Love seeing you do RingFit adventure!! Totally random part of the vlog but I loved using that game as a break and can't wait to get back to it. Also congrats on 35k! And 360 on patreon, almost a person for every day of the year
Omg I hadn't even realized! That's such a cool way to think about it!! And yessss! I just started using the RingFit and I'm loving it! It's so fun, plus I don't have to wake up impossibly early to beat the Texas heat and no worrying about wearing a mask to the gym. And it's so fun!
Thanks Katharina!!! I'm hoping that when I'm ready to share, I'll have all sorts of info and stats and other fun things! (Plus I'm vlogging along the way, so it'll just be after-the-fact vlogs hahaha.)
I personally love the sound of keys. Why I love that you don't cover up the sound with music like most vloggers do. :) Congrats on the 35k subscribers!
Hi Kate! I have been loving all your videos lately, and congrats on hitting 35K!!!!! I've been following you for probably a year, so it's so lovely to see all your progress on writing and on your channel! You really motivate me to work on my own WIP (your live writing sprints are great, even when I tune in after) and I'm really excited to see you publish something one day :)
thanks for answering my question Kate! and 1,000,000 in a year honestly sounds like a great goal - I might have to try that myself! good luck if you do decide to go for it :)
Hi Kate! If you are seeing this I just want to let you know I really enjoyed how you vlogged a little bit more in this video, I liked how you took us with you throughout your day while still writing/talking about writing. Happy 35k :) !!!
I decided to make an impossible list lately and it’s helped me keep track of future goals a lot, it might actually work better for me than a bucket list so I’m excited to try it out! I saw it on Unjaded Jades video and she explained it really well, so I’m still looking forward to travelling! I loved your video and I like seeing these vlogs so much! Seeing a more detailed process, especially 5 year plan stuff, is really great :) thank you for your videos
I love how dedicated you are to your writing and I can relate on so many levels. I’ve been writing since I was a teenager (I’m 38), I have a YA sci-fi I’ve written in full three different ways (and partial about a hundred different ways) and I’ve just gotten to to the point where I’m writing other genres like contemporary adult fiction, some psychological thriller (which is my new favorite genre)…etc…I’m commenting to basically say thank you…I’ve written 6 full manuscripts over the past decade and though I can’t do it full time (I have an Etsy shop which is luckily/wonderfully my full time job) I still dedicate a lot of time to my writing but I’ve never had anything published, and it has been making me feel less confident…watching your videos and seeing your dedication and passion for writing and all the goals you have for your future has made me feel like I can stop beating myself up for not publishing yet…I can still trust the process and just take it one draft at a time. I love your channel! I stumbled upon it about a month ago and now I watch it while I make jewelry all day and it inspires me to make more time for writing when I can…so thank you!
I couldn’t help starring at your nails so now I’m painting mine lol 💅🏻 My goal for this year is finishing my first draft of my first novel! If I can do it, it’ll be the first novel/story I’ve completed ever!
Just wanted to say congratulations Kate on 35,000 🎉🎉🎉🎉 You're channel is so awesome so I fully expect that number to grow even more soon. Love your videos and so glad I found your channel. Take care Kate ❤❤
Big congratulations on 35k Kate - that's huge! ✨Personally I love the keyboard clicks. I've saved all of the clickity-clackety write-ins into a playlist. There's just something about hearing someone else typing that keeps me on task and not zoning out 😅
Woohoo! Congrats on 35k! 🎉🥂 With at least a handful of genres I like to write in, it's so great to see someone else with the similar goals. Good luck with your hopeful 🤞 publishing successes! I look forward to finding out what you accomplish this year and next and all the years to come!
You explaining your publishing goals for romance was SO helpful! I've been back and forth on the indie vs traditional for my romance projects too. The fact you're considering self-publishing really puts it into perspective for me. Wishing you all the luck in accomplishing your goals! Oh, and thanks for answering my question!
"because that's a five book series and that's a big commitment" cue me hiding my twelve book series that i've just started working on causing me to neglect my other projects a bit
Yeey! 35 K!!! :D My plan for next year is 1001 words a day. ( 365.365 : 356 days = 1001 ) And I'll track it like a year round nanowrimo kind of thing. That's the plan... Also I want to log more of what, when and how much I'm doing for each project. *Decides to start tracking today!* Thanks for making these video's. It always inspires and motivates me!
I'm in that category of not loving traveling, haha. It totally stresses me out, except for that one trip a year to the beach :) Literally me. I'm super content to travel through books and UA-cam.
