    Instead of explosion proof fan you can use a green house fan, they are water prooof sealed which also makes them explosion proof) and are way cheaper.
    I bought a 19,000 CFM 40" for $850 for my homemade paint booth.

      That does sound like a nice option. And pretty decent circulation

      May I ask where you got one?

    As far as static goes why not just ground the booth to earth using a copper rod driven into the ground.... Works with my sandblast cabinet electricity is lazy it always seeks the easy path.

      Yeah that's a good point. Bet that would work... Thanks for checking it out.

    I understand the why for a explosion proof fan but the installation would not met NEC requirements. Your money might have been better spent by using a forced induction system with directed exhaust. Just a thought.

      Hi Steve yeah that's a good thought. Could also work. My only thought with that is that it may be harder to keep the incoming air filtered in a homemade system with forced air intake, but certainly would have been an option...
      The other downsided to mention is my setup doesn't have the typical downdraft of a official paint booth even though I did Mount my fan low to help with this, professional setup certainly do have their advantages.

    I personally don't like a paint booth I've done my best painting out in the open but my biggest issue with a metal paint booth is dealing with static

      Yes certainly can be a little bit of a problem. I will typically use a sprayer to spray the paint booth party utilizing. Keeps dust down a bit and probably also static. Obviously don't want too high humidity for painting purposes, but as long as it's 40 to 50% or so should minimize static

    What do you do for heat?

    • @MotoXr917
      @MotoXr917  10 місяців тому

      The paint booth isn't separately heated, but when painting I turn the shop furnace up which is a high-efficiency Bryant furnace. And the summer time I don't add any heat. Just try to keep it between 70 and 80 deg F

    Does a paint booth have to be air tight?

    • @MotoXr917
      @MotoXr917  6 місяців тому +2

      Not necessarily completely airtight, but the path of least resistance needs to be the air filters, not some cracks in the wall were dust and contaminated air can come through. In other words would avoid any gaps large enough to see light through or any significant air flow. If there is could just use some silicone or caulking to seal that up as that could be an entry way for dirt and dust etc. Great question let me know if the answer makes sense. Thanks for checking out my channel.

      @@MotoXr917hey buddy just setting up something similar for doing cabinets, looking at same fan, not sure what filters to use on this type of fan, does it have enough cfm to pull air through a furnace filter
