@@gadgetgus the abundance of useful tools from the small Phillips to the orange peeler which makes a great clam shell package opener and on and on overall just a mighty little package of tools.
Love my alox Farmer & Farmer X. I also like the fact that they are based on the old Soldier model which was issued to generations of Swiss military conscripts, for the best part of half a century, as well as to other armies for a time including the Dutch. If there was a Rambler in alox I'd buy it but since there isn't, the Minichamp Alox is next on my list. Just bought a Swisschamp in black which I love, but I want a more minimal yet very functional good quality option for a lighter (summer) carry, together with Knipex Cobra XS and Spyderco Urban, and the Minichamp Alox is ideal for that role I think.

These Alox scales always leave me in a bit of a quandry. They are beautiful and light weight but at the same time I would miss the tweezers as they are incredibly handy.
I hear you Graeme, you have given me an idea...
I would also welcome that, so maybe I could develop a 'hybrid' model - slightly thicker scales on the Alox, literally by 1mm each, so we could get the stronger Tweezers in on one side and a firesteel/toothpick/pen on the other.
The scales on both models are 3mm, however the 'dimpling' effect on the Alox, loses 0.5mm, yet actually also adds strength 💪 and rigidity so would only require an extra 1mm to make it work...
I know I could do this, as I have some basic engineering skills - a future project perhaps! 😉

Those really are the best scissors in the world. I carried the same one for about 15 years with the scissors being my most often used tool. They cut through even relatively thick zip ties and have never had to be resharpened or the spring replaced (although I do keep a replacement spring just in case I will ever need it).

This would encompass the features of the Wenger scissors and the benefits of the Victorinox styled ones, so you have the best of both...
It all comes down to cost, I'm guessing, so that's why they probably stopped making the Wenger ones, as they became too much to produce...

Great presentation video. I bought this three weeks ago in Vienna, because I needed it because of a broken nail. I've had a hunter version for 25 years, but I'don't regret buying this little knife because it's very useful and extremely light.

Great little knife Gus, I have one of these in my collection. I'd like to start collecting the different color variations of the alox. Can't go wrong with the Classic series. You never know how useful these small knives/multitool are until you don't have yours with you 😂 great video 👍

Just picked up my alox and a couple more different coloured scales, have 17 SD CLASSIC in my collection.
Gus i carry jelly red in half ounce baccy tin as its very hazardous collecting blackthorn to make shillaglahs thorns are poisonous too so that tiny knife is perfect tool 👍🦊🐾

The SD tiny blade is scary sharp. "What was the last thing you cut using your SD?" "Cutting my index finger when opening a bag of peanuts" ;) So small it fits inside of the wallet without even being noticed. Brilliant

Great review Gus. I have had one of these little beauties for a while but have only recently put it on my keychain, what took me so long? It's perfect. Gives you many options. I pair it on my keys with a little Kershaw Recap tool (bottle opener, large flathead, mini pry bar) and they make a great combo.

Yes, I like the Minichamp, which I bought originally in 2016, as it appealed to my inner 12-year-old 😊
I used it for a while, but then gave it to my son, as I found that I often only use half the tools.
The Classic SD is a great keychain that covers the essentials.
However, I opted for the Rambler, which, for me, is the sweet spot between both and shall custom it with Alox scales, as I prefer them.

Same size, has a bottle opener + magnetic screwdriver 🪛
If you prefer the Alox scales, then check out the 'Minichamp' or do what I did and custom a Rambler in Alox scales 😉

The Farmer X is particularly useful for people who live in the home counties, in between the urban environment and the countryside.
I often rotate the Pioneer X for the city or town, as I don't require a saw in that environment, but have the Farmer with the saw in my vehicle, which I switch out for when I'm in the country, outdoors or as a backup blade/saw when doing Bushcraft 🌳🪵🔥

Yeah great tool, on my key ring, I’ve got this in the blue , and I’ve got an alox mini champ . Victorinox have it all 🧵 sewn up. Do vic use different grade steel on the alox models? Different from the standard red scale models
Hi Marc, yes... apparently so, when I researched it (A year ago - on a blade forum, unless they got it wrong), which I then 'cross-referenced' - though it makes sense to keep it the same on the classic model, so that is the only one which may be the same. However, generally speaking the, Alox blade steels are X55CroMoV14/V15 - Cellidor version is X55CroMo14, which means the Vanadium is taken away on the standard models, unless the 'V' was a typing error... The spaces and general tools are slightly different composition again...
It makes sense that Victorinox want to keep this 'recipe' - secret for obvious reasons, yet this is what was stated at the time.
