I was fortunate enough to see the Blind Boys including Jimmy Carter, and guest Aaron Neville live in Australia a few years ago, and God's grace shone brightly through these wonderful gentleman. Great memories.
I'm not religious but I really dig the positive, heartfelt vibes of Gospel music. Blind Boys of Alabama & NPR got my heart full and feeling hopeful we'll get through this crazy time.
@@dildonius I totally agree! The heart and sound is universal and can resonate with people from all walks. Just for me though I have some trauma around organised religion, so have tended to avoid music that references God and/or Gospel which means I have missed out on some great music (like this.)
I want to enrich my life with good music for a long time like these people. I'm a busker who doesn't have a name now, but I really want to do this kind of deep music someday. I wish you all good health and happiness.
Since I couldn't find it anywhere else, here's who's performing: For the front row(From left to right) Ricky McKinnie - Vocals Jimmy Lee Carter - Vocals Ben Moore - Vocals Joey Williams - Guitar And behind them is Ben Odam - Bass Austin Moore - Percussion Special thanks to Charles Driebe for helping me identify everyone!
Thanks for sharing this lovely session and honoring this music treasure. This music reminds me of my maternal grandparents and great grandmother. The gentleman singing in the groaning tone took me out 😭😭😭😭😭😭 my great grandmother would sing and groan all the time in the garden 😭😭😭😭😭🤦🏾♀️
I saw them live in Cincinnati years ago with my Dad. He passed away this year and to see this pop up on my feed made my day. What a great concert and great memory ❤️
I first heard about the Blind Boys of Alabama through M.C. Taylor and Phil Cook of Hiss Golden Messenger fame. I grew up on gospel music in the Methodist church, and this music always brings me so much peace when I listen to it. I’ve made a habit of turning on one of their albums on shuffle during late night anatomy and physiology study sessions. Thank you to NPR as per usual, this channel has shaped my music taste and life so much over the past few years.
That rendition of Amazing Grace is just incredibly soulful. There are no right words to describe it. Got some serious House of the Rising Sun vibes going on
Love Y'all Memory Of You Coming To Santa Cruz And Singing A Few Bars With My Daddy Jay Dixon Rip During The Holidays At The Rio Theatre God Bless You All Keep Shinning Your Beautiful Light Thank You ~☆
Love the Blind Boys ever since I heard and got their album ‘ Spirit Of The Century ‘ about 20 years ago. Amazing Grace played to The House Of The Rising Sun on that album is incredible.
Sae them a couple of years ago. Serious buy any ticket if you can, hands down one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Extremely moving and borderline on a religious experience.
I was introduced to the Blind Boys when I watched “Fighting Temptations” that starred Beyoncé, Cuba Gooding, Angie Stone, Shirley Caesar, Eddie Levert, Montell Jordan, and many other singers and rappers.
That’s interesting. Are they also extra-charismatic & intelligent, as well? As in, Stevie Wonder & José Feliciano aren’t necessarily exceptions who are excellent musicians, who happen to be blind, and are also immensely witty, charming & lovable? Blind Joe on The Voice US (don’t remember which season) was also really charming & funny.
I got a lot of respect for these fellows and the guitarist is pretty good. But I'm good on the rest of it keep Truckin fellas and God bless you may the Lord Jesus Christ guide you on your path and heal you of your pain. Amen
i am part of the blind community. he may be partial sight or was born sighted and lost it later because it is a habitual thing to do even after you lose your sight
ouztaki like the other commenters said, some members are blind and some are not. But it’s also important to know that a blind person can still have the same body language if they lost their vision later in life. It’s also possible they’re legally blind (still have some vision) or have another kind of visual impairment that is not full blindness.
Perfect for a Sunday morning.
Bright blessings everyone.
Stay safe.🕉👊

Their music is deeper than the religiosity that's on the surface.

Hearing these songs remind me of before going to church as we got dressed and had breakfast when growing up. I truly miss those days...
Make new memories! Do you do this with your kids?
@@joshuahubbard4919 I did when she was little. We have great memories too, but the singing is not quite the same these days.

God bless you all ... nice voices

coming from the blind community it is very common for excellent musicians and singers to come from it.

I’m thinking the guitarist on the right is not blind? He keeps looking at his finger positions. Good show though, awesome ❤️
It says right there in the description that some members are blind and some members are not.
