They could cut something else
They could cut renovations to Spencer. Spencer has been the cash sink of the district for years. It even has a giant fountain at the entrance. Meanwhile, other branches have had their identifying characteristics stripped. For example, the Deer Run branch had its deer statue (it was basically like a lawn ornament) that had been the identifying mark of the library for YEARS removed around 2018/2019 to make it more uniform with the rest of the district.
But guess what still sits in the grand entrance of the Spencer Branch... THAT OSTENTATIOUS SPHERICAL FOUNTAIN!!!!!
So there will be no library in the Francis Howell school district?? Libraries should stick to books and get out of the streaming business. If the county wants to provide free streaming then it should be financed as a stand alone project instead of destroying the library system. The exorbitant licensing fees for electronic books can be solved by returning to paper books.
