Wow, good job on finding that. I didn't even know about brush on wire insulation until I had a '99 A6. So many bend points had cracked that I finally just started to brush this stuff on every joint I thought was failing. Doors and coil connectors were coated with it. Audi wires are one gauge too small and the insulation is too sensitive to outside chemicals including the sun. If you have a connector ( like the ECM plug) 3M has a sealer spray. It costs more than gold but it if you seperate a bunch of wires, but none are fully broken, you can hose them down with it and keep them from shorting.
