Nice work! It's a bummer about that lifter tick. Those FE motors had a habit of bending pushrods if over revved back in the day. These days they can bend them if the rocker arms or valves get tight/sticky from sitting. Check the rocker shafts and pushrods, I sure hope you get lucky. That motor sounded too nice to have to tear into. The more I see this car, the more i like it. The base clock/radio delete dash and stick shift is sweet. You rarely see that anymore, most of those base models were scrapped or used as parts cars long ago. I've had a number of 60s Galaxies, XLs and 7-Litres over the years, but as I'm getting older I appreciate the lower end models more and more. The fact it was likely a cop car makes it even cooler. I learned to drive on one of those ours was a galaxie 500 a nc highway patrol reject car because it came with no power steering or ac 390 4bbl 335hp first car at 16 year old

Yeah. I pulled the valve cover. And confirmed lifter. Have to stay tuned for next week yo see what happened

have you changed the oil,i have run 390s for over 40 years,they let you know when you are a quart or two low or if the oil needs changed
