  • Decided to head back to the Tobacco Root mountains again for this video and filmed a bit more at the area where I stayed: Revenue Flats. The wind picked up significantly during this weekend's adventure, so I didn't do nearly as much filming on this location as I should've. But, Montana did give me a beautiful sunset to watch as the evening progressed, and I took a trip down yet another technical 4x4 trail to have a look at a good sized mining operation.

    You have to admire the craftsmanship of the folks who built that crusher. Keep exploring and poking around! I enjoy exploring. Otherwise I wouldn’t be selling my house and hitting the road at 78.

    Hey man!! Looks like ur doing well up there in the snow!! I’m still using my air conditioner down here in southern AZ haha. I say switch things up and keep it interesting on ur channel! I get burnt out on channels that only talk about one thing and just keep repeating themselves haha. Have you figured out what’s wrong with the drone? Oh and btw I’m planning a trip up to Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado area but I’m waiting until spring/summer tho because I’m not a huge fan of snow haha. Stay safe!!

      Havent figured out the drone situation but I kinda gave up on it for now. Super busy currently working in Moab for the next couple weeks. Then I'm going to road trip west and probably hit up death valley. I love that place especially, and only, in the winter. It's really nice here, too. Almost hit 50 today with overcast, I was in a t shirt for a good portion of it. Really wish I could dedicate more time to creating my next video because in order to keep my channel growing, I have to appease the YT algorithmic gods. But I am unfortunately way too busy to create any decent content, although I have managed to get out and drive hells revenge and poison spider mesa, both of which are incredibly beautiful and got some decent footage from that.
      Also got a chance to talk with rory from the "trail mater" channel. Seems like a really cool dude and I'm hoping I'll be able to chat longer with him. Dont think there will be any footage or collab videos from it, I just would like to meet some of the locals down here and maybe learn a bit about what life is like here, and also maybe learn some techniques from an offroad extrication expert that I hopefully would never have to utilize, lol.

    I like the exploration videos as that is my style of travel. I have a question for you. I think you got your atv for "work" . It is a great vehicle for getting into places you shouldn't take you truck. I've thought about getting a dirt bike but have wondered about using an ebike. What are your thoughts?

    • @downbytheriver501
      @downbytheriver501  2 роки тому +1

      Ebike technology has really come leaps and bounds, and they're quiet which is nice most of the time. But, when I'm traipsing around in the grizzly bear ladled woods, I like to make my presence known. Plus, if I ran out of fuel, it would be easier to find a solution for that vs an ebike(had someone earlier this season run out of fuel and we used the petcock as a drain to get her some fuel from my bike). That all being said, I like both and would love to have both, but I am not in a place right now to spend much more money on toys!
      And yes, I did purchase the UTV to be used for work, and will be used as such coming up here tomorrow for a few weeks....i did use it for 400 miles of fun, though, so I guess it's been more fun than work!

      @@downbytheriver501 do you ever see anyone using them on the trails? I'd like something I could carry without a trailer.

    • @downbytheriver501
      @downbytheriver501  2 роки тому +1

      @@Retired-nohurry only time I've seen an ebike on the trails is when I met up with kenny of all trades over in Minnesota. But you could do a front receiver hitch and carry a dirtbike/dual purpose on the front of your truck! I do like how compact his is when it's all folded up, though. Downside is you lose a lot of cab space in the rear seat with it. Upside is it weighs 200+ lbs less, doesn't stink, and probably has much less maintenance than a gas powered bike.

      And yep, we had a great (2) thanksgivings! I'm honored to have as many amazing friends as I do here in montana. Makes me feel at home even though I dont really have one. I'm finding myself longing more and more for a piece of land, but I'm afraid the longer I wait, the more priced out I am getting about owning a house and land here in MT. All the folks running away from their states to achieve a bit more freedom here in MT have drastically raised housing...like 100% in the last year.

      Nothing major so far. Had some minor issues with cracking in the gel coat, some broken plastic on the outside but other than that, it's been great. I do also take it on some pretty crazy, relatively speaking, trails though...so that would probably explain the minor issues.

      Tha is buddy. Hey, I did a bit of UA-cam stalking and read you have an f550 super singled? What kinda mpgs you getting? What kinda camper you have? I really want to bite the bullet and upgrade to a 5500 or 550 and super single it, because...well, they're badass but also because I have hit my limits with my current setup and would like to get something that's more heavy duty and able to withstand the offroading I desire to do(would love to do more camping like my first video without worrying about damaging current setup). The downside is I have priced out my build and with a new 5500, super single kit through buckstop, custom bed...I'm looking at 110k. That's a whole lotta money and not sure if I'd be okay with dropping that kinda coin when I'm already pretty close to my own personal limits financially with all the accoutrements to life I already have. If only ram would sponsor me, hahahah
