A Interaction for the Interaction God, a Comment for the Comment Throne, for the Almighty Algorithm
Why dont you change the Village name to one of your Citie Skylines names British Cities you built in Medieval times. Why not. Like Blightly on the Wold I hope I wrote that right. Clerly that is somewhere in Britain in Medieval Times. 11-12 Century.
This game is like Banished in 3D
Get the Forester's hut and staff it immediately. They will ensure enough trees are replanted.
Emmer is one of two names for one of the two most ancient forms of wheat, the other being Einkorn. Emmer has slightly higher yields and is slightly more resistant to drought and high heat, but both are quite hardy, flavorful, and pest resistant, and neither much mind temperature, saline conditions, floods or droughts.
Some day i hope that we get a city builder that starts out like this and where we can advance into not just modern day, but also the future. Imagine being able to go from Manor Lords to Simcity to Cyberpunk.
That would be amazing!
That sounds perfect!
That WOULD be really interesting! Even a proper cyberpunk/neo-future styled and themed citybuilder would be really neat, too! I really ilke the look and feel of a lot of the medieval ones (this, Foundation), I bet it'd be fun to go in the other direction too, especially with all the grimy bits of most neo-future fiction (even if that had to bump up ratings), and where you might HAVE to live with/purposely make certain citizens unhappy (parts of the city relying on exploiting certain classes etc.) so the city can actually function in the way those kinds of cities usually rely on, then dealing with conflicts that occur. That'd be an interesting concept!
I recommend Civ 6, Its is the closest thing you can find to that now.
Sounds like tropica
Lord Biffa running through the wheat field like he's Theresa May. 🤣
Also, someone show Colossal Order that in fact it is possible to have buildings along a curved road.
It's the naughtiest thing he's ever done
😂😂😂😂
This game is so beautiful that you almost don't wanna build anything as not to destroy the gorgeous trees :)
So true! :-)
I believe there is a forester hut you can place, that way you have somebody replanting for future lumber. I think I saw it on one of City Planner Plays videos
This game makes CS2 look like it was made 30 years ago with their pooltable grasslands. This game looks SO good!
Was just going to this what CS2 should have looked like.
@@willdreon9558 They pretended it would be, their announcement trailer looked amazing, and used Unreal Engine. We were promised a real horse, and we got a wooden stick.
The announcement trailer for CS1 used the Unity engine, and they used that in the actual game. They promised what back then was a horse, and they delivered a horse.
yeap, looks like a Unity game...which it sadly is
I would say its more comparable to settlers... and... the new setlers game was not briljant
As a huge fan of this genre, i want this game like... NOW!!!
Just a couple more weeks, mate. I've been following this for a couple years. It'll be here soon.
April 24th
@@alexanderlow919 26th aint it?
All of us disappointed in CS2 are just itching to get at this game 😂
Emmer is an ancient form of wheat that has not changed in thousands of years. It is drought, pest, disease, and temperature resistant, both hot and cold, and it doesn't care to much if the conditions are saline or if the soil quality is bad.
Sir, what have you done to the real Biffa? The real Biffa would have taking that time during a game save break to have a sip of tea, some yorkshire tea. I feel scammed...
Also...is it really a Biffa play through without a jumpy game? 😀
Imposter!
The real Biffa would've made more roundabouts...
@@DantesGrill imagine turning this into a traffic management game 🤣
i like the way it upgrades the houses by adding new elements to it
i really enjoyed that on Frostpunk, where you were not required to demolish a building in order to ugprade it
wish more games did stuff like that
Foundation does that really well too!
The regional names in game are German. "Zweiau" is pronounced ... - ok, this is complicated for English speakers.
"Z" in German sound like a Ts (hard t followed by a sharp s sound), "w" is like v in "very", "ei" is like the i in "hi" and "au" is like "ow". So: "Tsvi-ow".
It's a compound word made from "Zwei" = two and "Au(e)" = meadow near water, may be seasonally submerged.
