Once AGAIN..David Phelps and Michael English you own this one!! Love it!!
DAVID was sick? You sure can't tell It! I love this performance by the best tenor alive today. He hit this out of the park as you can see by the reaction from ALL in attendance. Everyone on their feet, all smiles and goosebumps galore......but of course they usually are. You can see the dedication he has to do his very best and he always leaves me speechless!!!

There are 2 other excellent tenors there as well. This group, hands down, is the best imo.
Simply listen to these extremely talented men at the Majestic Theatre concert in San Antonio, and without question, this is the finest and most talented combination in one group. The vocal nuances, their ability to recognize what each individual brings to the table. The powerful voices of not JUST David - but of the incredibly talented, bluesy and versatile Michael English, the vocal clarity of Wes Hampton, the sweet baritone of Mark Lowry and adding to that the wonderful bass by Bill Gaither; makes this group unequivocally the best harmony GVB ever!! Of course all the other GVB singers are talented. However, to have this many “gifted” vocalist’s together has been such an incredible blessing to those who listen to their FULL body of work, not just a song here and there. Thank you gentlemen for all you’ve given to all of us. It’s darn hard to pick a favorite, but this one is right up there in the top two or three!!

We can feel the voice of David Phelps warmed by Spirit of God, awaken the soul in the midst of the icy weather. And all standing worshiped the Lord of lords!! Praiser like live embers, coming from Almighty God. Makes it burn Lord.
everytime i watch this i know the Holy Spirit touched the men as they sang and then HE moved among His people so real Worship could begin...and i too...begin to worship our Precious Jesus

Probation for the Jewish hierarchy expired in 34 AD with the stoning of Stephen--the gospel then went to the gentiles--Paul was standing right there holding their garments and consenting to his death.

I'm Christs'--therefore I'm Abraham's seed according to the promise. If you want to be included, you must accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord!
Michael sang this long before David ever came to the vocal band in the 80's and 90's! They both do a fabulous job!

My heart must bow to the anointing that the Lord has blessed this song with. All the Martyrs that have gone before us!
Both David and Michael are EXCEPTIONAL powerhouse vocalists and they each sing this song in their own unique way with great spirit and grace -- the message is still the same - we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Beautifully done by them both!!

Yes, I saw that, it was "The Best of David Phelps", wasn't it? I think Michael is excellent at some songs that maybe David wouldn't sing as well. I just think that David has been singing this for so long, he made it his own.
The comments are priceless! I don't like the song with this one or that one...why is someone ELSE singing THAT person's song. I think that the versatility of GVB is what keeps it unique. What would happen if one of them were to become ill or God forbid we actually lost one of them from life? God bless GVB and every member who has ever sung with them. Bill did a fantastic job of finding men of vocal talent to keep Gaither music and other songs we love ALIVE!!! LOVE GVB!
A cruise with this group is a preview of being in heaven. Total immersion in His family. I can't wait to go onanother, unless I get to heaven first.

@@sethmckay May have been sick? No one knows for sure? It may have been the severe cold, almost all were wearing thick gloves. It had to be hard to sing in that--and play instruments.

I am aware of that. If you had fully read my first comment that you also commented on I said that the cold weather probably didn’t help. I’m saying nothing bad about David he’s one of my favorite singers ever and I look up to him a lot, I just thought it was cool too see more of his operatic training come into play.

What do you mean the Jews are the chosen ones? Literal Jews? Not anymore--Israel is spiritual and worldwide according to the apostle Paul in the Bible.
Probation for the Jewish hierarchy ended in 34AD with the stoning of Stephen that ended the 70 weeks of Daniel 9:24--27.
Jesus also made that plain in the parables of the vineyard, and the fig tree--the gospel went to the gentiles in 34 AD just as Jesus had said--want proof? Then reply.

I can understand what you are saying. Have you watched the Rocky Mountain version? with Guy, Russ, Bill & David? I think that was David's best on this song. The GVB is a wonderful group of vocalists and sometimes Bill switches things around. His band, his choice. lol In an interview he compared David to a clean-up hitter....to "bring it home".

There are days I CAN'T GET THRU WITHOUT LISTENING to DAVID PHELPS sing THIS SONG❣ This is exactly how I FELT when I was BAPTIZED by JEREMY C. that October Sunday with a complete back brace on. it took 2 men to baptize me to be able to let me UNDER the WATER & LIFT ME UP AGAIN. I've NEVER FELT SO CLEAN❣❣ With all my burdens, sins, & this brace I had been in for MONTHS, I FELT CLEAN & MY ""CHAINS"" had finally been WASHED, LIFTED, LIGHTER THAN EVER❗ I FELT CLEAN & I CRY EACH TIME I HEAR THIS SONG❣💋❣ The ""mud"" was like the sins, burdens, grief & sorrow that was HOLDING ME DOWN. I think David struggled because he was sick and the cold air doesn't help much. His vocal training from Baylor really came in handy here. Especially at the end note. He usually belts that note like its nothing but if you notice he uses a different technique than usual so he can still hit the note. Outstanding job! Honestly this is one of my favorite performances of this by him because his showing of just how well he's trained proves itself so well in this.

@@aimanisahac You're mistaken--I've probably watched David Phelps more times than you, and I'm a musician myself--he has never struggled singing any song--he's a professional and a very good one at that. Maybe you need your eyes and ears checked...50 years old is not old, he's not even a senior yet.

I will listen to the Israel homecoming version, the one with ONLY David Phelpd. While he might be good at somethings Michael English hasn't got this song in his repertoire.
Why is Michael signing David's song? He doesn't do it justice.

David Phelps has so much a greater voice than the others in the Gaither Band that he shines so much brighter. However if you compare him with the greats of Opera like Franco Corelli he is way behind. David would be aware of this.
