I just went to work for a Kia dealership and this recall is the first thing I learned. It's switching the DTC2 and clutch actuator pins in the harness to the fuse box and adding the location reassignment stickers along with the 30 amp fuse to a 15 amp. So for all owners having that problem this is a new recall that just hit the books.

Could you reiterate what caused this failure? You mentioned there was likely excessive heat which melted parts and also worn bearings in the system. Are these Non-Robust/defective parts? Is/was this covered under Hyundai's Powertrain Coverage: Hyundai's powertrain warranty extends for 10 years or 100,000 miles past the original new vehicle sale date, whichever comes first. Covered parts include the engine, transmission, and transaxle. I'm concerned about holding on to my car long term. Thanks for all you do HSD.

My 2020 Hyundai Kona was at Reliable Hyundai in Springfield Missouri for over 1 1/2 years. It only had 6500 miles on it and under full warranty. The dealership experience was horrible. The excuse, week after week, month after month, was that the couldn’t get approval from Hyundai Customer Care. Only after getting an attorney involved, did they finally take the car back. During that time, they didn’t give me a loaner vehicle. I spent over $16,000 for 1 1/2 years of rental car expenses. I was expecting full reimbursement, but they only reimbursed $4000. What a scam! I finally went down the street and bought a Toyota Camry. I learned a lesson. I hope you avoid what I experienced.

@@hybridsolutiondiagnostics I'm happy to have found you. I didn't know what a clutch actuator was until I first saw your video on changing the fluid. I've changed it twice and will do so every year to keep it as clean as possible. You are a Godsend my friend. Thank you for helping me to keep my 2020 Ioniq in good shape and what problems I can expect.
I recently discovered that I can change the regenerative breaking levels with the steering wheel paddles. I noticed my gas mileage improve when I put to level 2. Do you recommend using this or leaving it alone? Because the car keeps it off every time I start it and I have to turn it back on.

Jose, amazing content here! Just found your videos today as I noticed a 2017 Niro clutch fluid is decreasing. Do you think we could drill a small hole in the bottom of the hosing in order to drain the fluid and gain some time before puling the whole engine and trans to change the release bearing?
Looks like there is substantial material at the bottom of the housing to accommodate?
Anyone been able to successfully do this?

I love your videos, I love to learn more about these vehicles. I changed the clutch fluid, but I think I got air in the system (showing a P17EB error), I tried to find the menu you showed to bleed the system in a bi-directional tool (I even tried with the LAUNCH X431 PRO) but couldn't find it. I'm wondering if Kia have hidden it away needing their tool? I have a Niro 2023 Hybrid, just wondered if you or anyone here happened to know about this or not.

Hi Jose! I've been having an issue with my 2017 Kia Niro, which is why I found your videos. For the past couple of years, when I come to a stop, there is a sudden, but brief, grab, as if I'm very quickly pressing the brake pedal. It seems to do this most often when I first drive the vehicle after it has sat for several hours, especially overnight. The dealer says they can't find a problem, and claims the vehicle didn't do it while they had it for three days. I know it's not the brakes causing the issue, because it doesn't have the problem if I put the vehicle in neutral when I come to a stop. Originally, I thought it might be an issue with the gearbox, because there were a few times it shifted roughly as well, but I took it to the dealer, and they flushed the gearbox and added new fluid; so far, it hasn't shifted roughly since, but my issue on slowing down is still present. I'm wondering if this might be something to do with the clutches; either the hydraulic or electric dual clutches. Now, I will say that I don't think it could be the hydraulic clutch, because the vehicle does it whether the engine is running or it's in EV mode, when the engine is obviously not engaged, which to me seems like it has to be something to do with the gearbox/dual clutches. I say this because in EV mode, the engine isn't engaged, but still have the problem, yet in neutral, the gearbox is not engaged, and do not have the problem. I have almost 130K miles on my Niro, so no factory warranty anymore, and am dreading having to pay to have this looked at, if/when it gets worse and/or not able to be driven at all.

    Hi !
I have an Ioniq 2018 HEV and recently I have a problem :
At a speed of 30-40km/h, when I press the brake pedal, the message Check Hybrid System appears and the dashboard warning light , the car jerks a little, after which it switches to the thermal engine and drives normally
The error code is U1011 Lost communication with HCA by HCU (L-CAN)
The problem is not a permanent one, the car jerks more often after I restart it and drive away
Sometimes the car does not have this problem, it runs normally.
Have you encountered this symptom before? thank you

I JUST REPLACED MY GEAR BOX ON MY 2017 KIA NIRO.
But based on this video and others I decided to replace the slave cylinder. I pulled the transmission with the drive motor, leaving the engine in. So I bled the slave cylinder while I had it out using gravity to help me. I installed the actuator in that position and then reinstalled the transmission. It working well except I get a bit of a lag in the shift from start to second gear. Some times it's more like a learch. After that it drives fine not matter how many times I come to a stop. But as soon as I shut the car off and restart the lerch is back for the first shift. Any ideas? I do not have a scan tool.

EV motor is not being used at all it seems. My local dealer won't take the car for 2 months! I'll have to go elsewhere. I'll look for the leaky clutch fluid. Better have your car diagnosed by dealership and if expensive for your budget go and take the diagnose to another mechanic that has experience on these type of transmissions/Hybrid cars. I wonder if the new models 2023 hybrid dual clutch DCT have a drain hole now. Kia Niro hybrid, and kona hybrid and Hyundai iconic all have the same gearbox, and engine and battery. Have they learnt to put in a drain hole ? Thanks. Great video.

      I'm wondering that too 😅.
Unfortunately other than Toyota where I live ( Australia ) only Hyundai and Kia have Hybrid options in their line up 😅.
Hence was hoping the vehicles would be at the more reliable end of the scale but since its a DCT, I'm looking elsewhere 😅😂

You must replace, otherwise it will enter water easily to the motor parts, like belt, mechatronics, clutch actuator, and so. Very expensive parts any of these ones.

Hello Jose I finally got my car back today. My Hyundai adviser told me that the performance is not as its used to be due to my dual clutch actuator assy and I’m not able to utilize the sport mode at all. Anyway my question is if I ask my mechanic to replace this dual clutch system only…does he need to take down the whole transmission assembly like u did in this video or he just needs to swap this with a new replacement? Thank u in advance very much boss

Hyundai will actually sell you the support tool for holding the engine in place, it's in the catalog you get when you are kia/Hyundai certified/approved.