And it's great so see you play some fresh indie games, Biffa. Always looking for ideas. Timberborn is a charm. 😊
Thanks! @henrysalayne :-)
I was already thinking about how I could explain how to pronounce Zweiau, great job! 😂
We will just pronounce it however we like thanks. I assume most germans don't pronounce english words perfectly, and no one cares.
depends on the region though. I'm dutch, and for me it's just a regular Z. I do think the TSSWHY would be a good explanation for the ZW sound.
e.g. Fahrzeug, I never heard that said with a heavy TS sound, more a lower Z.
To dumb it down even further and "englishify" it... would it be too far off the mark to pronounce it "Tis-vinyl". I realize there is no "n" sound in the word... maybe cut that out of the pronunciation? If not, ignore me. I'm an uncultured American.
Great another city builder for me to get hugely interested in without ever getting around to playing 😂🤣
this is how I feel 😂😂
Words cannot describe how excited I was to see Biffa playing manor lords
Medival Villages normally had the Church very close to the Manor House, so leave plenty of area arround the Manor House as it will eventually be upgraded to Castle with 3 or 4 extra buildings with the Market Place in the center of the Village/Town, not too far from the Village Pub.
Gives me good ole day vibes with Biffa playing Banished ❤
I’ve been watching your gameplays for years now. I grew up watching all of your videos…..love you biffa!
Thanks! :-)
We can all trust you to play and show us the best games ! Soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew I'd love it !!!!
Biffa knows best ! 🙏👍 Tea ready! Let's go 🤗
Enjoy :-)
FINALLY. I've been patiently waiting years for this!! It looks breathtaking, I cannot wait to play it 😭
Grats on 700k!!! I just noticed! ❤❤😊
Love your videos Biffa and love the look of this game. Would love to see more of this. Should be interesting once everything is unlocked and the game is out of early access. Hope this makes it into your regular rotation. Such a good looking game!
2 more epsiodes already recorded! :-)
I am sooo excited for this game! What a treat!! ❤❤
Enjoy! :-)
I'm so pumped for this series. BTW I think in order for your Burgages to give you money, you need to upgrade them to level two. If they are big enough, they will house an additional family and give you money. But be careful, the needs will also rise, so it's harder to keep them content. (But I could be wrong).
Its not carrots that generates wealth, it's Tier 2 Burgages that does it.
This is such a gem of a game , i am looking forward to this series Biffa , as i like to watch your videos regardless what game you play.
Biffalandia is off to a great start.
This game looks a lot like Farthest Frontier.
I've been waiting ages with this game on my Wishlist. Thank you for the sneak peek! :D
Been excited for this since the demo phase a couple of years ago. Congrats on the early access and thank you for letting me have my Manor Lords fix until it officially releases.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching you play this game! It has flown completely under my radar but after watching you play it, I'll be getting this once I complete my computer upgrade, look forward to the next episode! Glad you're feeling better now and able to resume with great content
Thanks! @N1troki11er :-)
Hey Biffa, love that your playing this and loved the video! Glad to see there is a playlist with more of these videos.
Also, I suggest playing Foundation. It's very similar in gameplay and it's developed a lot further so has more features, though graphics are more 'cartoony' I guess.
Keep up the great work!
Oh boy! I can't wait for the release of this game!
The game and the play through we have all been waiting for! 👍
I am SO HYPE for this game!
I just found out about this game and so glad to see you playing it! So chilled and relaxed.
Love the editing
Also looking forward to this game so much, Hopefully the community is supportive of the Dev
Definitely want to see more of this game. Looks beautiful!
I've been waiting on this game for 4 years. I've had it in my wishlist forever and I can not wait to play it!! Super jelly!
Shoutout to Herman carrying this village, absolute GIGACHAD
💪
so excited for this! I've been waiting for this game for years!!
Been waiting for this game since I first saw it last year. So happy it’s nearly here now.
Please sir, can we have some more? :D Cannot wait for this game. Nice video :)
I can't wait to see more of this game!
Such a beautiful game with so many options and so realistic. Really is amazing! Enjoy watching and laughing with you as usual 🤩 Look forward to more!!
So, it looks like Banished 2 to me. Will be happy to try
I really enjoy this! Looking forward to next episode!
that wonderful feeling that Biffa has been waiting for the same game you have been waiting for
glad your playing something different! i love your channel and i hope it expands and gets bigger!
