  • Each year, the majority of the flowers we grow here at Two Sisters Flower Farm- they end up in our market bouquets that we sell either from our farm stand or through our bouquet subscription program.
    Over the years, we have created lots and lots of bouquets.
    When we started selling flowers, I was very set on the fact that we’d never be a u-pick flower farm
    After all the garden was my space and I wasn’t thrilled about the idea of inviting strangers in there. And when I thought about u-pick flower gardens, my mind often wandered to the worst.
    But this year, I had a change of heart.
    And in this video, I really want to break down our experience operating as a u-pick farm. I want to share what went well, what we’d change and just share my overall impression of how it went.

    This is great information. I attended a you pick this year just to see what one was like in person and was shocked at how uneven the edges of the garden was. I thought I was going to break my ankle. I'm sure yours wasn't like that but do insurance agents come out to inspect the gardens before you can open up to the public? This is the part that is intimidating for me.

    Hey so I just discovered your channel and was watching a bunch of your videos!! Only to discover that you work on a dairy farm!!!!!! I love it!! That is were I grew up, on a dairy farm in central PA . Anyway you said in one of your videos that you're grow lights are led shop lights , I assume there is no special bulbs in them just led bulbs ? That would be so much cheaper then having to buy special grow lights . Thanks for your content and hard work !

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  2 роки тому +3

      That's so cool! Love connecting with fellow dairy farmers ;) And to answer your question, yes! I use just regular led shop lights that I buy off of Amazon.. I believe I link the exact ones I use in the description box of a previous video. I really should link them more often, but if you scroll back to the video titled "Where I Buy My Cut Flower Garden Supplies" you should find it there. Thanks for being here!

    Do you say what kind of flowers will be in bloom for the particular ticket sale? For instance 'Spring Event will have daffodils, tulips, etc.' ?

  • @karlaseamons8578

    Thank you so much for sharing this! I noticed your pricing for the events had a range. What is the difference for the customers who pay $24 and the ones who pay $34? Just curious!

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  2 роки тому +21

      The $24 was for a 'single adult ticket' and the $34 was a "adult/child combo". While we didn't have many children visit our farm this season, I wanted parents to have an option to pick smaller quantities if need be. With the adult/child combo- they received that same large jar for the adult and a smaller jar for the child to fill. Hope this helps:)

    You’ve got me thinking about having a U-pick area in my field. Would it be better to have branching sunflowers rather than single stem?

    • @linnea9017
      @linnea9017 2 роки тому +1

      Branching. They are easier to make something with,
      and also the stems are very thick. Not suitable for jarpicking as in this case. Most customers would like to have more than five flowers in their jar I think. :)

    • @twosistersflowerfarm
      @twosistersflowerfarm  2 роки тому

      We only planted single stem in our field this year. For us, the single stem varieties worked well- but it never hurts to try something else and see how it goes;)

      I think it's for visibility from a distance. They are used for a lot of things, but one use is marking property lines. It makes it much easier to see from far away to have that white on top.
