Alabama here. I just started watching your channel and appreciate your honesty about your growth. At 70, I've experienced a lot of it myself. I was a kid in the worst of the race troubles in Birmingham and have grown tremendously over the years. I like what you said about some don't grow but you do..same here and grateful for it. Thanks for the many good things you said about Alabama.. it's far from perfect but has come a long way. New generations move us farther and farther away from the sad history you spoke of. I may not live to see it but I have hope for us, maybe because as a rule, Southerners love people and most have good hearts. Anyways, I'm looking forward to watching your channel. :-)
Hi Janice, this is one of my favorite comments! I appreciate your candor and your ability to reflect and relate. I wish you all the best for a happy and healthy 2024!
Yes every state has rich and poor citizens. We all see what we want to or what we expect to see. Thank you for admitting that the first time around you filmed what you expected to find in the south. Being a southerner, I can say that most of the country poor have the most loving and caring attitude and will welcome everyone.
That is Spanish Moss hanging in the trees. It's an air plant and just hangs there. However, it covers the leaves and cuts down on photosynthesis, so the branch eventually dies. After enough branches die the tree dies. Yes, it takes a few years. I hate the stuff!!
The Princess and the Pea. A story by Hans Christian Andersen. A prince insists on marrying a real princess. When a woman comes to his door maintaining that she is a real princess, the prince's mother tests her by burying a pea in the bed she is offered for the night, covered by twenty mattresses and twenty eider-down beds on top of the mattresses. and then ordering the woman to sleep on the mattresses. In the morning, the princess tells her hosts that she endured a sleepless night, kept awake by something hard in the bed that she is certain has bruised her. The prince's family realizes she is a princess since no one but a real princess could be so delicate. The two are happily married, and the story ends with the pea being placed in a museum, where it might still remain. (And not Sleeping Beauty. That is a different girl forced to her bed because the bad witch did not get invited to a party. lol) So it is no wonder that some women grow up thinking they are victims or need rescuing. Luckily, women like me just smile and enjoy the fantasy that it is.
I remember having to hunt for overnight spots in Alabama. I pulled up a road and there was a perfect, flat spot to park. Out of the way by a murky looking pond. In the morning I sat there behind the rig having my coffee. Perfect. Quiet but for the birds singing. All of a sudden, the loudest roar came out of that pond. I was up and in, in seconds flat!! I didn't know alligator's roar. lol. Safe travels. I love your bravery.
It was the “baby bear”, had choice of mama bear, daddy bear & baby bear: bowl of porrage, too hot, too cold, just right, then, bed to choose: mama bear too soft, daddy bear too hard, but baby bear’s bed was just right. I get that feeling of loving being out west. We’ve been in Florida for a bit and I’m missing the ease of exploring out in AZ & UT. Great video! Glad I found your channel.
I loved your reflection in the ‘rain walk’. I am a woman of faith embracing a creator that has no gender. It’s like humankind is afraid of thinking beyond our tangibles. Submitting to anything larger than ourselves is just plain scary. But for me…I don’t need to know it all. 😉 Again, thanks for your reflective thoughts!!
I think many of us are comfortable submitting to something greater than ourselves. Just not a ghost man in the sky. :0) there are many ways to be spiritual, and I don't claim to think mine is the only way, as it sounds like you don't either. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for talking about your confirmation bias and the courage to admit it. Although I don't always agree with you, I love that you are open and honest and REAL. I enjoy your channel and your adventures. Once I get on the road full time next summer, I'm going to join the Patreon. Right now just a free member because I don't have the extra money. Btw, I’m not from the Deep South (native Texan here) but I absolutely love your channel and so appreciate your travels, your shares!! All thought provoking. It’s “The Princess and the Pea.” Carol Burnett played the Princess Winifred in the Offf Broadway play, “ Once Upon A Mattress,”in the early years of her career. She also did a 1964 TV production.