The only crazy year goal I have is to finish my first draft....I'm going at around 1000 words per day for the last little bit. If I continue that way, I'll be able to do it! If I can figure out the middle lol. Here's hoping! And thanks for the vlog! It was lots of fun, as they always are 💜
Congratulations on the 35!!! You deserve much more, you are a great youtuber. I love the way we see you driving around, drinking delicious bevrages. Im a Boba Tea addict, so I my mouth water .You make writing look fun, and as a person who does not like to write, but have a novel I HAVE TO write, you and your writing sprints are a big inspiration!
YOU MAD WOMAN! Ever since I was little it's been a rule in our house that Christmas music is outlawed until December 1st. I've stuck with that rule even after moving into my own place. That may be just me talking because summer is my personal favourite season XD
I'm an airline-brat so I know how it is to be a non-military nomadic kid. I went to 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and thankfully 1 high school. Until this year, my husband never thought he'd live anywhere other than in or near NYC. When he said, "Hey, do you want to move to Alaska?" (he had a recruiter call about being a "Bush" teacher) I was shocked and said, "for a year or two to see how we like it." Now we're looking at the Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio tri-state area. I'm feeling a little better about that than Alaska, but I would have been able to get a lot of writing done in some of the Alaska towns. I'm always telling him I'm portable and I am. I love living in NY, but I also want to be able to afford to have another kid- and since I had twins with the first one and a few of those games that predict the future, say I'm going to have triplets- I really hope they are wrong twins are fine because I don't know anything else, but no 3 is too many at once. I'm not really a sweet potato person. I know I should be because of all the health benefits and the shorter cooking time but I just can't get myself to like them. Blue and purple potatoes are fun to experiment with, but give me a good old fashioned russet, red, new, Yukon gold in any cooked form- mashed, sauteed, roasted, boiled, etc and I'm good. Speaking of food, with a similar but unrelated topic- I've been wanting sangria since you had it in one of your videos. I haven't been able to get any. For August, I want to finish rewriting the chapters I have beta notes for and get the last 13 chapters and at least start on those. So in September, I can start doing some of the Save the Cat writes a novel exercises with it. I haven't read the first 20 chapters in almost 3 months so when I start I'll have a good break from the first part. I'm hoping to get the official 3rd draft done and sent to beta readers by November so I can draft the second book in the series for Nanowrimo. Also, I'm working on a short story collection tentatively called "The Funny Thing About Death," which is a collection of funny short stories about purgatory. One of the short stories is titled "Robert: The Clumbsy Angel." I'm hoping to be able to self-publish that between early December and Mid January.
Five book series is a huge commitment. *Hides my twelve novel series and buries the other, larger one...* You shouldn't have said anything about a million words...Now I want to take up that challenge!
@KateCavanaugh I just cracked how to write this high fantasy adventure quest novel set against revolution and usurper politics. It’s gonna be a trilogy and I’ve set a goal to finish the first draft by October first, so that’s my main season goal. Thanks for your videos they’re so inspirational!! Lots of ❤️
I'm considering going down the same route where I self-publish a series I'm working on and try to traditionally publish standalones and a YA trilogy I will work on in the future lol. Other than that, writing is going well, my goal is to finish the current draft I'm on by September so we'll see what happens!
Zelda is freaking adorable! How do you get any work done??? (Buffy is pretty adorable, too. But it looks like she's a better writing partner! Zelda is the real productivety obstacle, from what I've seen. I might be wrong, though.) My roommate has two shih tzus and the struggle is real! I'm lucky they nap a lot! Otherwise, I'd be playing with them all day long!
I am so sad that you accidentally deleted your reading vlog for The Fifth Season. I'm reading now, and I was looking forward to watching that vlog. :( Congrats on 35K! I am looking forward to everything that is up and coming for you in the next few years!
potatoes are amazing in all forms. In regards to the 1 year/1 million... did "I'll never do another 24-hour write-a-thon again" stop you from doing another 24-hour write-a-thon? I think we all know what's about to come in 2021~ (I really hope your dream of living abroad for 6 months, and home for 6 does come true! As someone who has lived abroad a few times, I really do encourage people to give it a go b/c the things you learn from it are invaluable)
I want to write half a book in August. 2,000 words a day Monday to Friday then idk maybe two novellas (too far of a goal?) I’m more into horror writing and potentially am starting off as single book self publish kind of thing. I don’t have writing buddies really and you’re videos keep me motivated to write even though I don’t personally have friends who write and see within suburbs of Minneapolis proximity. I did start a ya fantasy but I’m stuck and I think you’re right that I could give myself a break from that ya fantasy and put more focus in a horror book I want to write. So many options. I eventually want to do personal essays but have no clue where to send them for publishing etc
This month I'm starting to reread my story and with any luck, I'll make decent headway on the second draft. I go over my goals when I remember to look at them since the yearly goals are at the beginning of my planner. I should check them more often but I just forget to. Also, thank you for going over your process. As this is the first time I'm going through it with my own story, I've been a little lost in the process.
