Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 чер 2024
- For our last day in Cebu, we’re making our third attempt at swimming with the Philippines’ iconic whale sharks. After canceling our first excursion last year and then coming up empty handed in Donsol a few months ago, we’re REALLY hoping that the third time’s a charm as we head into Oslob this morning. Let’s get to it.

ABOUT US
We’re the Lockwoods. And we’re traveling the world to experience-up close and in person-all the natural wonders and distinct cultures that our kids would otherwise be consuming only through textbooks and TV. We think it’s a better way to learn and we’re working hard to fund this little experiment in the hope that our kids will grow up wiser, kinder, and more grateful for the beauty of our diverse planet and its people.
So happy you guys finally got to experience these gentle giants 👏 👏They’re so magical and surreal. Nia said B&C were so brave! They didn’t even think twice about jumping in. No fear! Also loved their adorable voice overs 🥰
Aww I miss those little babies. Give them big hugs from all of us. The whale sharks were so special to be that close. So happy the Ocampowood kids got to experience it! Even if it wasn’t at the same time 🤗
🥰
oslob is the best compromise , before the tourism they were hunted and sold at the fish market , now with tourism local people have found an alternative , the whale sharks are alive , local fishermen have income and the environment has been in its best shape ever. this is because people have realized that taking care of the marine life and the environment in general is beneficial for both the people and the animals.its a win win for all parties tourists are guaranteed to see them , local people get to have jobs, the whalesharks are alive and healthy , the environment is well taken cared of.! have done it three times and never ceases to stun and amaze me!!!
Erin, I love how you checked out the humongous spider because Colt was so excited about it. You are such a great mom.
🤗🥰 it’s amazing what we’ll do for our kids!
The best travel vlog! Very informative, well edited, fast phased. No boring moments! Keep it up guys! Already subbed 😊

There is so much to do in the Philippines, beautiful you just choose where you want to visit either swimming in beautiful beaches so clear and pristine water. Mountains, waterfall or stay in the capital. Thank you guys for sharing your videos Watching from 🇬🇧
We were definitely going through the motions with you guys, except for the part about waking up early...You guys are travel warriors.
Ha! I feel like you could tell how much of a brain fog I had without coffee ☕️ 😆
I never skip ads for this beautiful family!
🇨🇦 🇵🇭
Im from cebu but i have not been to that place.. One day, I will experience swimming those beautiful whalesharks. Enjoy guys and thanks for visiting our country❤❤❤
You really should! It was a great experience. The whale sharks are so big and so gentle.
I am afraid of big fishes (including whale sharks) but seeing Colt and Brooklyn enjoying Whale sharks seems like a good start of loving them. I have never tried this but I can now say that I will.
That’s so great to hear. If or when you do go, you won’t regret it. The whale sharks are really very harmless
The whale sharks are free to swim around. They come for the food that the locals have been feeding them even before this became a tourist attraction.
We loved the opportunity to be near them 😊

After you're done with your whale-shark tour, there are still so many things to do in the area. It does not end there; just a few minutes away, you will experience the mesmerising and magical Tumalog Falls, which is also very popular among tourists; also, Sumilon Island; snorkeling; the famous Sardine Run; Swimming with the turtles; the famous adrenaline-pumping adventure of Canyoneering; enjoy the local food; the nature; and many more!

They were wonderful!
It works both ways … you get your adventure & cherish it with your love ones for the rest of your life … and you in turn boost the tourism which gives the locals the livelihood they need to help their family & conserve the environment for both humans & the whale sharks … 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🐳

Thank you! So happy we finally had the experience, and are even happier to share it with you. 🫶
@Always be Changing....The natural prey/food of whale sharks are krills, tiny crustaceans that look like shrimps in appearance. Those whole sharks have been visiting Oslob since time immemorial because that's their natural feeding ground as it is also where krills are most abundant. Take note that the mass tourism in Oslob involving whale sharks only came very recently, in 2012 to be exact but those whole sharks have been in Oslob as far as I can remember. During my childhood days in early 1970s, I already knew about the whale sharks in Oslob that we, locals call, tuki.
Thanks for all that info! 😊
Truly amazing! ❤❤❤

Finally! Oslob whale sharks for the books ✅. What an upclose experience! Are you guys coming back in Fall for deep sea diving? I'm always excited for your guys adventure in Philippine Islands. Check out Anilao, Batangas for some good marine life snorkeling or diving ☺️
We are coming back in September but we don’t have it all planned out yet.
The area you snorkled inSumilon used to have really thriving corals and tons of fish bout 10 or more years ago. Looks like coral vleacging
I think we weren’t in the right part of the island either. We’ll know better next time.

