Ian's first self titled album is one of my all time favorites. I got to see them years later at the Palladium in NYC around 81 and Ian with MIck just crushed it. Such a great show. My buddy plays keys with Ian now, and Ian still rocks. Also caught the last Mott tour at the Beacon. RIP Mick Ronson you were and are a ROCK GOD.

Saw Hunter and Mick Ronson in a small theater in '87 - stood right in front of the stage staring up at Ronson. He played music beyond wielding his legendary axe. An incredibly gifted and nuanced player. Most people will never understand that he not only played but scored many of Bowie's most iconic tracks. RIP one of the greatest in rock history.

Those early didn't sell well mainly due to the lack of promotion and lack of air play . Mick Ronson played on 2 of those pre- Ziggy albums that had poor sales ; namely , The Man Who Sold The World and Hunky Dory . Only when the Ziggy album became a massive hit did those albums sell - mainly on the back of Ziggy , but also due to RCA pushing the boat out to promote them , and more crucially , promoting Bowie as a major artist .