You're welcome! I'm making a list of your writing experiments and some of my own, 'cause I wanted to try them again while working on my latest novel :) By the way, you can call me Abe, if you want. It's easier to pronounce for most people :)
Congrats on 35k! These questions were so fun. I really feel you with the wanderlust - I have this crazy goal of moving to Japan next year which hinges on sitting a language proficiency test (will it even take place?), getting a job (will companies even want to hire foreigners next year?) & of course getting into the country... x.x but since nobody knows what will happen yet, I guess chances are 50/50. Hope we can all (safely) travel again very soon!
My big crazy goal is to release a podcast starting in september about french student changing carriers after stopping their studies ... I am so excited and scared at the same time xD I really hope to read your work in the future Kate
Hello! I recently discovered your channel and I'm obsessed (I'm probably subscriber number 35,000 .... jk). I am loving (and marathon) all the videos and your enthusiasm with writing it's just beautiful, now always before writing I see a video of yours to motivate me hehe (and it's a test for me because i'm brazilian and i'm still improving my english and you speak very fast sometimes hahaha). Anyway, i learned from you to rewrite the second draft instead of editing the zero draft and this has helped me a lot! thank you so much!!! 🥰
just finished writing the first draft of my last novel before I head to uni, so now I have to edit that while studying. Ask me in a decade regarding its progress...
Another great video. Thanks. My August goals are to fast draft the first book of a book series I've been slowly plotting for years in the hopes that I can get the draft/enough editing done on it to enter Pitch-wars at the end of September, wish me luck and good luck to you. If you don't mind my asking where did you get your rainbow keyboard?
I have tried a mil in a year a few times. Have not got there yet. Going to keep recording my word counts to see how close I get to each year. There have been months I have slacked off with recording now much I write.
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing so much of your journey with us! I’m at a turning point where I have the chance to take a break from working (like showing up for that 9-5) in order to focus entirely on writing. Not sure if I have the confidence and guts to go for it hkhdsuhfsukhsdjjhsdhsh
Lol I'm ready for summer to be over! My hayfever was particularly bad this year and my mental state has been all over the place :( I do always feel better in autumn though compared to summer. Plus my birthday is September so... I just find autumn far more magical as well and I always seem to feel far more creative. I'm hoping to explore writing as a possibility of something to do along with my other hobbies now that things are slowly going back to more normal. Also, is RingFit actually a good game? I kinda want to get it as it looks like the Switch version of Wii Sports Resort :)
That’s what I’m hoping for my novel my first novel of my cranberries book series it’s about a band called the cranberries from 1990s and I’m planning on publishing that in the early fall of 2021 woo hoo go you go girl you’re just like me we’re planning on publishing books And mine is currently a four for books series but it’s going to later turn into hopefully a nine book series for the cranberries book series
If I don't feel like writing in a project for multiple days, it's normally because something's wrong and I'm fighting with myself on going back and fixing it or pushing forward while knowing I'll have to do a huge rewrite. I also LOVE sweet potato fries! Best way to eat a potato! But I love normal mashed potatoes, too. Also, I'm still game for the 1 million words in a year. When are we starting?
I attempted camp nanowrino last month and I actually completed it but now I don't know what to do with life 😂😂 writing two books at once is really hard for me so I'm kinda just sitting here
My writing is not exisiting right now - having too much life crisis on top so writing gets pushed to the side XD right now i just want to do any writing in auguts XD
YES. She ate a few pieces of the first puzzle I did! It's a cute Tangled one, I've hung it up, and the 3 pieces she destroyed are missing but make a cute little memory bahaha.
