I have tremendous difficulty pulling needle through once it’s wrapped. Any suggestions on how to avoid that? I am trying not to wrap too tightly, but some of mine have to wrap about 28-30 times for long sea weed looking stitches.

This stitch definitely takes some practice, but some tips I can offer:
      1. Some needles have more of a bulbous eye so if that's the case with yours then switch to one where it's tapered at the eye.
      2. Carefully rub the wraps back and forth slightly as you pull the needle through. This can sometimes help it along.
      3. You may have to make the wraps a bit looser. Try a few practice stitches with half as many wraps then do a few more, each time adding more wraps. Sometimes, baby steps can help you figure out if you're doing something that might be making it easier or harder.
      I hope these tips help!

I use a pair of pliers. The pliers are always in my sewing kit 😂 but I almost exclusively work on denim. Sometimes leather. So it’s a harder to pull the needle through regardless.
As Bella said(the expert); less bulbous eye and maybe a more thin needle if you would like to avoid using pliers.

I'm just learning how to embroider. How many stands of floss should be used for the bullion stitch?

Hi! I would recommend starting with 6 strands which is what I used in the video and when you wrap it around the needle don't wrap it too tightly (or too loose for that matter) or it'll be difficult to pull the needle through. It also helps if the eye of the needle is tapered. Some needles have a bulbous eye and that can cause issues. Hope that helps! Good luck 🙂

Did you use the same holes A and B to complete the stitch? I am using 14 count Aida.

You can use the same holes if you'd like, but you don't absolutely have to as long as you're close. Here's a link to my blog post which has close up photos: www.bellasavoy.com/blogs/stitch-tutorials/bullion-stitch-tutorial. I hope that helps! 🩷
