- It's Christmas season! A new year is right around the corner. So some of you may be thinking about starting a UA-cam channel or upgrading your equipment. I thought I'd share my current and past equipment and my recommendations for if you're just starting.

The weirdest thing about your profile picture glitch is that when you look at your channel it's a christmas present but when you like a comment it's back to your original profile picture

Thats a lot, I have a family computer desktop but not my own laptop

ATTENTION
if anyone is wondering about editing softwares and doesn’t want to spend a ton on premiere pro or something else, get DAVINCI RESOLVE. Its completely free and very good!

Awesome video Sean! I also use a Canon EOS M50 and Adobe Premiere Pro/Lightroom. I like using the software and equipment that I have. I don't think any other UA-camr (that I know of) uses the same camera and editor which is interesting:) Nice Job!
If you need a cheap microphone I would recommend the Fifine K669B. It costs $30 and sounds very similar to the blue yeti.
The best free video editing software is definitely Davinci Resolve!

When I started my channel, I was filming on my smartphone with a crappy smartphone mic from Best Buy. It definitely works, but getting a DSLR is more ideal

I'm actually in the process of re-doing how I set goals and working through all of that.
I'm reading the book 12 Week Year which proposes thinking in 12 week blocks instead of full years. That way as you set the goal you can make a week by week action plan to accomplish the goal. So after 12 weeks you can evaluate whether you hit the goal AND whether you followed through on the plan. So if you missed the goal you can tweet future goals and your next 12 week action plan.
I'm also looking to shift away from setting big lofty goals which are too far out of my control. I can control my actions and set massive action plans. But there's so much about subscriber growth which I have absolutely no control of.
....all that to say I haven't set any yet. hahaha

Cool! I have the same green screen and light setup. However, I still use the 930e and I use the Samson Q2u, a Dynamic Microphone and not a Condenser because I DO NOT have sound treatment lol.
I started off using my phones (Motorola G and HTC Desire 501) but now i also use my Olympus SZ-14 but i don't have a microphone just yet.

I actually have the Blue Snowball mic (a friend of mine gave me his when I first mentioned I want want to make a UA-cam channel). Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to sync it up to the Logitech webcams? If so I might invest in one, but otherwise I might just start with my phone
One thing I personally struggle with is editing and thumbnails, looking for any help or advice

If you are looking for a free video editing software, check out HITFILM. The interface is very professional like premier, and it has built in VFX tools. It's a fantastic program. Highly, highly recommend. Btw, there is a free version and a paid version. The free version is awesome.

Also COPPA checklist because if your video has anything that appeals to kids, even if it is not intended for them, it is a waste to spend hours editing said video in 2020 since sno one will find it except subscribers you already have, and ONLY if they literally type your name in the search and go to your channel, or if it's on other social media sure but that still requires people to know who the heck you are.
So you have to make sure your videos don't break the rulesof COPPA and you're golden.
That....is a very doomsday interpretation of things

Big fan of your channel but the let you know you been doing this for seven years. You started in 2012.
No. "Sean Chandler Talks About" started in July of 2016. I have not been "doing this" for 7 years. Posting a video every 6 months under a different name does not qualify as "doing this."
If you want to lump all of my movie projects together, then I started over 20 years ago before YouTUbe existed.
I'm not sure if you thought I was confused, forgot, or just wanted to correct me. But "Sean Chandler Talks About" did not start in 2012. That is factually untrue.

So use of trailer footage legally falls under fair use. You're allowed to use the footage for the purpose of evaluation and review.
But that doesn't stop studios from CLAIMING the footage. It's VERY uncommon for someone to give you a COPYRIGHT STRIKE. A STRIKE puts your channel in jeopardy of being shut down and you can lose things like live streaming. I've NEVER been given a STRIKE or threatened with one. I've had a couple friends get a STRIKE but they appealed it.
On the other hand, COPYRIGHT CLAIMS are very common. This is when a studio says they own the footage in the video BUT they will let you keep the video up. Usually they also claim the monetization.
FOR ME:
* It's pretty common for my trailer reactions (which show the whole trailer and use audio) to get a copyright claim (thus I don't make money from them)
* It's pretty uncommon for my reviews or rankings (which just use short clips without audio) to get copyright claims.
To avoid getting claims on my reviews and rankings
* I rarely use audio
* If I use audio I speed up the clip and put like a film reel overlay on top of it
* I try to keep the clips I show under 5 seconds
* I pay attention to which studios are most likely to give out claims. Disney RARELY claims ANYTHING. SO for Marvel properties I use lots of clips. UNIVERSAL is HORRIBLE about dubious claims. SO I use less footage.
So this last week I did 3 trailer reactions. The 2 from Disney did not get a copyright claim. The Jame Bond film DID get a copyright claim.
