This one was a project I really regarded as absolutely hopeless. Even more after I saw the "oil". You really do not run away from challenges. Well done! Your right, it is a funny car to drive to the beach. I hope you will succeed making it roadworthy.
I really like these - they’re like a bigger MX5/Miata really. There’s actually someone in my village who imported a red one! To be fair running one here in the UK from a mechanical perspective is very easy as it’s all the same running gear/tech as the Vauxhall Astra/Vectra etc so parts would never be a problem - only body panels and trim would be an issue but not insurmountable lol. Great video and a huge thumbs up as always to you Al! I love your perseverance and you never give up, saving and using to me is the best thing for the environment too!
The water that came out the engine looked pretty clean, wonder if it was salt water cause maybe it wasn’t and that saved the engine, great video as always have a good one Al
Hey big AL 🙆 appreciate the awesome content. I had my eye on the Saturn sky. The guy sold it 20 minutes after we made a deal over the phone 😔. Win some lose some lol 🎬👍
Your the best car channel I especially liked the S 10 blazer rebuild I watch all your videos keep up the great work saving these cool cars in need of some loving to many people today are in a throw away idea at the first problem a car gives them sad so many cool cars end up at the crusher or wrecking yards way too too soon before there time keep up the great work Big Al a huge thumbs up !!!!!!! and everyone should subscribe and like !!!
Al, all your content is fantastic, but i woukd say this tops the list. I thought the Solstice was THE coolest car when they came out. I hope to own one someday.
I believe you are going to find out that the abs valves are stuck and its just dumping brake pressure. Master cylinders dont usually just fail on both sides. One side yes but not both at the same time unless it sat for 20 years and went dry.
I'm a used car dealer, I once repo'd an Impala that was severely abused, girl wasn't paying for it and took a serious dislike to it. Anyways, about the brakes... she totally wore out the brakes, replaced the pads, and just put the calipers back on with no bolts. The hose got rubbed thru, and she replaced the hose, and she had no pedal. Still had no pedal when I repo'd it. So I replaced the master cylinder, the brake booster, the calipers, and I had no pedal. I bled the brakes over, and over, and over, and over, and still no pedal. So then I used a scan tool to bleed the ABS, and that brought the pedal back to normal. I don't know what it could be with the Soltice, but bleeding the ABS might be necessary, and that may require a scan tool, so fix the OBD2 connector.
Just a hunch since your not hearing anything when you hit the brake pedal I would look up under the dash first to see if anything is broken or disconnected.
I had a car that just suddenly had no brakes come to find out the master cylinder went out. I’d probably start there. Can’t wait to see this thing completely finished. Still have the Astra? How’s it doing? Any videos coming on it?
Change the brake master cylinder. Sounds like the seals have gone. Master cylinders are cheap so I'd rather put a new one on and 100% eliminate that as a possibility.
I know these cars don't get much respect but I've always liked them and would have no problem daily driving this. Really hope it gets the attention it deserves after drowning ....then getting CPR from you and George. You mentioned that you didn't want viewers to get bored of too much content on one vehicle, but I can assure you that it is absolutely infuriating as a viewer to invest so much time watching the weekly progress on a vehicle, only to have it just completely disappear from the channel. (It's happened so many times on other UA-cam vlogs where after following the progress week after week, they get bored, drop it and move on to the next project.)
Actually what I said was the opposite and feel the same way as you, i don’t like to introduce a car to the channel unless I know I’ll be able to follow through with the remaining videos parts of that car promptly.
@bigalsbikeandauto I've seen how you stick with your projects till they're as good as you need them to be. That's why I keep coming back. Cheers from Toronto.
@@enermaxstephens1051 cheap car buyers today have unrealistic expectations and entitlement so they’re not even worth the headache of selling. I just keep them around.
Can say that I do notice when you haven't posted recently . still believe you will be a man that leaves a barn find full of hundreds of running cars when you die . That is not a bad thing .
Man you're on fire lately!! Keep these coming!!
A great day when Big Al uploads
Yep!
I'm gonna start calling you Aquaman since you are all about these submarine vehicles 😂
I’m gonna start calling you weld through primer 😂
@@bigalsbikeandauto fair enough
Good God Al, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, while you were draining the water out of the oil pan. I can’t believe that thing runs!
I loved those cars when they first came out and I still do the solistce and the saturn sky!💗💗
Good video Al. I hope you can make a driver out of it without too much expense. I'm always amazed at the results you get.
No way! I had very little hope for that .Awesome job!
I own an orange turbo solstice and LOVE it. Glad to see you saving her. Orange is rare in these.
That’s what I’ve been told!
I to love these cars, they or very fun to drive.

Thanks for your video, it encourages me to take the first step toward my dreams.
Man $575 for one of these is DREAMING up here in Ohio. These still command a premium higher than NA and NB Miatas around here
Loving the flood cars, they always make good content. Keep them coming, Al!!!
I’ve been looking for a Solstice or the Saturn equivalent. I guess I’ll start following flood cars. Nice work, Big Al!
that was great Al, you guys did a great job on the Solstice 👍

Great revival of that Solstice! Good video.
Good video! I don't think we've seen a cameo from your dog in a while.
I was waiting for this video!!
S type next please! Didn't know you had that one. Maybe time for a fleet update. Amazing the car ran, just can't believe it worked after a salt bath.
enjoying these new vids bro need you for content this summer
That outro music is awesome bro. Sounds like the song "Joanna" from Kool in the Gang. Yes i'm old ASF. 👈
Al, all your content is fantastic, but i woukd say this tops the list. I thought the Solstice was THE coolest car when they came out. I hope to own one someday.
Use that Autel and go to "services" and do the ABS bleed procedure. That might bring the brakes back.
Come back and visit with your Autel I don’t have one 😩
@@bigalsbikeandauto If only you were closer than Florida lol. If I wasn't using mine daily I'd send it to you.
I will buy one sooner than later; I definitely need one!
I love the front clip of the Solstice!
It lives! Surprised it ran with all that water, there might be a fish in crankcase. A manual would be cooler, but it was still a good deal.
I believe you are going to find out that the abs valves are stuck and its just dumping brake pressure. Master cylinders dont usually just fail on both sides. One side yes but not both at the same time unless it sat for 20 years and went dry.
Sounds plausible
I would like to see a video of that S type Jag.
I’ll be waiting for a video on the Cadillacs

I agree with the ABS theory

Hey Big Al, yesterday I saw a white ATT Cavalier driving here in N. Cal.! Could be a 20 year old car?
Nice!
hell yeah al!!!!!! 💯 💯

Astra is doing fine, no changes so don’t know what I would video.
I’m no expert on the Solstice, but that sounds exactly like a bad Master Cylinder. I’d start there.
It's a cool looking car Al
i like the videos. hurricane Ian that's back the day. pontiac solstice interesting cars.
Was delivery mans name George? 🤣🤣
Are those Anthony's Caddy parts cars behind George?
No sir they are mine

Brake master cylinder I’ve had it happen to me on a few Chevy cars
Greetings from Detroit
Wow I have never seen that much water come out of an engine
Cool car.
I'd be willing to bet somebody pushed this junker in the way of Ian for the insurance check.
This thumbnail 😂👍
Drain all fluids and flush.
Nice another car lives again
Always wanted a Solstice 😋 even runs too #GMbaby
Had a gxp version it was really fun and fast

Is the Soltice really a Saturn?
The Saturn Sky is the same car underneath
Its a Kappa car, there was a Pontiac and Saturn version in the US and an Opel/Vauxhall version of the Saturn Sky in Europe and a Daewoo version too.
Ls swap?