The Princess and the Pea is the story, and the musical is Once Upon a Mattress. It is good to see you driving through Alabama. I am planning a trip next year into the south Miss, Alabama, Georgia, SC, NC, Tenn, then up to Virginia and West Virginia on my way to Penn.

❤ I've lived in over half the states in the USA, and many being in the south. I can tell you that there are alot of stories in those heavy wooded areas through Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Arkansas and even Texas. Stay safe on the road.
You’re thinking…. The Princess and the Pea. You were looking at Spanish Moss. Spanish moss is great in trees but when it’s on ground and “dead” it will get red bugs. You don’t want that. People that use this moss in decoration will microwave it to kill bugs. Mobile pronounced Mo-bill.
Starlink is a life changer for us as full-timers. We've had sketchy, or no Verizon cell service for a week. We set out Starlink, set our phone to use wi-fi calling, and it is no longer a problem.
Yes, it seems it's the Princess and the Pea! That's the one I was thinking of because I was thinking specifically of the pea. But many people shared a similar Goldilocks tale too! thank you.
Some fairytale facts 😂 You asked about the one with the pea-- “Princess and the pea” is the name of that fairytale. Someone said Goldilocks and she did test out beds to find the right one. “Princess and the pea” could feel a pea through a huge stack of mattresses. 😂
Rep John Lewis was my favorite! ❤❤ Very wise man! “Get in Good Trouble” he always said. We can’t be scared to “Get in Good Trouble” Elijah Cummings was another of my favorites ❤❤
Hi there! Ive just recently found your channel so Im getting caught up. I really enjoy your content and your style! You are also clearly super smart and an eloquent speaker! I love listening to you. Hey how is your experience with your new generator so far? Can you provide some information about it? Thank you for sharing your travels!
I completely felt your pain in the beginning! I was just in Tuscaloosa to watch my niece graduate, and you would think there would be plenty of camping in mid December, but I had the same experience at Payne Lake! All the electrical sites were taken, and in the primitive area, all the sites were very unlevel. If you ever get back down there though, I highly recommend the Tannehill State Forest. Lots of history and pretty trails and you can get water and electric for $25. It was fairly empty and I got a nice spot next to the creek, but if it was during the summer, it would be an absolute cluster! The sites are really on top of each other, but being Winter, it was pretty open. AnyWho I’m gonna go back to watching the rest of the video. I just wanted to share that and say hello! Safe travels.😊
I had a giggling fit when you called it "lady's beard". It really tickled me. Heck, why not call it "gay man's beard". Ohhh, so silly. Whatever it's called, yes, it is beautiful. Great video.
❤❤❤ When I was 18 I spent a summer there on the Coosa river in Gadsden, Alabama outside of Gadsden, very beautiful as a beautiful natural cliff and areas around there somewhere to look at. If you have time to go see them.
The name of the book is. The three bears. Goldilocks she couldn't find a place to sleep. The beds were either too hard or too soft and then she found the right one. Before she started checking the beds she ate everybody's porridge and found the right one.
Just a memory while you were naming a few Civil Rights members, besides MLK, John Lewis was Rev. Jessie Jackson ( who ran for President 2 times snd Donald Trump paid for his campaign both times)

I just learned something about myself. I think I have confirmation bias, too. I didn't know what it was called, and it has been dragging me down. I live in an area where there are a lot of poor and homeless people. I feel bad for those people, but it also disgusts me because it makes the city trashy and dirty. I find myself looking for confirmation, when I'd rather focus on the beautiful.
