Great video. I thought I knew Ryde very well but there were so many things you talked about that I didn't know - the Jack the Ripper suspect buried in Ryde cemetery for instance. Not a ghost as such but I used to get a creepy feeling in an old house in Bellevue Rd Ryde so I'm not surprised the town has so many ghosts. Please keep doing IoW videos, I think I'm addicted!
My mum used to be a cleaner at the Prince Consort back in the 60s. I have very happy memories of going with her in the mornings. We never saw anything though
I camped on the beach here with a group of mates in my teens and I’m not even joking I was facing the ocean sat on a rock while my mates were singing and listening to music, I’m staring at the ocean down the coast line just a few yards away towards the Quarr abbey and all I seen was what looked like monks in a see through like all black rob Walking away in a line all stood next to each other. The most amazing experience of my life and I’m wayyy too scared to go back 😆 I’ll never ever forget it. Never seen anything like it since. I was like 16 at the time, 32 now and I can picture it like yesterday! Also never camped anywhere since lol. Great video wish I had the balls to go film at night where we camped!
Ashey Road is supposed to be hella haunted ... I remember my aunt telling me a story of their friend who had to move out of their house at the bottom for the road and rent a place whilst it was on the market. Apparently they kept waking up with a spirit hovering over the bed ... which evidently freaked them out a bit 😳
There's no need to leave our Island Marek, so much here. For example, the Partlands had a tunnel all the way down to lower Ryde, lots to study there. Lots of other Island authors, including MJ Trow who wrote 'The Many Faces of Jack the Ripper'. Thousands of graveyard histories. The disappearance of fascinating old buildings. Thanks for all you do!
Believe it, or not, but I used to drink in the Partlands Hotel (in the late 80s). I wasn't a regular, but my mate, Tony was. He was as mad as a banana.
Nice one! We once had a ghost cat named Pinky. Shortly after she died, she would wake my wife Tina by walking cross the bed. Then we both felt her treading on the bed just before dawn. She liked to play with water, so we put out her old water bowl.. and suddenly she stopped waking us up. 👻
Here's to a good year for you, Cool DudeWhen we got the bus to and from school, we were always scared of the man at the back of the bus! Withnail and I shout out was great, a classic film that I imagine all your followers have on replay! CD#123
Ryde cemetary has the tomestones shot by a dog fight. Mei Trow a local historian and my old teacher wrote a good book on who he thought was Jack the Ripper
Personally Marek, I would NEVER leave the IOW.Ever. There are so many nooks & crannies & special spots. I have to get dragged away clinging to the Ferry railings every time we come over. So I'm quite happy to watch you doing ghostly things or ghastly things or great things over there as many times as you like.By the way, Malevolent is a unpronounceable word. My gran couldn't say Bartholomew. Ever. If you are ever in Rochester again with your m8 Carlos get him to take you to Baggins Bookshop...the largest secondhand bookshop in England. You will be in there all day! The IOW one looks good too!Love a ghost story 👻Great fun drawings as always. x J x
@@cdwc I was in Rochester on 10th February just to visit Baggins Bookshop. The bookshop in Ryde seems very similar, judging from the video. If you ever are in Kent and have some time to spare, Baggins is well worth a nose around. You can lose yourself for hours in there.
My Mum lives at the London a sheltered housing complex built on the site of the London Hotel in Well Street, Ryde and all the residents are convinced the place is haunted. My mum was talking to one of her neighbours who says that a ghost keeps emptying their coffee jar and eating biscuits! I love the Isle of Wight Ghost Books I have all of them.
Hey Marek 👋 Nice one 👍 👌 When you were walking through the Cemetery I was telling the missus that it is the dead centre of Ryde. Is it? She said. 😄👊👊 You can have that one. Write it down. 😄 Take care mate .🙂👊😎👍
Good walk! To be honest, I came up with most of my stupid ideas as an adult. But my folks were/are Born Again Christians and as a young kid I had an ambition to Save The World for a while. That was stupid, if well meaning. On my part anyway. But later on I sold my soul to The Grey Lady. I'm not sure which one, so it will be difficult to get it back.
I always thought Jack the Ripper was most likely a group of people, either working together, or as copy cats, however if I had to pick just one suspect it was the painter, Walter Sickert. Or at the very least he was working with the ripper. I remember reading a report where they said he showed up to do a drawing of the crime scene and his painting was almost complete. Also the drawing showed items that the police had removed before he had been allowed in.
@Cool Dudes Walking Club your welcome. Il keep my eye on the price hikes. I think tesco should send you a free box full of strawberry laces.....every week
Wow, some pretty spooky stuff Cool Dude. Incredible to think ghosts are such loud walkers. I really hope the cover photo of Jack Lavers' book is Mr. Lavers' himself. What's scarier than that?? Anyway, the Ryde bookshop looks cool. It looks to be a hoarders dream but an OCD sufferers nightmare. Good to see your collection of Gay Baldwin books is going strong. If you ever want to do any Kentish ghost walks you're welcome to stay with me. We won't ask you for any money either just your soul! Muhahahahah!
Nice video Cool Dude. Maybe you could do a night time ghost walk for additional 'foxtrot' risk? I reckon it must have been something stronger than just 'talking' to have seen the phantom ship, maybe LSD? Could your next emoji be a ghost?
I loved the Mini mini Marek pic by that windmill. So cute! I haven't really got an opinion on Jack the ripper. It's one of those true crime cases that bores me a bit. Good luck with your future walks and I hope you do get to travel around a bit.
Thank you Liz. I am so glad you like my art work too. I have sold most of the paintings, but I am keeping a sketchbook, and also using some scans of the pictures for zines. I am no way good enough for an exhibition. If Quay Arts did a zine fair I would definitely attend though. Stay cool
What about going to Edinburgh for a walkabout and asking for lifts from your subscribers up and down the country. I’m sure they’d be more than happy to get you there. Doesn’t have to be as far as that, just another interesting city to visit? You could then make short videos interviewing them?
Like alot of people in recent times my favorite person of interest in the ripper crimes was Charles Lechmere (Cross), but then I thought, wait a minute what if he was just a guy on his way to work? I mean just because he discovered the first victim..
Good ghost facts in this one Marek - cats, tingling, coins, rattles, wet patches, ships, dancers, footsteps, limping Jane. That's the full quota isn't it?
I wonder if like me these people that hear random ghost footsteps just have pets or husbands or children that they haven’t been keeping an eye on. It’s often that I jump to conclusions there are ghosts or Burglars in our house… only to realise later it’s a dog stomping around or an annoying husband that ate my last open strawberry lace packet not a ghost/burglar. I have not gone as far as writing a book about these ghostly occurrences as I’ve been able to investigate each to a logical conclusion. But soon there will be an unexplained phenomenon I’m sure.