LOVED this!
Looking forward to more Manor Lords videos! The game looks amazing.
I love how you get distracted... you needed planks for the herb garden, and by the time you had planks you forgot about it 😂
Dammit. I was already excited for this game. Now even more so! Great work, friend!
This looks amazing.
Always funny how people showing off games often comment on how important the speed of time is, so mention pausing, then proceed to go to commenting and showing off how beautiful things are, before ever issuing any directions, all while they don't have the game paused. Thus wasting time that the in game units could otherwise be at least starting on tasks.
From what I have seen (Was unaware of this game before the demo was taken down, so I only have observations of others who recorded gameplay.
1. While it is important to get housing up soon, to minimize the disapproval from homelessness, if you build houses first, you will run out of timber to build other things.
2. A Logging camp is important for increasing timber supplies, which are important for many constructions, including production buildings.
3 Getting a well is very cheap, improves life for the people and affects their approval.
4 As early as possible you should get a Granary (place to store food) and a Storehouse (place to store other goods) very quickly, because your supplies are otherwise out and exposed to the elements, which means rain can destroy your starting supplies.
So my take would be look at the fertilities and underground water (with the game paused) right at the start. You don't want to find you put logging camp on the best fertility site for your food. Place an order for your logging camp, your granary and your storehouse. Let your people build them. Assign 1 family to each to start producing your timber and moving your supplies into covered storage. After that is done, your options are more flexible going forward. But get at least these three sites built from the start.
Example: at 11:18 you have placed your logging camp (this is good, you can get more timber) then you placed your 3 Burgage plots which will consume your remaining timber. But your starting food and other supplies are sitting out in the uncovered storage of the "homeless tent" starting point. I have seen rain start to fall pretty quickly, and as I understand this can quickly lead to the destruction of months worth of supplies if they are still uncovered at the time.
You touched on this at 12:50-12:56 but some plays I've seen, rain started within the time it took to build 1 logging camp, 1 granary, 1 storehouse and they started building another structure without assigning families to the storage locations, to speed construction of their forager hut, and in time, these uncovered supplies are damaged and eventually will be destroyed
16:17 By looking at this screen you can see means by which you can improve the approval of the people. You still need two more Burgage plots for the remaining two families, but adding a well (costs 1 timber) would check the "water access" check box for amenities, which has a significant impact on the approval of the people. The church access is more expensive. Once you establish a market, the people will start building stalls in the market for the exchange of goods. Once you build a woodcutter hut, you will start being able to produce firewood, which should trigger the people to build a fuel stall in the market. Each of the supplied stalls will affect the people's approval
18:45-19:00 You're admiring the puddles from the rain, meanwhile your supplies are sitting out in the open and since you're in cinematic camera mode you're not seeing the red warnings about the exposed goods until you come out of cinematic mode. Then you proceed to ignore the lack of storage for your food and other goods to let the other burgage plots be built first, meaning you're continuing to risk your food supply.
When deciding about where to build, especially in a time sensitive situation like your food is being rained on, it's a good idea to pause the game and work out the build commands and priorities while no time is passing in game.
21:22 It is showing you have 4 houses occupied, the +2 are not completed yet. This means you still have 1 unhoused/homeless family. The level 1 Burgage cannot house multiple families.
Regional Wealth 24:40-24:46 When you are able to expand and upgrade your Burgage Plots to level 2, you are able to have 2 families in 1 expanded plot, and each of those will produce 1 wealth per month per family in it. Burgage Plots at level 1 produce no wealth, can house only one family each, and have lower expectations/needs.
29:50-29:57 Approval "Past 30 days" is recent history, it then after 30 days drops into "previous" and then eventually drops off, I am not certain if it is 60 days, 90 days, etc. But a problem with approval in the past 30 days will move to previous and eventually drop off. A short while ago you had homelessness -1 in both previous and past 30 days, you now have -2 in previous but none in last 30 days,
30:07-30:09 "I think trees will grow back anyway"
I don't know if they will naturally grow back, there's a production building for replanting trees (The Forester's Hut), which makes me believe they either do not grow back naturally, or the regrowth is extremely slow without the forester replanting them.
