Thank you for these interesting pictures from a world that is foreign to me. I was very impressed to see it. It reminded me that I could never live in a place like this. I live in the country and this may seem boring to many. But in a city like this I would probably be depressed after 2 months.
The balance matters and what the city offers and how the city is designed. I grew up in the country side in Bavaria/Germany. When I went to Tokyo the first time, it felt as calm as the small town I grew up in even though the Tokyo metropolitan area is inhabited by 40 million people which is basically half Germany in one spot.
At first I was taken aback. But then I noticed that the streets were clean; kids coming back from school. Nobody seemed to be in a hurry, and I thought that’s not that bad. The only thing missing is the sun shining. I doubt it ever peaks through the smog.

So many questions... sorry for asking but this is amazing content. Are the apartments private housing, public housing or a mixture? If private, how much does an apartment cost? I didn't see many (any?) people on bicycles. Does everyone have a scooter? What is public transport like? Can you cross the district in a metro? Or is it quicker to walk? Are there large shops and stores as well as the many small ones? ? I don't read Chinese so I don't know what I am seeing. Why are there no handrails and ramps for the elderly and people in wheelchairs? It must be difficult for them to get around. It's nice to see traffic-free spaces where children can run around and play table tennis. That is absent in many places. I live in Ireland. If this district were here, with its 500,000 people, it would be the second largest city in the country.
1. Developer and sale are based on a private model but were executed with certain municipality government goals 2. Cost wise the aim was to create ultra-affordability from density. ¥4000CNY/m^2 is the initial target price tag of residential units here when the housing price in the rest of the city is well above ¥10,000CNY/m^2; In fact, this flooding of supply and low prices had dragged down the overall housing price in the city. Currently, the unit price is about ¥7500CNY/m^2 here. 3. Transit-wise: BRT, 2 bus terminals, and 3 metro stations have been built for longer commutes out of the site. Despite this car dependency is still high for commutes and congestion is still terrible during rush hours. That said tho, this community is still not the most congested compared to the rest of the city, despite is significant density. 4. Basic necessities are well within walking distance thanks to the mixed-use development plan, the sheer scale of the community solves it by hosting some 20,000 businesses. This is why bikes are not necessary. 5. Bicycles are not as popular as scooters. Not everyone has nor needs a scooter however it's quite popular in China and is especially essential to delivery service workers. 5. Accessibility definitely is something China is working on. Less wealthy regions and not as well-funded projects like this still severely lack accessibility infrastructure. 6. Background info for some more insight. Some of the shortcomings of the community, that is building quality, congestion, and accessibility concerns, might be a product of the fact that the city government was very impoverished when the project was initiated, and the private developer had to fund much of the infrastructure. This might result in lower quality, as well as high density to cover the costs.
Thank you @my for your reply, his answer is very careful, and thank you for your reply, I will add The five basement floors here are parking lots. Many people have their own cars, and most of them rely on buses and BRT to travel. This is the center of the city, next to the business district, so many people can basically go to work on foot. up. I'm sorry that I didn't shoot so detailed, which caused a lot of doubts
Usually in China, if you see a skyscraper full of glass, it must be for commercial and office use, such as the building on the left at the beginning of the video, while the one on the right is a residential building, and you can see the neat balconies. China has now passed the era of bicycle riding, more electric bikes or motorcycles, and you can see some of these in the video. I don't know if there is a subway in this area, usually in large cities in China there is a subway, so it is still easy to get around, I think for sure the subway and cars are faster than walking, but it depends on the distance of where you go, if you want to go out to get food, or shopping, then you hardly need to take the subway, there will be all kinds of shopping centers and stores and restaurants within 2 km around, you can also not have to go out and use You can also place an order online with your cell phone and have it delivered to your doorstep. It's true that it's not very convenient for the elderly and disabled to travel, especially in China now, only some areas are equipped with elevators and handrails on the flyovers, I think as China gradually enters the age of the elderly, these devices will be installed slowly. These neighborhoods will be surrounded with exercise areas for the elderly, basketball courts, ping pong courts, badminton courts, free fitness centers, as well as paid fitness centers, large parks and green spaces, and possibly paid swimming pools and other niche sports venues. The advantages of such large, densely populated neighborhoods, unique to China, are that they are densely populated, easy to manage, efficient and convenient to live in, and waste of resources can be minimized, while the disadvantage is that personal space is small and easily disturbed and interfered with by others.
It's amazing that the population is only .5 million. I'm from a city with roughly 1.5 million people and we only have like one building that could rival the height of these. It's impressive.
@@tonysofla While the community is basically mixed-used, It seems to depend on the building as to how it's divided. From what I can tell there are basically two classes: pure commercial and a podium-typology-mixed-residential. The former is commercial all the way up; the podium typology is where a few levels of the bottom, the podium, purely serve commercial use, while levels above the podium serve purely commercial. But no building is purely residential down to the ground. From the looks of it, the transformation from commercial to residential once built (unless as a hotel) seems to be forbidden, however, commercial seems to be able to creep up beyond the podium into higher originally residential units.
Suggestion: if you are doing another video, perhaps make it shorter and include commentary. The commentary could be either a voiceover or subtitles. It would explain more of what we are seeing. I still think this is one of the best films I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. It was totally immersive. And some shorts from higher up in the buildings, at night, would have been great. Really good work.
@@CN_Walking agree with the guy right above, I came here from the same kind of video of someone walking through neighborhood in the US. I think a lot of people like these kinds of videos because it shows how a city is actually living, no commentary, no special events just shows how it feels to live there and walk in the streets gives a good impression of what the inhabitants are seeing/living etc. great video btw love the footage gives us a good impression of the insane scale ! love the decision you took for the angle of the camera shots. the only advice I can think of is maybe some variety, to alternate between big and large open spaces and smaller one (if they even exist in this huge city !)
Never heard of this town and I been all over the world. The sheer size and scale of these apartment complex suggest a high population density, yet the street traffic does not look congested. There must be an efficient subway system. Don't see any beggars and panhandlers so unemployment must be low. There seem to be convenient shopping at every corner. The electrical grid must be super reliable with no overhead power lines. The public transport trash collection, waste disposal, water supply, plumbing system, postal delivery, heating and cooling, wide streets and parks must have been designed in the original concept. In western cities of this size, wont be getting those apartment for $100K and food in the shopping mall would not be cheap. I suppose these apartments are for former migrant workers are they continue to move from rural to urban areas in the "common prosperity" drive.
Yes, the house prices here are between 50,000 and 90,000 dollars, and many of them live in mountainous areas. In order to let them move out, they are provided free of charge, with the aim of improving people's livelihood.
If we had half of these apartment's complex in Canadian cities our housing issue would be resolved. And also I haven't seen even one homeless person. Good job China!💞

