly.
As I recall, all of the 670x series had plastic diffuser screws. They made another series that was similar but had the brass alpha II sprinkler in it. That would have had a stainless diffuser screw. My memory is tricky now that it’s been 35 years since I put those in the ground, though.
The one in your video seems to have a slower rotation compared to mine and it appears to have a plastic yellow diffuser screw whereas mine is stainless steel. I think mine might be a later model and possibly commercial. I bought it on wateright.com . DM me on Instagram @journey_thru_tyme if you want to compare heads.
@@devinc.brewer4437 I got 10 of these of eBay.Mine have the red cap and nozzle as well as the stainless steel diffuser screw.Once it warms up more I should make a video of it and post it on UA-cam.
@@devinc.brewer4437 They definitely are very good sprinklers I know of a few places that still use these.I do wonder if you know when these were popular.

I installed hundreds of these in the Washington, DC area from 1986-1988. In ‘86 they had green bodies.
I like that it's literally just a Beta-II in an in-ground housing
Perhaps one of the most rigid plastic impact sprinklers I own.

@@thewanderingoutsider4237 yeah me either. These were unicorn status as I didn't see many with the brass head inside