32:00-32:05 Regarding the market stalls and assigned families. Families assigned to jobs, such as the family assigned to foraging, one member of the family may be foraging, while another family member goes to the market and sets up a stall to sell the berries. Likewise a family at the woodcutters, if there are 3 members 1 may be cutting a tree, while 1 is actually chopping the firewood and the last 1 has gone to market to sell the firewood. The assigned families are families assigned to jobs that produce items, a member of the family then will, at times, take goods to the market.
33:18-33:27 The storages (Granary and Storehouse) are kind of important, because if you depend entirely on the market stalls, production site and burgage plot storages, what happens when winter comes and you only have your forager for food? The forager hut only allows a limited storage, the food stall only holds so much, and there will not be berries growing in the winter, so if you don't have a stockpile, you will end up running out of food. [on that note, you really should be looking at another food source and it's already late enough in the year you probably won't be able to get farms up and running to harvest wheat, make it into flour and turn it into bread before the growing season ends. With a small population, you have plenty of food, but as you get more families and expand your Burbage Plots, you will need more food than your foragers can provide]
You're building plenty of level 1 housing (Burgages Plots) but until that approval reaches 50, no new families are going to come in. The addition of the market and the installation of the well should offset the remaining "previous" homelessness soon and then that will drop off as well. 37:52 with the opening of the market, your approval got the +2 because there is food at the market, which now offsets the older -2 of homelessness,
38:59-39:19 The housing is "how many families do you have housing for" and the +x is "how many more are currently under construction" (they are +x because they are being built but are not yet ready for occupying) You were at 9 (+1) then the burgage was completed and now you are at 10 with no plus. You can house 10 families, you only have 5 families still.
Emmer is a form of wheat. All emmer is wheat, not all wheat is emmer. I would suggest you create at least 2 different field sets. This way you can alternate wheat between different fields to reduce depletion of the soil, but always have a wheat crop every year.
44:25 You're looking at taking the Foragers off the Forager hut. this will close their market stall, and your "market food variety" will end, dropping your approval.
46:44 Your approval dropped because you no longer have the active Market food variety, which was offsetting the -2 "previous" homelessness, but you took the foragers off their job, so they abandoned the market stall, ending that bonus, now you have to wait for the market to replenish that bonus. The prior "homelessness" hasn't dropped off yet.
51:30 instead of going to each Burgage Plot, at the top left you have "unassigned families" then "assigned families" then "housing space total" You will see you have currently zero 0 unassigned, six 6 assigned and 10 housing, it's much faster than going house to house to see how many more families you have room for.
51:57 Wheat and Rye are the grain converted to flour, flax is used for cloth, and barley is used for ale, Rye is a more resilient grain, and doesn't have the fertility needs that wheat does, but it's locked behind a couple development points.
Strictly speaking, you don't have to have a family dedicated to the farm, another for the windmill and third for the baking. It depends on your level of production. If your farm harvests wheat then your farmers move to the windmill to grind all the wheat to flout, they could then move to the baking, but it would require micromanagement and could affect your market food variety. Not sure if the communal oven needs to be assigned a family. But you've only gone from spring into autumn. This is not the first year. As the Starks say "Winter is coming."
Thank you for explaining things well enough for my old brain to follow. I had to give up watching one UA-cam vid as the person knew even less than I did! I want to learn enough that I enjoy the game if/when I get it not spend all my time trying to work out the mechanics of this beautiful game. Just subscribed
You're welcome! 😁👍
It really has been 84 years! I can't wait to play soon
This looks like a prettier version of Banished. I'm excited for it and looking forward to more of your build.
I for one am enjoying this variety of content! Cheers man 🍻
👍😁
Oh! Its like an very good "sequel" to Banished, I hope when it get released we will get some really good gameplay out of this. Really enjoy this type of games.
been wanting to see you play this
Very excited that you are playing this game!
Great video and another entertaining game. The graphics look superb - looking forward to seeing what Winter looks like
So excited for this game!
Got the game today, year 2 just started. I feared a bit that it would be a lot like Banished, but it seems to be much better and so far not as punishing. Sure you need to keep an eye on your supplies, but it isn't as extreme. The game really wants you to build a thriving city and not just survive. Really cool so far, better than I expected.
