      It dies cause its an type of basil that is not sustaining itself, it on purpose not regrow good. Grow basil from normal seeds. Then the basil form flowers that produce more seeds and spread in the sourounding. Also the usual type of basil grow much higher. It will grow more basil than you can use basil spread sool fast. Of course they not sell this in the plant pots in super market cause customers will rebuy less.

I ended up with eight plants that grew so wild, and out of control. I gave away four of them. One died because it fell on the floor and I didn't see it there. The only thing I have to say is the basil plants I have left love water so I have to be mindful to water them every day. The fragrance, out of this world. They taste equally excellent.. Give it a try.

      nah, thats super pissed as French to being forced to use English as the de facto 'lingua franca' so we're gonna make a statement by going extra hard on the accent despite having a really good school system and none of the chicken/egg educational challenges facing Spaniards or Italians who would kill to improve on their English and see a much too thick accent as stigma. But surely the babes gonna love it : )
      Fun fact, in Germany there's this collective rat race going on about who's gonna have the most audible American or Bri-ish accent. This includes coming up with imaginary hybrid accents (think Lena at Eurovision) which takes up way too much mental bandwidth often at the cost of the things actually said. Ergo, a nations history (and geography/size of media market, like when there's no dubbing of EN films) really plays a major role in how it's people approach English. Luckily Netflix will help remedy this over time.

      my basil struggled a lot at first but after a month and a sprinkling of plant food from Costco it's really thriving! @@raerohan4241agreed, then the basil adapts to your home growing conditions from the start and doesn't get shocked from the change. But I’ve heard that in France the teachers speak English with a French accent so that’s how the kids learn it. Idk it just feels weird to me, and it’s crazy to me that people find Quebec or French accents sexy😮

      if you'refrom quebec then you have no clue about the french accent i can assure you that's just how we learn english as in france schools are more exigent on grammar rather than pronunciation also quebec has nothing to do with france

      @@mrg4388 If people like that accent, why not just keep it?
      Plus it's not even sure that he exagerates it on purpose, it might be his genuine accent.

    Hello! When dividing such a root-bound plant like this, is it forgivable if I rip some roots in the process?

    • @Theresia66
      @Theresia66 Рік тому +3

      Yes, no problem. They'll develop new roots. The more roots they have, the quicker they'll grow again though, so try to do it carefully

    • @thefrenchiegardener
      @thefrenchiegardener  Рік тому +6

      Yes indeed! Some may die but most of the ones divided will make it 💚

      Thank you for the replies, 1 out of 3 of my newly repotted store basils is doing well, and it has many new young leaves growing from the stems. The other 2 started to turn skinny and brown from the base of their stems (not woody) so I cut off their rotten roots and water propagate them. Their new white roots are visible today. The browning might be from me overwatering out of fear from ripping the roots

  • @Paaraadox
    @Paaraadox 11 місяців тому +2

    Another thing is to water the plant from below. Watering directly at the stem base will be worse than watering for example a small plate under the pot.

    What helped me A LOT was bio/eco basil, so basil that isn’t fertilized
    I’ve got it for like a month, and it’s growing and not stopping at all, didn’t even need to repot it

    Advice from a plant specialist: put your basil plant in a very large pot. Allow much light and water consistently.
    I did so and watched my basil "invade" the whole pot! I was so proud!!!!