CEBU is the country’s #1 most visited tourist destination, and for good reason. It is unrivaled in offering the widest range of things to do and attractions.
From the bustling cityscape to the serene countryside, Cebu offers a diverse array of experiences that will leave you enchanted. Cebu ❤

We’re Watching closely! Thanks for keeping up with it with us 🤗
Just hit 1M views in just 9 1/2 months, Congrats!
Right from Oslob, there’s actually a ferry you can hop onto to get to Panglao and then cross over to Balicasag Island. It’s the best place to go to swim with huge sea turtles. There are a lot of them there and the marine ecosystem is amazing and corals are so beautiful! Best time to go each year would be between around July-October so the waves aren’t rough yet on the area where the best corals are. I have the best photos of the corals and swimming with turtles there. I actually go once every month just to unwind there.
Awesome! We actually went to Balicasag and did an episode there. If you notice I always wear a pearl bracelet, I got it there! ua-cam.com/video/NFgiuRVkg_o/v-deo.html&feature=sharec

Thanks!
I went there last 2019. We didn't manage to dive but we meet face to face with Whale Shark and that's definitely the best experience
It’s amazing how majestic quality time with the whale sharks is
You didn't visit the Tumalog falls guys? Its near the whale shark place
watching from Hong Kong ❤❤❤
Hello in Hong Kong 👋
Hi there! The difference between the two spots where you can find the whale sharks is that in Donsol, they are much bigger ( think tourist buses or coaches) and of course you would have to chase them fast!
However , the ones in Oslob are juvenile.
Sure wish we had been lucky enough to encounter some in Donsol, especially if they had been bigger. Probably not the last opportunity we'll have to swim with them, though 👍🏼
Lockwood family its nice you enjoyed. You have to promise that you'll consider spending Christmas here. Its a guarantee that you'll love it especially in the provinces
We’ll be back in September! Looking forward to all the Xmas decorations 😊
@@AlwaysBeChanging September is just Christmas season starting. Hope you really get an idea what Christmas is like here in the Philippines. Its not just about the Christmas lights but the Christmas atmosphere especially the feeling of being welcomed into people's lives thats life changing
What they usually feed the whale sharks at Oslob are krill and sometimes dulong(fish or anchovy fries
You guys are very lucky... i havent travelled since 2017, too expensive for me, you guys are lucky to be good parents, and your kids are lucky
Thank you 🙏 we are grateful for the opportunity to travel.
Been even longer for me.
nice views ❤❤❤
The best!
24,777 views as of now.
Beautiful 😮
Thank you! 😊
Love it ❤️🇵🇭
Yay! That makes us happy 😃
I like your son he's very smart and brave❤
I've done both Donsol(3x)and Oslob (3x). In Donsol only had an encounter once and I barely seen it for a sec. It was a frantic scene of arms and legs trying to chase the whale. For Oslob it was always guaranteed. I think the encounter in Oslob improved a lot from my first encounter. It was more organized since the tourist boats are arranged on an arch and the whales are the only ones moving. To me this means less stress to the whales since the tourist are.not all over the place.
It was surprising how much quality time it felt like we had with the whales in Oslob
So nice to watch your videos, I get to see places in the Philippines I will not see 😊
Glad you like them! Thank you so much!! 🤗🤩🎉
In Donsol and lately San Juan, Southern Leyte you will have fleeting but exciting adventure of you ever get the chance upon the whale shark but in Oslob you will have a solid 30mins of swimming up-close with the whale sharks.
We didn’t want to get out of the water. It was really neat to be that close to them.
Awesome trip; did you arrange your Oslob trip through your resort? Any recommendations would be awesome? Thank you
Yes we did. Our resort took care of everything, our activities and our airport transfers.
Actually, there are other places around Cebu where whale sharks are sometimes and even frequented, such as off Punta Engano (on the northernmost tip of Mactan Island) peninsula. Other areas in Cebu where whale sharks are sometimes spotted are in Dalaguete, Moalboal (off Pescador Island), Badian, Alegria and Malapascua. Thresher sharks may show up daily in Monad Shoal (near Malapascua Island) but there are also other places around Cebu where thresher sharks are often (but not daily) spotted such as off Mactan Island (specifically in Hilutungan), Liloan (in Mactan Channel) and Oslob. Hammerhead sharks are also often spotted off Pescador Island (near Badian and Moalboal) and Olango Island (off Hilutungan Channel in Mactan Island). Reef sharks are quite common all over Cebu coastal waters but they're more common off Olango Island, Mactan Island, Sumilon Island and Oslob, Pescador Island, Santander, and most other towns in Cebu. Sea turtles are very common also in all of the 54 towns and cities of Cebu. Only in Cebu where these magnificent creatures can be found. No wonder why Cebu has the country's first (thus the oldest) dive spots in the country and has the largest number of dive sites.
Thanks for all that info!
I'd love to go back!
We hope you do 🫶
Sea life is a dream life. So beautiful! ❤
Thank you 🤩🤗
You love your Philippine mangos!!!!!!!!
Sure do!!
