Nicely done so far, can't wait to see what your diorama it is going to look like. Huge fan of post apocalyptic builds. Btw yes the figure provided with the kit is looking rad. Thanks for sharing.
I remember back in the day I was playing Metal Gear Solid 3 and dozens of these tanks were parked at the main villain’s base. At first I had no idea they were real and thought that they looked ridiculous. Then years and years later I came across a UA-cam video about them and couldn’t believe that this thing was actually real. All of those games have giant robots, psychics, clones, etc., so I just figured this thing was another creation of the game designers.
If you are going to make a post apocalyptic diorama, that tank needs more improvised accessories such as logs (more than one because it is bigger than a T34), some fence so that enenies couldn't climb on there, blankets, boxes, things like that . Such a tank would have ended up as a mobile trench... The video and the model is very nice, I also follow Night Shift and I'm learning a lot with him.
I see your point, Manuel. But I was interpreting things in a different way. I was thinking of a situation where *nothing* apart from military personnel in bunkers has survived. Perhaps this tank and the soldier in an NBC have just come up to the surface to take readings and search for (non-existent) survivors. Nothing is left. Buildings are reduce to rubble a couple of feet high max. The atmosphere I want to create is "slightly non human" (the way the figure looks in the suit certainly helps this) - and with nothing to tie it to people or even a specific time period. It could be the Cold War, it could be decades after a nuclear apocalypse. With this in mind, I was thinking of leaving the tank fairly blank as I didn't want many signs of 'humanity' on it - blankets, food cartons, etc. Hmmm...maybe my mind is darker than it should be..... :)
Very strange choice of colour for the plastic. I don't think I've ever seen another armour model made of black plastic. Very interesting subject and very well done build! Love that figure too.
Thanks Robert. According to various sources the project was cancelled because of a change in Soviet doctrine - for offence, moving away from tanks to long range missiles. For defence, they wanted lighter tanks that could operate on Soviet bridges in case of a homeland defence situation like WW2.
What great timing!! I just got the Takom 2 in 1 1/72 scale version in the mail today and just realized you had posted this. The 1/35 version looks just as cool and the figure is even nicer than my little 1/72 guy- though the parts seem to be the same, just smaller. Can't wait to see what you do with yours! Funny after seeing the figure I too knew I was going to have to get it and do a post apocalyptic scene. In 1/35 scale you'll also be able to use some of those resin S.T.A.L.K.E.R. figures I always see floating around eBay if you chose. 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice - I hope you enjoy the kit! I'll have to start trying more 1:72 scale stuff as I'm running out of display space. I've got one of the Stalker type figures on order - should be here soon.
Hehe....it's still on the list :) I do have it on my list of "dioramas to build". I've got quite a lot of the materials I need now, so this, the Canadian Ram diorama, the Jagdpanther dio, and an abandoned tank are near the top.
It's been a while since I built this, but I don't remember the tracks being particularly difficult. I want to resurrect this kit for a small diorama actually...
@@ModelNerd I have a burning hatred for individual link tracks, I almost bought metal tracks off some guy in russia for 70 bucks but decided against it. I like black rubber tracks and I use a staple throught the melt holes and bend them to hold it, much stronger than individual link plastic tracks.

Thanks mate. Yes, I'm quite looking forward to it myself. Just got to get some time at the bench...
What an esoteric looking tank. 😍 And post-apocalyptic scenes for dioramas are awesome, so much leeway to use imagination.
Yes - and I am oddly intrigued by just abandoned places. Something about them just draws me in.

Haha, I know what you mean and I know that exact part of MGS 3!
The best fiction can seamlessly blend in a little bit of truth here and there! The MG games are some of the best!

@@ModelNerd I can see yours too. I can't wait to see the next video.
Great work on the model,i hope to get one myself in our model shops.
Thanks mate.
Из за тебя и солдата в противогазе купил такой тоже) Диорама супер!
Thanks. Yes, I like the figure :)

Thanks. Yes, I agree about the plastic. It makes any blemishes and sanding really stand out too.
@@ModelNerd did that help the build process? Or make it harder??
I think it just made it uglier because imperfections show up more :)
Interesting looking tank....very unusual and possibly why only one was built. Nice job so far and will relish what's to come in the next rounds!!

Thanks for the info......I wasn't aware of the reason for the development of only one .
That looks awesome! The individual links would drive me insane.
Thanks mate. They did a bit - but I think they pale in comparison to the recent Ram I built.

@@ModelNerd awesome!!
When people thought they could survive a nuclear war. Model looks very detailed, nice build.
Thanks Surin
I'm not into military stuff at All, but goddamn, this thing is awesome!
It's an impressive looking beast, isn't it? Just slightly...out of this world....enough to make it frightening
Model Nerd exactly, especially the long barrel one.
Looking good!
Thanks
I saw this kit at my local shop and it didn't interest me. However seeing your build, I might reconsider!☺
I enjoyed it because it is quite different - a nice break from the King Tiger with full interior that is slowly building up.
@@ModelNerd I have that King Tiger. The build became so tedious, I have it on hold for now..
when part 2? :(

Using glued?
Yep, using Tamiya Cement
Sweet
Those tracks are straight up the worst, I would straight up canibalize two other sets with rubber tracks if they were the same size.
