This was another major mistake: Not only was Peter going too slow, but he was trying to do something that (we can assume) Mr. Martinelli didn't specifically request. He should have just stuck to the part or parts of the bike that Mr. Martinelli said needed fixing. If you try to do more than what you're asked to do in that kind of job, you're asking for trouble b/c you'll just take longer to finish the job.

I think his customers knew how long it would take to fix the bike so he told Mr. Williams when it would be ready. True it is only for recreation but when you tell somebody how long it will take you trust it is what it is supposed to be. So he is supposed to say yeah go ahead Peter and take your time. Plus later he gave Peter a commission for two bikes he convinced his parents to buy. You just want to feed the old people pills and stick them off in a home somewhere just because it isn't an emergency.
