@@russellmania5349 -- depends on what you are doing. With public wifi there is a chance of a man-in-the-middle attack, so it is not a bad idea to use a VPN, however, when every web site nowadays is SSL encrypted, the chances of a man-in-the-middle attack is pretty much nonexistent.
Many of the downsides you list for VPNs are also true of routing through tor and loki. Great video though. Im still trying to learn about the networking behind loki, its very cool technology
I do agree with you and I do agree there’s a time and a place to use a VPN and what not to use a VPN and I also think but like you said is it orchid VPN decentralize? The same with the Tor VPN? Because the tour VPN and orchid and LOKlNET because they are decentralized and I do agree that some VPNs could be spywares in some VPNs or not private my advice is look for the VPNs that you can trust and take it with a grain of salt and make sure you do your research on the VPN and make sure it’s private and orchid oxt coin and if you buy a coin from the Ethereum Block chain Buy the OXT coin without paying for it without your credit card just saying they mention two ways of payment normal payment or pay TOXT coins in anonymous way some BPNs are scams in spyware some are good and have potential to be really good in private you just have to do research and find the right one and that’s my other advice
The thing with traditional VPN providers is that you have to trust them. You don't have to trust Lokinet VPN exit node providers as they know nothing about you.
True most VPN providers put their trust into the VPN providers like you said if you put your trust into it you don’t know if they can betray you or sell your data to the NSA authorities or most of them turn out to not be private or spyware there are some VPNs that are very private and they stick to their promises it’s just very hard to find one

I want to learn to code my own VPN, so I know it's secure 100%. Heard it wasn't too hard when you know coding basics, so I guess there's only one way to find out...
It's not very difficult top setup. Some cloud providers even pre-install OpenVPN software in the Virtual Private Server. Having your own VPN server is better, but if someone wants to find out who owns the IP address of the VPN server, they can find that out from the cloud server provider. So, yes, your own VPN gives you better control and privacy, but you won't be anonymous.
I have been telling people this same thing for many years, nobody seems to listen to me..
Just makes your life more difficult...
Same 😂

What about if your using a public wifi network, should you be using a VPN then?

Yes. What Tor and Lokinet do well is IP address anonymity, but that's only one part of the privacy battle.
@@privacyproshop yes you explain it well in your videos. I cant wait to see more. Do you have a written blog or newsletter?
@@ultravioletiris6241 At this time I don't. We have some Session/Oxen/Lokinet related articles on PrivacyProShop.com under the Support section

When using vpn on mobile device with wifi at home am I sharing with my mobile provider as well as my home isp?
The probleme is there were never build for privacy ...
That's right
So help me hide the ip when torrenting without getting a copyright notice in my country...
It will certainly work for that. However, you are likely better off with a standard VPN as it is faster for Torrenting.

Can you use Loki on a router ? Like pfSense, OpenSense, etc?
Sorta-kinda. There is a Raspberry Pi / Orange Pi Lokinet Access Point. I've used it for a while. Works well. github.com/necro-nemesis/LabyrinthAP

Not true not all VPNs are scumm
Correct. Not all VPNs are scams. The problem is that you don't know which ones aren't scams and you still have to trust the VPN provider.
