Therapist here. Depression is a very real condition impacting your brain. The way you described it lets me know you haven't had clinical depression. Everyone can experience sadness and low mood but that's not clinical depression. I worked in inpatient psychiatry and sadly saw kids as young as 6-7 years old attempt to unalive themsleves. I know this vid isn't about this issue but I felt the need to comment because you never know what others are going through. Depression is a real, pervasive, debilitating disorder. You're lucky to have not experienced severe depression in your life. It has nothing to do with being weak. Doubt anyone would say that to a 6 or 7 year old. Those kids just grow up to be adults (if they make it).

Hi Matt. Really like your stuff but depression is real. I am grad student that goes to counseling and takes medication for chemical imbalances in my brain. I sometimes have had thoughts of hurting myself despite this. I do not let it get in my way and I still make all As in school. But doing this is tough however. There are days that I sit in bed for hours after I have woken up with no motivation to move, I have no appetite and little to know energy. Do I still get done with whatever I need to get done, yes. But depression still takes it’s tole on my life and body. I appreciate you and I really like your videos but don’t dismiss sometimes that affects a large percent of the population. I do the things that you said, I keep busy and I exercise but I still have to fight a difficult battle. Be more empathetic because just because you are blessed to never have it effect that doesn’t mean that others feel the same. Keep up the amazing work but try to consider the things I have said.

Thank you MattBeGreat.i have been going through a depression on and off for about 5 years. I had a stroke and then my hip went out at the same time. It was depressing not being able to walk and i fell into depression, and all of this happened during covid. I had to wait 3 years before I could get a hip replacement. I was in such pain before the surgery and by the time I did get it, my legs had gotten so weak, i loss muscle mass and the depression got worse. Hearing you talk about the older generation and depression. It made me think about my dad and the hard times i remember hearing he went through until he became successful in life. He didn't have time to get dressed. My dad was a hard working man and like you said he was always working and didn't have time to get depressed. Thank you for reminding me that i just have to stay busy with my life and i want have time to get depressed. I can work on my mobility more and walk again. I don’t have depression thankfully but you can’t just say it’s not real it exists. Just like you can’t say a broken leg isn’t real. Could you play thru broken legs? Also you comments on depression is a little hurtful coming from someone who had depression. It is true if you keep yourself busy you won’t have time to think about the depression. But sometime those thought of being not good enough or just thinking negative thoughts in general still creep in the head. So again just my experience depression is real.

Thank you MattBeGreat.i have been going through a depression on and off for about 5 years. I had a stroke and then my hip went out at the same time. It was depressing not being able to walk and i fell into depression, and all of this happened during covid. I had to wait 3 years before I could get a hip replacement. I was in such pain before the surgery and by the time I did get it, my legs had gotten so weak, i loss muscle mass and the depression got worse. Hearing you talk about the older generation and depression. It made me think about my dad and the hard times i remember hearing he went through until he became successful in life. He didn't have time to get dressed. My dad was a hard working man and like you said he was always working and didn't have time to get depressed. Thank you for reminding me that i just have to stay busy with my life and i want have time to get depressed. I can work on my mobility more and walk again. Again thanks for the push to make myself just do it. I really enjoy your videos and I can't wait until the next one comes out. You are doing a great job. God bless you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

My dad was similar at 31:52 or around there after he got shot in the leg at central state he transferred to thomas Moore he played well for both but didn’t do enough for the leauge and it made him so disappointed in himself that people his age were playing in the leauge the same age as him so he didn’t watch football from like 1998-2003 till he realized its fine