The book shop is brilliant. I asked the owner how he keeps track of the books, and he says that he sort of knows where everything is, unless people take the books out and put them in the wrong place. There's probably about 20,000+ books there.

Nice one 👍 👌
When you were walking through the Cemetery I was telling the missus that it is the dead centre of Ryde. Is it? She said. 😄👊👊

Thanks Jacqueline, that is really kind of you. I am so glad you like the videos.
Visited Michael Maybricks tomb yesterday then watched a documentary about him, sounds plausible 🤔
There are so many theories it is a real rabbit hole.
Absolutely love love love the book shop!!!!!! Another great video. Thank you!
You could spend all day there. It is wonderful.
Whoe ! Just hold on a minute ! Where was the "Grey Lady"? You can't have a Ghost Walk without one ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 Great video again Marek. 😃👍
Actually there was a grey lady listed in Ryde but it wasn't interesting enough to make the cut.
Love your videos on the island! always hope to see you about on our merry strolls
Yes hopefully one day cool dude. There are so many places to explore.
I noted the use of the Interstellar-esque music in amongst all of those bookshelves... ;-)
Christopher Nolan travelled in time, saw my video and then went back and made Interstellar.
Another chilling walk. The IOW must be the most haunted place in the British Isles
I think it is. There are over one million grey ladies here, and only 10% of them are alive.
Just to say that I have received my keyring and spotters handbook. All I need now is nice weather, a bag of Bobby Dicks and I am away. Thanks Marek.👍
Excellent. Good luck with those Bobby Dicks.

There are about 500 Grey Ladies in Ryde alone. I wish you luck cool dude.

As someone who's close to sleeping on the stairs due to storing all the books I own here, there and everywhere, that bookshop looks pretty great!
The man who owns it says that he makes most of his money from online orders. He was working non stop.
Um so I was watching some Netflix and all of the sudden I see YOU and my brain melted out of my ears! Congrats man!!
The Pentaverate?
Yup! I was flabbergasted because I only know you from this channel. 😂
Love that bookshop!
It is an amazing place. I worry that it will collapse under the weight of all the books.
Enjoyed that ghostly walk about Cool Dude.
Hope things pick up for you asap ;)
Nice one cool dude.
My theory is that the Jack the ripper case wouldn't be as interesting if the letters were signed Kevin the ripper, or Steve, or... Neil.
I knew it was you.

Definitely worth a visit. I wish there was somewhere to sit though so you can relax and look through a few books.

Just love all your fascinating facts and must check out that cool book shop one day. Great painting and keyrings! Thanks for sharing. :)
The book shop is definitely worth an hour of your time.
Spooky stuff Cool Dude. I will be visiting the island in June so may see or hear a ghost or 2 around island
June is the month all the ghosts go on holiday.
Another fab video, but the eBay link is for a picture auction that has already ended...
I put the last one on there by accident. It is updated now, Thanks for spotting it cool dude.
Nice one cool dude! Jack The Ripper for me was a guy called Aaron Kosminski
Ah yes, I have heard of him.
Wow, your ghost walks are always so fascinating and spooky! And that bookshop looks like a dream come true for book lovers. 🎉👻📚
Thanks cool dude. It is a magnificent shop.
Love the the ripper link. Very interesting theory sir. Great stuff as always. X
It is Bruce Robinson's theory. I might do a Jack the Ripper walk at some point.
