Just FYI, but the old man in the car that Scott lands on is Garrett Morris. He was the first person to ever play Ant-Man in a live action setting, even if it was during a Saturday Night Life skit. That's why they gave him a cameo in this film.

"Ant-Man" might not sound like much, but Pym is genuinely one of the most dangerous people in the MCU (both thanks to Pym particles, and to his mind), and even more in the comics, where he's much more unstable and where _he_ created Ultron and was the original Yellowjacket, both during one of his manic phases.
He's also one of Marvel's earliest characters (excepting those from the forties like Captain America), dating all the way back to January 1962's _Tales to Astonish_ #27 as Henry _Hank_ Pym and September 1662's #35 as Ant-Man, and being a founding member of the Avengers.

For me it was the first Guardians. A D-List comic where two of the key characters were going to be fully CGI and starring the simple-minded guy from Parks & Rec? And it was going to have nothing to do with Earth or any other Avenger?

The characters eventually escape their microscopic world and come to ours... and the first official Superhero they meet was Ant Man (Hank Pym in this case). Hank Pym was played by Michael Douglas, who has had a long distinguished career since the 60's. He portrayed Gordon Gekko in "Wall Street" another great 80's film for your list. Gordon Gekko is considered one of the great film villains of all time, and Douglas won both an Academy Award and Golden Globe for his performance. At the beginning of "Ant Man", that was Douglas, de-aged through CGI, alongside John Slattery as Howard Stark.

In case nobody else mentions it, another important cameo in this movie: comedian Garrett Morris in the car that Scott falls on was technically the first guy to wear an Ant-Man costume, on TV way back in the 70's. It was a Saturday Night Live skit, and a bunch of superheroes were having a party. When "Ant-Man" shows up, nobody knows who he is, and they make fun of him when he explains that he can shrink to the size of an ant with the strength of a human. "Hey, Hulk, come here! I noticed before Kevin Smith pointed them out because I’d seen Steve Agee when we first got there picking up our passes at Will Call because he’s soooo freakin tall!! Dude is 6’7 and very unique looking. He bumped into me and was very nice and apologized. I told my Husband who he was and he had no idea who he was. Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher 2) was there as well. Incorrect!
When Hope said "About damn time," she was referring to Ashleigh's Monthly Millennial Marvel Movie Member Request.
I say the same thing every time she drops one.

Ashleigh: "What's an ant man going to do? Shrink down to unlock doors for the people with much better powers?"
Me: **smiles and grabs popcorn** "You are going to LOVE this film!"

Me, after watching her review: "Did you hear that phone ring? 'Cuz I called it!"

YES! I finally got my Mother to watch Ant-Man with me the other night, and she loved it. Now that you've watched this film... I know you still have a lot more Marvel movies to go. But Ant-Man and the Wasp is just as good as this one... if not better. One more thing, now that you've also seen Paul Rudd in his resurgence, as an actor. You should definitely check out Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Paul plays a character named Gary Grooberson in that film, he is hilarious... and the movie itself is a lot of fun, a well deserved 3rd chapter. Great reaction Ashleigh, keep doing what you're doing!

Yoooo, I seeing the title on posters and thinking "....really?" Luckily I worked at a movie theater at the time and was swayed by the little bits I saw while auditorium checks.
So happy you're enjoying the MCU ride!

To be honest, Ashleigh, I was skeptical of an Ant-Man movie, too. And I grew up with comics! I honestly couldn't understand how they could make a feature-length film. But they did and I was impressed. 🙂