Also Manhattan NY is very large and full of sky scrapers and large boulevards with full of traffic and people but overthere I was feeling myself like a part of the civilization as if I was living there since long time which is really impressive.
You can respond with your feelings and thoughts about the paragraph, for example: I understand that you feel lonely in a big unfamiliar city, perhaps because you haven't found a way to adapt to the environment. In Manhattan, maybe because the cultural atmosphere and lifestyle are more similar to yours, you feel a greater sense of belonging. However, everyone's feelings are unique, and I hope you can find more of your own feelings and experiences during your journey

1. Developer and sale are based on a private model but were executed with certain municipality government goals
Thank you @my for your reply, his answer is very careful, and thank you for your reply, I will add
The five basement floors here are parking lots. Many people have their own cars, and most of them rely on buses and BRT to travel. This is the center of the city, next to the business district, so many people can basically go to work on foot. up.
I'm sorry that I didn't shoot so detailed, which caused a lot of doubts
@@My-nl6sg thank you for your answer
@@My-nl6sg What is BRT?

😄, yes, not enough shots of the interior. Only found out when I edited. Thanks for your advice
@@CN_Walking And is there a building code what floor 3 and above can be? or did you see that there is a business creep upwards?
@@tonysofla While the community is basically mixed-used, It seems to depend on the building as to how it's divided. From what I can tell there are basically two classes: pure commercial and a podium-typology-mixed-residential. The former is commercial all the way up; the podium typology is where a few levels of the bottom, the podium, purely serve commercial use, while levels above the podium serve purely commercial. But no building is purely residential down to the ground.
From the looks of it, the transformation from commercial to residential once built (unless as a hotel) seems to be forbidden, however, commercial seems to be able to creep up beyond the podium into higher originally residential units.

great video btw love the footage gives us a good impression of the insane scale ! love the decision you took for the angle of the camera shots.
the only advice I can think of is maybe some variety, to alternate between big and large open spaces and smaller one (if they even exist in this huge city !)

30:22 wow, look at those apartments! I want to visit China again. greetings from Norway.
Excellent camera work, nice slow pace, taking it all in like a tourist might. Exotic and yet a comfortable everyday feel. Magical... Like being a child again, before you knew what any signs and ads were saying...Very enjoyable.
Love this comment ❤
Que bom assistir o vídeo 🇧🇷 é fascinante poder ver uma cidade grande como essa,as informações da cidade, uma parte da história dela e de costumes diferentes. Agradeço pela gentileza de compartilhar no aplicativo
I don't know why but I can feel only lonliness in such a huge area.
However, everyone's feelings are unique, and I hope you can find more of your own feelings and experiences during your journey
manhateen is like 3rd world compared to any city in china, especially cleaniess, you see people bowel movement on street in manhaten
This city looks depressing and gray. I like chinese people but could not ever live there. I need the green forrests and wildlife of finland.
I'd feel very unsafe in Manhattan where kids are taught to be school shooters
从来没有想象过贵阳这个在中国连二线都算不上的小城市,居然可以拿来和曼哈顿做比较
China is such an amazing country, I dont know any country that can pull off this scale of engineering
The streets are shockingly empty. I have to assume most of those apartments are unoccupied. It seems like a cool urban environment with convenient shopping. It would probably be fun to live there if you were into that kind of thing. Plus, it's so clean! No litter!
China infrastructure is just massive and amazing 🔥
Eu achei silencioso demais... Será que tem algo a ver com os carros elétricos?
The car stops underground and then takes the elevator upstairs,
Thanks a lot for this spectacular round trip.
Would you mind sharing a list of your equipment?
Are the spaces in these skyscraper residential buildings only for sale or do people rent these and how much to they (usually) cost?
Have a great day.
They are for sale but you can rent it out. It's about $1200/sqm, a 3-bed apartment costs about $200 thousand dollars.
@@love_peace1996 thanks, interesting. Is renting more common than owning or is it the other way around?
The people who live here are basically from other places, and they all rent houses here. Renting is very common here
