I know my friend used to look up videos on great depression era cooking when he went through a rough patch himself, not the greatest advice or lead but maybe it can help? I'll be prayin for ya man
For the dog food I dunno how wooded the area near you is but I know camping old camping advice was to tie up the food on a rope and toss it over a tree and tie the rope around the base of the tree to keep it safe/out of the tent as well.

Dogwood I keep in multiple black bags, a plastic container and a back pack. I want to say 'So far it's been fine' but I also don't want to jinx myself
