Thank you for being the only people mentioning Filip Zadina! Mentioned him in another podcast and it was pretty much met with an eye roll. Dude has a good shot, just played on some offensively non-existent teams.
Kylington is one who I have thought of too. I am surprised he is still available. Definitely worth taking a shot at, but I would expect him to sign with a contender.
I'd wager that teams are very tentative about signing him because of all the time he missed struggling with mental health issues. He'll get signed, eventually, but it won't be for anything close to his last contract...one year, maybe two, close to $1M per (prove it deal).
@@Ando2k10 I am thinking something like 1 year with FLA where he will be depth, or push someone else down as depth if it's a hit. His reason for signing with the Pens could be getting that second year.
Doc is my top 6 player to watch. I know most people are nervous he's not a natural goal scorer but he put up good numbers last year and destroyed teams on the forecheck. He had 16 goals and he wasn't with crosby all season nor was he on the power play. I believe a full season on sids wing, plus maybe some pp2 time as the next front/retreval guy and he should be in the mid 20's. I think that makes him a legit top 6 winger. Do i think there are better players out there as natural goal scorers, of course but they would cost too much in $ or assets. Maybe next season we will have the space and money to shop for another high end talent. But until then I think DOC is the fit and makes that line much harder to play against.
With Jake gone, I'd expect Rakell to end up on the first line with Sid and Rusty. When he first arrived in Pittsburgh, he played with Sid so well, that it seemed like they shared a mind. I, almost, expect to see Puljujarvi playing with Geno and Bunting, maybe even Hayes, and let that line be a big, physical, skill line.
Daniel Sprong can actually play and shoot and score. A rare player who functions on the bottom lines. I know lets bring in pluggers like Nieto, Acciari, Puljujarvi, Bemstrom and the I can't play hockey crew.
Yeah I still think Dubas needs another move or two. Even though Reilly Smith didn't work trading him still left a hole in the top six that Dubas hasn't filled yet. Zadina might be worth a shot. The skill is there but the numbers just aren't because he's been on some bad teams. I like Kylington too but honestly I just don't see a spot for him after signing Aho and Grzelcyk.
Not really high on the remaining ufa's. If i was dubas, id be calling my old team and make an offer for nick robertson. He wants out of toronto so the leafs dont have much leverage in negotiations. 22 years old. What fans want and i actually think he has top 6 potential if put with right players. I think rust will be best top 6 player other then sid. Even better then geno.

Zadina is interesting if not only because he is cheap, young, has scored 13 goals, and him and David Quinn already have a close relationship
He has zero defensive capabilities and shows up only when he wants to.

Zadina puts zero effort into defence, definately not a top 9 player.
