Happy birthday, Nick! Humpies and French Polynesia... could it get any better? Youre both looking so rested and well, it must have been a good last few weeks.😊 Much love!
Another video from the Okellys, again first to comment. Looks like my notification is working well. love the seamless transitions. Edit: The what the Emergency Kit - Highlight apart from whales HAPPY B-DAY NICK
Recently came across your channel, love it! Going to sail the Whitsundays here in Australia next year. Big love all the way from the Central Australian bush. 🤠
You both look great with the time off behind you. For you adventurists, I commend you on your where for all. You are made for the water and exploration. Beautiful choice to enjoy your birthday in F Polynesia. Wonderful to see you out smiling and enjoying life again. Love that you’re from Portland. We lived on the westside for many years. Beautiful there, know it well. Quite different from the exotic treasures you so obviously enjoy. Coming from the northwest (predominantly Seattle) where sailing can easily be one’s second life, I wonder if the come again, off again stress, in seeking the perfect sailing vessel, really worth it? For you, I believe so. For us, we gave it up to be near family, enjoying the snow, sun, rivers and mountains, and the activities they provide here on land. Sailing and boating remains a part of our lives, but in a different way. It’s an activity rather than a lifestyle. For yourselves, you fit in well with the lifestyle, you enjoy it as your staple full-time life. Wishing you the best in your search and hoping it leads to the ultimate and perfect decision. I’m excited to see how you come out on the other side. 😊 Wish you nothing better than fair sailing, sunshine, and grand adventures. Now go buy that dream boat and have some fun!
Thanks for the note. Completely understand the activity vs. lifestyle equation. At some point we will do exactly what you are doing. Among the experienced cruisers we know, taking a while, being patient, and looking for just the right fit is not unusual. We know several couples that took 3-4-5 years to find their next boat. I think that once you know what you are getting yourself into, you're more discerning. Sharing the drama publicly on UA-cam is pretty weird. But.... it's real life, and maybe it helps others ....if only to say..."we're not going to do it like that!" Regardless, we're on the edge of our seats, and that's the mark of a true adventure. This has been one! Cheers!
Happy birthday, Nick from one who's leaving the 50s in a week or two. It is all about enjoying the simple things from here out. Hope the Polynesian Air and people made it awesome. Have you considered building your own vessel?
I think in the years you've spent looking for a boat, you have spent more traveling to look than if you would've simply built a new one. I don't think you'll ever find a boat that's perfect to your liking, so you might as well bite the bullet and build your own. At 51 you are smack dab in the sweet spot of life, this is not the time to sit back, This is the time to grab life by the horns. I say that as a 73 year old, who's starting to see my ow mortality, and realize I could have done so many things and thinking I will get around to it some time, but it's all slipping away and i am beginning to nest, although my wife (15 years younger) is encouraging me to keep going.
Couldn't agree with you more. Time is the one currency that really matters. We'd rather be sailing than building, but tremendous respect to anyone who builds a boat. We know there is a lot of pressure added to the situation because of the YouToobing, but think that if we zoom out a bit...looking at the big picture...we've made good decisions. We entered the market at a really bad time to buy: tight market, low inventory, high prices, etc. That situation is correcting in a big way now. I don't think it will be long before we are on our own boat, and we appreciate you sticking with us. Cheers!
@@marcellacruser951 That makes me feel good - I'm not a cruiser, lol! That said, the ocean is a hidden, mysterious draw for most and when you in it, you don't notice, but when you leave it, there is a hole that needs to be filled.
Could take a lot of will power to not buy a decent cruiser thats ALREADY in Society Islands! Perhaps the dream would be to find somebody who would lease it out for a year. That would be a new special content take on UA-cam crusing. 😃
Philomath?!? A boat from Philomath? Did they sail it down Mary’s River, to the Willamette, to the Columbia, and across the Pacific? AND without a MAST! Oh, never mind. Captain’s prerogative, the vestiges of time, and random acts of kindness…or teleportation?
You four are NUTS!!! Love the episode. Happy Birthday Nick!
Lol, thanks!

Thanks! Happy birthday to you too! We have considered it, but I don't think we have it in us. Tremendous respect to anyone who builds a boat!

Couple of the luckiest ducks you'll ever meet! Cheers!

They've made it clear there's more to life than cruising, and they've actually been living it.

Like Indiana Jones and the lost boat. Adventure around the world. 😊
Hopefully not the Last Crusade! LOL
Don't want to spoil anything, but in my experience 50 was the peak. Downhill from there, so enjoy while you can enjoy it.
LOL, yeh the boards start creaking! But, better than the alternative!

Keep going !!! boat market is starting a correction?
Been correcting for a while.

LOL. Yeh, what the heck?!?!?!
Okay, how do we get info on how to put together a kit like he had with every tool in it? Wow!
Reach out to @sv_sabado. They are busy getting ready to leave FP, but always game to help
Hahaha, guess we need to film an emergency kit vid🤔 we’ll start rounding up links to the supplies!
Still following, buy a boat w/bean bags!
You know it!
Sailing a performance boat may be more fun. But is it better to be sailing a non performance boat than not sailing at all? Life is so fragile.