I have a hard core need for that clicky clackity keyboard. I'm sorry, "Zelda had eaten it AGAIN"?!?!?!?! do you not feed this pupper? Sweet potatoes are not real potatoes. They are an imitation. They are inferior!!!! Yay for 35k! A well deserved crown for your queendom for sure =)
So excited for you!!! August 1st was the big day!!! Here’s to the next celebration (40K???). :D It took me years to hit the million word mark. Aim for 500K (less than 2000 words a day). It will be better for your mental health. :D And you have a personal life!!! Add the new 500K to what you’ve already written and you are well over the million word mark. :D My August goal is to finish the Vampire sequel and send it to the editor. Also, I need to complete the edits on Death of the Bat King. So I have plenty to do! :D You are doing great! Have fun camping. :D Cyber hugs!
my crazy goal this year is to graduate college on time despite my university treating both covid19 and providing enough course sections for everyone to get their requirements inlike a nonissue. And also to finish my screenplay and write one short story a month so I can apply for fully funded MFA programs. so, multiple crazy goals. i don't think i'm qualified to talk you down 😬
One Million. Words. In one year. Have you lost your ever loving marbles?!? Maybe I misjudge how many words you already write in a day but that's like 83k words a month. That's a Nano and a half every month! I'm not saying you can't do it, I'm saying SHOULD you? lol Now half a million...that's doable. :p I totally do that "I'm mad at you instead of me" thing with technology on video games. Sometimes I'll mess something up and not touch a game for months lol. Also, Congrats on your 35,000 subs! Yaaaay! You deserve it, we love these videos! **How's your writing going right now?? Meh. I'm not as excited about drafting on the series as I want to be and that scares me. I'm enjoying it, just less than I thought I would. Maybe covids just taking the edge off of fun things with stress or something. My editing is going okay, my planning on the graphic novel has just fizzled and I have a fourth project I'm opening back up in your honor. No, I'm kidding, I need to get it ready for Critique Partners. But I am juggling all the projects now. ** It's a new month, do you have new writing goals? I don't do monthly goals so part of my upcoming weekly goals will be to start doing monthly goals. lol I need to focus on some deadlines too, which might be yearly or more. All the goals! **Have you reevaluated your goals recently? I have, that's what led to the dumpster fire of a sentence above.
So how serious are you about wanting us to dissuade you from writing 1M words in a year? Because on the one hand, that sounds amazing; on the other hand, that sounds _aaaaaaaaaa_ .
Love seeing you do RingFit adventure!! Totally random part of the vlog but I loved using that game as a break and can't wait to get back to it.

Fingers crossed for your publishing adventures this year! I understand you wanting to keep it more of a "secret" although I would love to know more :)
Thanks Katharina!!! I'm hoping that when I'm ready to share, I'll have all sorts of info and stats and other fun things! (Plus I'm vlogging along the way, so it'll just be after-the-fact vlogs hahaha.)
"It seems like a bad idea, which makes we want to do it more." I relate to that so much it's not even funny! 😅
I'm 1000% sure that's the same thought/energy y'all brought to your 24-hour write-a-thon for November 1st bahaha. :)
@@KateCavanaugh I have no idea what you're talking about! 😂
I was about to comment the same thing!! LOL. Like, ope, thats me.
I personally love the sound of keys. Why I love that you don't cover up the sound with music like most vloggers do. :) Congrats on the 35k subscribers!

Congratulations!! Also - love that you had Tay Tay playing 🥰🥰
Congrats on 35K Kate! Well deserved and many more. I love hearing your thought process and planning as you go through projects👍

Bahaha I'm definitely going to start doing that now!
That live write-in was so much fun! Congrats on 35k Kate! Can't wait for Meridian Maps in 2021!

Oh my! I also moved every couple of years but we weren’t military! But the only people who could relate to me growing up were military kids
Congratulations! Here's to the next 35,000! 🍶
WOOOOO! Thanks Melanie! :)
Congrats on 35k! :3

Way to go dude! Been thinking about starting an authortube channel because of yours!
You mentioned me! That makes me so happy! Thanks, Kate!
Thank you so much for your question! :)
You're welcome! I'm making a list of your writing experiments and some of my own, 'cause I wanted to try them again while working on my latest novel :)
By the way, you can call me Abe, if you want. It's easier to pronounce for most people :)
Looking forward to 36,000 where you list every known preparation of potato.
Woo hoo! So in the mood for a new video from Kate 💕
Yayayayay! :)
Congrats on your well deserved milestone!!!
Ahhhh! I'm so glad!! Thank you for such a sweet comment. :) Happy (re)writing!
We are moving to texas in a few weeks and I'm already dreading that summer heat!! :) Thanks for these tips and answers... they were very interesting!
just finished writing the first draft of my last novel before I head to uni, so now I have to edit that while studying. Ask me in a decade regarding its progress...