The princess and the pea. Spanish moss. Sadie always looks like she's on duty when she's on a leash, from that camera angle anyway.😅 It's a sycamore tree, I think. Big leaves. I used to have to rake them. Now I live in the woods, we don't even bother. I rake my driveway twice a year and let nature take care of the rest.❤
im not the type to say "first" on a video but Im gonna this time because I admire you smooch. Got my Class C, and watching another women do it helps my confidence so much. do you think I have to get all terrain tires to do forest roads like you do? I hear they can eat alot of gas as well. oh its literally The Princess and the Pea. lol
Hi Sky, it's all about priorities. Sure my gas mileage sucks, but I also haven't been stuck since I got them. I spend as much time as possible off paved roads, so for me it's worth every cent. Best of luck in your adventures! Thanks for watching
Many years ago, women weren't allowed to vote. I am half polish. My Dad was polish. His parent came from Poland to escape the Nazis. My Grand Dad worked in the coal mines in PA. My grandparents couldn't speak English. My Dad fought in WW11 before I was born. He was hit by a piece of a bomb. He survived or I wouldn't be here. A lot of people had it hard over the years. We shouldn't have all these homeless people.
@@CarolynsRVLife We should be so grateful for this country where women are free to follow their dreams. I came from Brasil many years ago and built a fabulous life for myself including winning an Emmy. NEVER ONCE I felt oppressed, discriminated upon, on the contrary, this country gave so many opportunities and the freedom as woman to be whatever I wanted to be. The feeling of second class citizen is a personal feeling and not a reality. We have women in high positions from all levels and paid high salaries like man do. Please be fair and please stop reactivating the sentiment of victimhood. You have so much so offer Carolyn! Be grateful instead and thank God we do not live in countries where women are really treated as second class citizens. God bless you.❤️
Lmao.. right. Ask #Kate Cox and #BrittanyWatts how grateful they are to live in the good ole U S of A. Our Supreme Court has actual sexual predators, and half the country thinks electing a confirmed rapist to run the free world is perfectly fine. Ask the millions of women who've been assaulted and raped without any repercussions for the rapist. Ask Chanel Miller, Christine Blasi ford, E. Jean Carroll, Anita Hill. Ask any woman who works in make dominated fields or who works online. HELL ask Hillary Clinton how grateful she is! We are NOT equal. Stop drinking the patriarchal kool-aid

❤ I've lived in over half the states in the USA, and many being in the south. I can tell you that there are alot of stories in those heavy wooded areas through Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Arkansas and even Texas. Stay safe on the road.
Are the corp of engineers the only federal lands where you can get 50% camping? With the park pass.
Is it more expensive for the waterfront sites, if not why didn't you take one? Is your star link better then relying on cell towers?
Starlink is a life changer for us as full-timers. We've had sketchy, or no Verizon cell service for a week. We set out Starlink, set our phone to use wi-fi calling, and it is no longer a problem.
Safe travels and a lovely Holiday wherever you and Sadie may be! Much love, Carolyn and Sadie girl!💖🎄⭐
We will never hear enough of Carolyn. ❤
With the sparce details about the fairytale. It could be Goldilocks and the 3 Bears or Princess and the Pea.
Yes, it seems it's the Princess and the Pea! That's the one I was thinking of because I was thinking specifically of the pea. But many people shared a similar Goldilocks tale too! thank you.
Princess and the Pea is the name of the story ❤
Louisiana State Parks honor the America The Beautiful pass. Some of the other State parks but not all States Parks honor them
Spanish Moss in the trees. Don’t handle it, it can harbor Red Bugs that will make you itch.
Some fairytale facts 😂 You asked about the one with the pea-- “Princess and the pea” is the name of that fairytale. Someone said Goldilocks and she did test out beds to find the right one. “Princess and the pea” could feel a pea through a huge stack of mattresses. 😂
Goldilocks and the 3 Bears
Rep John Lewis was my favorite! ❤❤ Very wise man! “Get in Good Trouble” he always said. We can’t be scared to “Get in Good Trouble”
Elijah Cummings was another of my favorites ❤❤
I watch you because i like your talking.😊
I could have sworn l saw that truck in the driveway twice
A show thats not on anymore called Absolutely Alabama. You might enjoy it if its on UA-cam now possibly.
Mother Nature is a wonderful thing
"The Princess and the Pea"
It doesn’t matter where you are at in Alabama .. There’s gators lol don’t just look for signs .. If there’s water then there’s gators lol ..
We even have gators and East Texas girl.
