My uncle has the buick regal GS it basically has everything you can think of . From brembo breaks to air conditioning for the seats that are racing bucket seats i might add. Buick did a fantastic job with this car.
Taken from Wiki, just in case anyone is interested: "Audi's new sport differential, debuted 'torque vectoring' to quattro generation V. The Audi sport differential allowed the dynamic allocation of torque across the rear axle of the debut vehicle: the B8 (2008) S4, and is now an optional addition to all quattro vehicles, which continue to use the 40:60 asymmetric Torsen (Type "C") centre differential. The sport differential replaces the normal open rear differential while the front axle still rely on an open differential with EDL." So I guess you have to add the "sport" rear diff through optioning.
yeh my 99 a4 would have passed that too it has the torsen system funny how buick or opal put new tech in a new car that was in a car 20 years older same brand too put it against the 2018 a6 and it would walk all over it
not really, torsen needs traction on all 4 to distribute and if there is zero traction on one wheel, all power goes to that free spinning wheel. I know because I have a B8 A4 with Torsen, thats why they compensate it with ESC. they could have easily passed if they turned back on the ESC on the A5. Also Sport Diff wouldnt have helped in this situation because it gets activated when you turn the steering wheel ua-cam.com/video/rQowh2Kr38s/v-deo.html
lol not on mine its a manual and a hack ''hitting the brake" will make the system think it has traction somewhere thus looking and moving the car there old tech was good some of there new is shit.
Nawl buddy .. evening Audi cars do that in snow .. instead of moving the power to the area of the car that can push the car it just put he power on all wheel . Which makes the car stuck
Opel Insignia 2.0 is probably the best value for money / price to performance sedan money can buy at the moment, no matter what badge it is hiding under. It is definitely a better value for money than an Audi A4 or A5. However, the video is misleading as the Regal is equipped with a rear electronic torque-vectoring differential and the Audi A5 isn't. Now that would be all well and good if they stated in the video that a rear torque-vectoring differential is available for the A5 as well as a part of a $2,500 sport package and aimed to demonstrate the differences between the two. Instead the point they're making to the masses is limited to "Buick > Audi". For us, car guys, who know our shit, the outcome was predictable and you might as well have made a video about grass being green. Everybody knows that German cars are more expensive, but I'm getting really tired of all these misleading videos where they abuse the fact that they're also highly configurable by picking a setup that lacks a feature meant to improve the cars performance in a specific discipline and then compare to a cheaper car equipped with this feature. There is also a fake review on youtube where they feature a S-class configured with a mostly-visual AMG package, but no roll control and compare it with a sportier sprung Lexus LS with a sport package and better tyres in a slalom. That S-class then rolls more and is slower overall and their conclusion is like: "Wow, the LS beat an AMG!" Well no shit, Sherlock. This kind of misleading, possibly secretly sponsored journalism is sicknening. Fun fact: when they were developing the Insignia 2.0, they used the Audi A4 as a benchmark. Their objective was to offer premium experience in the standard "value" segment.
very well said... Most here can't tell a difference between a made up video and real reviews. Its happened again when type-s was compared with the s4 at laguna seneca. FYI people... Audi has implemented technologies advertised by inferior brands....decades ago. You really think their AWD sucks?
A Finnish car magazine tested the AWD systems of Opel Insignia Country Tourer (Buick Regal), Audi A4 allroad, Volvo XC70, Subaru Outback, Volkswagen Passat Alltrack and Peugeot 508 RXH a few years back and the Insignias AWD system was superior to anyone elses.
CAMARO_KYLE ..........Hell yeah.....is that how you say it over there in shit car land. 20k less would really reflect the Buick falling apart in a year or two and also to take the sting out of the realization that you've just bought what they call in the UK a "minger"............'duck' here comes the shock & Awe
@@Gez492 Buick is placing consistently in the top 5 reliable brands most years either beating Toyota or Lexus depending on the year The turbo chargers are the only fault to Buick’s as turbos can go out far before the motor gets anywhere close to done I have a 2012 regal gs or ya know opel insignia And I’ve got 180k miles with no issues aside from 1 recall and having to reseal the headlights but that’s very minor I do clean my turbo every 50k miles by just using degreaser down the intake manifold but those cans cost $10 and in general it’s good to clean and carbon deposits built up in the motor too It just SERIOUSLY extends the life of the turbo
ESC was off on the Audi, which disables the electronic torque vectoring system. BMW tried similar tricks a few years back. And this trick requires zero traction (and hence zero torque) on the 3 wheels to work. If the "driver" in the A5 had lightly touched the brake pedal, the car would also have moved off the rollers. Seems a bit desperate to me, as it is deliberately deceptive. I thought the reviewer would have been sufficiently experienced to have recognized the grift, he has been around for a while.
A lot of wrong statements. Even when ESC is off, traction control remains active. There is no need to touch the brake pedal, system will do it, all the driver must do is wait with accelerator pedal pressed, what Audi driver didn't do here. When it comes to torque then even wheel in the air needs about 50 Nm to spin, so "zero" is rather a simplification. Buick was better than Audi in this test because of one reason - it has two separate clutch packs at rear axle, so it can power rear wheels independently, without any brakes intervention. Audi has just an open diff, no torque vectoring.
Apply the brakes and the Audi would crawl right out. That's how torsens distribute power if one wheel has 0 traction. Likealways , the test is set up for one to win. GM has a great and system, but it's still leagues behind Audi/vw and Subaru when you factor in actual driving conditions, like moving over 25mph when most "awd" turns off
Indeed. What i don't understand about Audi is that in A4quattro platform it used to be 50/50, then in last gen they switched to 40:60 rear-biased torsen solution, which helped cure the understeer, and now they switched to front-biased solution (while still having longitudinaly mounted engine). I really don't get them. Finally after a long time (S2) i liked some audi (S5), so they must immediately ruin it completely :-/
+Doctor Morbid Everything beyond 50/50 is available. Focus on dynamics, not statics. As a matter of fact, Quattro Ultra feels more awd than classic one.
SevenTwenty8ight - they compared the base AWD system to each other. That is fair. Getting the optional AWD on the Audi (which already costs $10,000 more before getting the sport package) is not fair - how much do you have to spend to get the Audi to compete effectively?
What about demonstrate on the real snow up the hill... what about step on the pedal for longer than one second? you didn't let quattro chance... another "fair" test :D
I'm not an Audi fanboy, but comparing an Audi to a general motors product is pretty laughable. It's like comparing a empty aquafina bottle to a titanium canteen.
I mean, it’s not like they tried to compare the interiors. If they were to do that, it would be laughable. An Audi should be compared to that of a Cadillac at least, but at the end of the day, the Buick made it out and the Audi didn’t.🤷♂️
a buick beat an audi at a buick event just like how that mazda beat a subaru at that mazda event in a similar demonstration of AWD prowess/ability...so, why didn't the audi drive keep the gas pedal pressed for more than 2 seconds? did he give the car enough time to "sort things out" or is this one of those "flaws" with the quattro system?...also, buick needs to lose the large belt buckle emblem and go with something more subdued as the emblem detracts from what looks like a nice car...