I struggled a bit in my first year, wanted to build too many buildings at the same time.
But now in March year 2 I got a decent wood production and some minor trading starting up. 10 families so far with food and fuel for 9 months and seeing it's spring it will start going up.
I could have been more time efficient in year 1, but overall just very positive experience.
This game seems REALLY cool! thanks Biffa
I'll wait till the game actually released on the 26th to get community comments, City Skyline 2 showed that I am best to wait, but I like what I am seeing! It is a fine balance between building something that looks like a working town and it just turning into a factory building game.
I will say the next City Skylines/Simcity style modern city builder has to do something like those dynamic lot layout. I'm tired of grid squares, especially since we can now build unique road layouts easily (best part of the City Skylines 2 in my mind) that would have unique lot solutions. Especially around curves and cul-de-sac.
Kinda amazing that city builder looks like it could be third person whatever game. I hope devs didn't bite more than they can chew. Looking forward for this game.
*dev, **he - it's solo dude making an indie game
so looking forward to this one!
@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines I hope you’re planning to make more ManorLords videos . Your voice and the way you play it is zo fun to watch!❤
can't wait for the full release.
Lol the walk around had me laughing hard. Game looks fun!
48:00 just sold the game for me. I'm buying it as soon as I can. WOW!
Can’t wait to get to play this game!
Thanks Biffa, helps a lot!
Glad to help!
This game looks amazing!!!!!
37:35 vegetables seasoned with Herman's outhouse aroma! 😄
Free fertiliser.
21:08 4 families are living in a house, the +2 means there are two extra houses, but they are not in use yet, because they are not finished. The 5th family is still living in the tents and is not included in these number
I think it rather shows the current amount, and the one under construction. As you can see, once they are finished, it shows 6, even tho he has only 5 families
This looks like a great game! Can’t wait to see more
Woot - thanks Biffa, this was great to play during the glimpse they gave us before.
Glad you enjoyed it
Cannot wait to play this game!
its finally here
Enjoy :-)
well not really, still cant play, still need to wait till the 26th :(
Oh dear! Felling the village tree = Sycamore Gap?
Another game on my wishlist - thanks Biffa
theres never been a faster like than biffa playing manor lords i dont even need to watch it
I cant wait for this game to be released!
@Biffa, the little outhouse is usually the toilet, as it wasn't located inside the living quarters back in the day.
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WANTING since I’ve been playing Age of Empires
This reminds me so much of Banished! I can’t wait to try this game out
I think assigned families in the marketplace info, means families assigned to something. Cuz it looks like its only one "job" for the family.
And the (+2) for the homes, I think it means what is being built, so, "you will have 2 more soon".
thank you ! made a cuppa tea and jumping right in
Perfect!
I loved the demo when it came out a few years back. So glad it's moving forward and can't wait to play it. One thing you didn't do was hunt for wild animals.
Dammit Biffa I just got back into Foundation this week, now I've got another game to play! This looks really cool, love the detail of everything!
this is a really nice game, liked it a lot. 👍👍👍
Now I only need to watch Keralis play this and my life would be complete!
finally, someone I actually enjoy watching is playing this 😅 i dont have anything against any of the other YTers but lets face it, theyre not a patch on Biffa
Awww shucks 😊
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines looking forward to seeing this series with the full release. and obviously getting some tips 🤣
the graphics look awesome, I am definitely going to play this game. it reminds me of foundation
Lookin forward to picking up a copy of this game!
I like this game. Please play more.
Oh I'm so glad your doing this game😊 it's on my wishlist but wasn't sure how it would be after the disappointment of the settlers game
Nice Video!
I think I'm hooked. And Im not sure if it's the game or if I just really appreciate your play style and enthusiasm! Either way, I can definitely see myself watching and playing this game.
😁👍
this even looks more amaizng than it was on demo :O
I believe your houses need to he lv2 to gain money. And i really hope you do a fully fledged series of this game. It looks amazing 🎉❤
I think the + value next to the houses icon designates how many burgage plots are under construction, not how many are free/available.