Hi there! Ive just recently found your channel so Im getting caught up. I really enjoy your content and your style! You are also clearly super smart and an eloquent speaker! I love listening to you. Hey how is your experience with your new generator so far? Can you provide some information about it? Thank you for sharing your travels!
Mixing stories. Goldilocks looked for best bed. Princess and the Pea could feel a pea under 20 feather mattresses.
Correction… Tannehill State Park!
I had a giggling fit when you called it "lady's beard". It really tickled me. Heck, why not call it "gay man's beard". Ohhh, so silly. Whatever it's called, yes, it is beautiful. Great video.
Hi Carolyn, the movie is The Princess and the Pea"?
Thanks for the history lesson. And very true about those of us living in rural areas and amazed at the changes over the past 30+ years.
Guntersville is my hometown. It is so beautiful!
I spent a summer when I was 18 many, many years ago in Gadsden on the Coosa river.
❤❤❤ When I was 18 I spent a summer there on the Coosa river in Gadsden, Alabama outside of Gadsden, very beautiful as a beautiful natural cliff and areas around there somewhere to look at. If you have time to go see them.
How do you keep your dog/you free of ticks and fleas in all these areas?
Your 'bias' showed , that you care!!! ❤😢
kittycat is correct.
Iluv being from the south i hope u stop at that place in florida where the water was crystal clear it was beautiful there
The Princess and the Pea!!! Lol❤
The name of the book is. The three bears.
Goldilocks she couldn't find a place to sleep. The beds were either too hard or too soft and then she found the right one. Before she started checking the beds she ate everybody's porridge and found the right one.
Are you talking about Goldie Locks? lol. Alabama has the best BBQ imo. Roasted Peanuts too! I believe those are oak trees and that's spanish moss.
❤❤❤❤❤
Just a memory while you were naming a few Civil Rights members, besides MLK, John Lewis was Rev. Jessie Jackson ( who ran for President 2 times snd Donald Trump paid for his campaign both times)
I noticed that you passed that Water Tender Truck on the right side... twice
Or I reused the clip because I needed b roll
The Princess and the Pea!😂❤
Princes and the pea - A story by Hans Christian Andersen. A prince insists on marrying a real princess. When a woman comes to his door maintaining that she is a real princess, the prince's mother tests her by burying a pea under a huge stack of mattresses and then ordering the woman to sleep on the mattresses.
Hi looking 4 Peace. we all have conformation bias, the trick is being willing to admit and see it. Congrats!!!
I live in north Alabama Glad you enjoyed the area
The princess and the pea.
Spanish moss.
Sadie always looks like she's on duty when she's on a leash, from that camera angle anyway.😅
It's a sycamore tree, I think. Big leaves. I used to have to rake them. Now I live in the woods, we don't even bother. I rake my driveway twice a year and let nature take care of the rest.❤
Love this the princess and the pea😊👍👍👍
Yep Spanish moss!
It' s so pretty!!!
im not the type to say "first" on a video but Im gonna this time because I admire you smooch.
The princess and the pea
Many years ago, women weren't allowed to vote. I am half polish. My Dad was polish. His parent came from Poland to escape the Nazis. My Grand Dad worked in the coal mines in PA. My grandparents couldn't speak English. My Dad fought in WW11 before I was born. He was hit by a piece of a bomb. He survived or I wouldn't be here. A lot of people had it hard over the years. We shouldn't have all these homeless people.
I never felt as a second class citizen. Absurd.
Just because you never "felt" it doesn't make it less true. Plenty of women gladly accept crumbs and call it cake.
@@CarolynsRVLife We should be so grateful for this country where women are free to follow their dreams. I came from Brasil many years ago and built a fabulous life for myself including winning an Emmy. NEVER ONCE I felt oppressed, discriminated upon, on the contrary,
this country gave so many opportunities and the freedom as woman to be whatever I wanted to be.
@@CarolynsRVLife God bless you.
More patriarchal kool-aid. Wow