Congrats on finishing your draft! 😃
Congrats on 35k!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooo!!!
WOOOOO!! Thanks Courtney!! :)
I said it during the live but I definitely think the 1 mil words challenged is a cool idea and I would definitely want to do it too!
I have tried a mil in a year a few times. Have not got there yet. Going to keep recording my word counts to see how close I get to each year. There have been months I have slacked off with recording now much I write.
My writing is going well. I PRINTED OUT MY FIRST DRAFT YAAY!!
WOOOOO! Congrats Kenan!!! That's awesome!
I support the one million in a year!! I will do it too haha
My after-draft rest period is KEY to my process
Congrats of 35k!
THANK YOU! :)
I attempted camp nanowrino last month and I actually completed it but now I don't know what to do with life 😂😂 writing two books at once is really hard for me so I'm kinda just sitting here
"It seems like a bad idea, but that kind of the reason I want to do it more."
Me, an INTJ: Excuse me, what the heck? What novel concept is this?
1 million in a year? Do it! So we can do it with you!
For August, I plan to write short stories and to send out my manuscript for its final beta reading stage ^^
My writing is not exisiting right now - having too much life crisis on top so writing gets pushed to the side XD right now i just want to do any writing in auguts XD
Where do you post your personal essays? Or are they private things you write for yourself?
“Or that Zelda had eaten [a puzzle piece] again.” Pardon?
YES. She ate a few pieces of the first puzzle I did! It's a cute Tangled one, I've hung it up, and the 3 pieces she destroyed are missing but make a cute little memory bahaha.
I have a cat that ate a few pieces to my dad's puzzle once, too! Is the kibble really so bad that cardboard looks more appetizing??
Jeez the chaos of pet ownership, I guess
My August goal is to finish the Vampire sequel and send it to the editor. Also, I need to complete the edits on Death of the Bat King. So I have plenty to do! :D You are doing great! Have fun camping. :D Cyber hugs!
THANKS REGINAAAAA!!! :) Fingers crossed!
That quick zoom at 11:22 cracked me up. They look so done with the camera 😭
Time lapse of the dogs was perfect. Such cuties!
Congrats!
my crazy goal this year is to graduate college on time despite my university treating both covid19 and providing enough course sections for everyone to get their requirements inlike a nonissue. And also to finish my screenplay and write one short story a month so I can apply for fully funded MFA programs. so, multiple crazy goals. i don't think i'm qualified to talk you down 😬
*You know, like a responsible adult*
lol Congrats on hitting 35k!
Little Duke looks so grown up
Editing still. I am trying to outline for book 2 so it can maybe be my NaNoWriMo story... we’ll see.
I jumped when I heard mad woman
A million words in a year is 2,740 words a day. I did the math. But I don't usually get that many in a day. lol
One Million. Words. In one year.
Have you lost your ever loving marbles?!? Maybe I misjudge how many words you already write in a day but that's like 83k words a month. That's a Nano and a half every month! I'm not saying you can't do it, I'm saying SHOULD you? lol
Now half a million...that's doable. :p
I totally do that "I'm mad at you instead of me" thing with technology on video games.
I kinda want to try writing 1 million words in a year now. Not sure how I'd keep track though.
Thanks for wearing your mask!
I'm getting a vlogging camera
Woooo! That's awesome, Sonya! Good luck with the vlogging. 📷
Thank you. I especially want to vlog nanowrimo.
I noticed you write using a split screen. New words on the right side, but what's on the left side?
There's a community tab?
Hey, there's a community tab!
“Horror comedy spoof” *ears perk up* Excuse me sir, could you point me to the horror comedy spoof aisle of your lovely bookstore.
How old is Duke? I want to pet him so bad! Is that too weird? I love old dogs 😍 my boy is 13.
Yesssssss, old dogs are the sweetest. :) He'll be 14 this year!
Who are the dogs? I know Duke, but who are the others?
So how serious are you about wanting us to dissuade you from writing 1M words in a year? Because on the one hand, that sounds amazing; on the other hand, that sounds _aaaaaaaaaa_ .
posted 48 seconds ago... youtube gets me
:) :) :)
Meanwhile in Wisconsin, we have to wear sweaters. Wanna swap? I love heat.
VRAMNDO SEMANDOAH
Because u hit 35K subscribers u should try writing 35K in one day lol
Omggggggggg I'm pretty sure I would die bahaha.
