    WARNING : This video is awesome. You are so informative. When using resin, I try to remember that it's extremely toxic. The warnings on the packaging are actual warnings and not "cover our backside" warnings. Resin will eventually causes respiratory and skin issues so they recommend people wear gloves and a mask to protect their health. If nothing else, they can wear gloves and ventilate their area well. Resin also takes 24 to 48 hours to fully cure, even though it's hard, and it's releasing toxic fumes that entire time. Until my project is fully cured, I keep mine in a ventilated room with the door closed. People have developed serious respiratory and/or skin issues in less than a year of using resin regularly. A great post by a resin manufacturer about resin toxicity is: Unveiling the Truth: Is Resin Really Toxic and Who is Most at Risk. Resin is awesome as long as people use it safely.

    • @angiegarciaart
      @angiegarciaart  Місяць тому +4

      Hello and thank you!! Yes. I’m very aware of the toxicity of resin. I have used many different mediums and I’m always on top of what is safe or not. I have a ventilated system for things like resin and usually do most things outside in the summer. Whenever I am using something has a warning I do try and WARN people to ALWAYS air on the side of caution as in anything they use for the first time. That goes for spray paint, glues, rusting mental, electroforming , encaustics, sanding to resin… the “art resin” is a brand to be safer, but I still ventilate accordingly.. I may have not stated that well enough in this video, but I am one artist, that will always mention safety and ventilation… I don’t want “newbies” to be scared to try something!! But to always practice safety first… I do appreciate your reminder tho… have a wonderful day!! 🤓

    Angie , you are such a fabulous artist ! I have been using UV resin on paper for a year now primarily photos !!
    You have DONE A FANTASTIC JOB !!
    You have been cautious yet encouraging people who don’t have “courage” to attempt something to go got it ! Worst case re print ! If using family photos ( me) I have many from late 1800 to present family - scan images and print !!
    Thank you for showing winding the wire ! I don’t have any more earrings I have been using vintage optical lenses and they are amazing ! Also metal trays rusted ! I live 1 mile from the ocean so rust is always happening in my life !!
    You are amazing !
    The paper clips are fabulous!! I’ve already shared your video to my friend who is going to adore you ! Well done friend . Stay cool and continue with your exciting passion
    Oh the tin types ! I’ll tag you on mine ! I did them for a journal DT project for Raindrop Lila after seeing Tracy now collecting cans going to need a storage unit for my “junk “ lol ! Love your enthusiasm and passion for the art !

      Wow what a wonderful comment to read. You truly made my day even better so thank you! I try really hard to always state the facts when trying some thing new to be safe, but never scared. I also try to find others ways that are simpler for the ones that just don’t feel comfortable or want to invest. Things always have a work around.. I love experimenting and trying to figure out how to put things together as a kid. My favorite show was MacGyver so it’s awesome when I can get all MacGyver-ish! lol!! I love helping inspire others who appreciate what I have to offer. I’m not the best at speaking, but that will always be a “practice make better” . I’m goofy and I live to laugh, especially at myself…
      Wow!! I love old photos and yes.. scan those babies. I live in the mountains of MT where we have 4 old cabins from the 1800’s to early 19’00’s I live in a very historic area lots of old mining claims etc. hai it’s always fun scavenging for old stuff.
      Yes! Please share as I would absolutely love to see all that you are making! And thank you for sharing my UA-cam along. It means the world to me!!! Can’t wait to see how you use your makes!! Yay!

    This is a cute idea. From making jewelry I have learned that you can press your earring finding down onto a piece of packing tape. Rub around the edge of the wire to be sure it's a good seal, and then your resin won't leave out. After the resin has cured, you just pull the tape off.

    How cute! I just found your channel a few days ago, and I've been binge watching ever since! I love your work! How, may I ask, do you rust your own wire? I've been crafting for ages, so I feel like I should already know how to do this; maybe I forgot!? Do you have a video on how to do it?

    • @angiegarciaart
      @angiegarciaart  Місяць тому +4

      Hello and thank you so much for your kind comment… I appreciate it!! And thank you for supporting my channel means the world!
      I use a mixture of
      hydrogen peroxide
      Iodized salt
      And white vinegar
      Deep glass jar or thick plastic
      A ventilated area
      Sorry I don’t have an exact measurement .
      I fill the jar with about a 1/4 of the way with vinegar and then I pour in hydrogen peroxide or just enough to cover what I’m going to rust.
      Then I add a couple tablespoons of salt.
      I throw the whole paddle of wire in the jar.
      It will get hot and foam up also will give off a gas. So that’s why ( in the summer I rust outside) ventilate if you’re going to do inside. Remember if you fill to full it could foam over. DO NOT ADD A LID!!
      I leave in until I get the desired rust on the wire… I check after a couple days.. you can let it dry naturally or do a quick rinse. Pat dry.
      Do not poor off excess in the sink if you have metal pipes. Dispose of it properly.. I just let mine evaporate
      Over time my wire gets rustier. Being in the open air…
      Hope this helps or gives you a little insight to go ahead and try it on your own. 🤓

    Great idea! Too much chattering about irrelevant stuff. Just get to the point.

      thank You!
      Sorry you feel that way, as I would have NEVER uploaded a video if 99% of the video was irrelevant, non informative or I completely chit chatted to much! ...
      recording videos is an "art" and I will always be working on it. I do these videos out of the kindness of my heart to help inspire "others"!! At the end of the day, not everyone nor l are going to be able to please everyone's satisfaction when it comes to a video...so I'm truly sorry you felt I was not to the point fast enough for your liking. ( but there is a speed up option or even a fast forward button). Or head over to my IG where I have this video completely speed up in under 2min. As I may not be the channel for you, I do appreciate you stopping by!
      Have a wonderful, creative day 😁
