I always love the insight you provide to videogame pieces as a musician. Not only going over some of the theory and technical stuff, but going into the emotions and themes the composer is trying to get across through sound. I love that it's done without intimate knowledge of the games the pieces are to accompany, because without that context you are left with only what the composer has control over. It allows for pure concentration on the piece. No elaborate writing or game mechanics or frustrations detracting from what you are here for, or to detract from what makes your videos worth watching. A lot of the fights start out calmer more controlled you have all your life you are doing well against the boss but as the fight progresses the boss gets more aggressive and both life bars are decreasing with each attack.
love how hype the first 2 songs are and the third being a bit slower but more triumphant like a national anthem is a perfect way to describe it, this soundtrack does not disappoint!
If you want to experience music that has touched the hearts of many, I’d recommend the Ori series’s OST composed by Gareth Coker. It is the only collection of music to ever have me tear up at just the thought of it.
Fly of Beelzebub is one of my favorite tracks, as it really captures the hectic feeling of fighting the Calamity bosses - high speed, unwieldy, but rhythmic. Every boss can be taken down with some ease if you just listen to the 'beat' of the fight.
Also why I love Stinging Onslaught by Turquoise (Ennway) its like a less crazy version of FOB that has its own stuff that makes it so fitting for queen bee
What makes the interludes, especially interlude 2 my favorite is that it clearly acts as a milestone flag that separates Calamity into 3 act story. Interlude 2 starts off with the Ravager's theme in a bit faster while a lot 'cleaner' to invoke some kind of montage of all your previous fights, while the middle part basically asks 'if this is just the half way point, what's next to come?', only to end by teasing literally every single major boss that will come next by using the most recognizable motif in their theme, like the end of a cartoon season where the next season's villains are all masked under a shadow. Also, interlude 1 plays a reverse role to interlude 2 where the somber tones feel as if the player, or you, barely managed to survive the fight with Calamitas, as the theme before interlude 1 was Raw Unfiltered Calamity, hence why Silence before the storm, as if you are in the center of the hurricane. It then guides you to the sea with the mid-section and finale with the rising 'bop-bop-bop' (idk what instrument was used) that reminds someone of the deep sea or something bubbling under the water.
In the flight of beelzebub the "somebody scream" reminds me of the one from the song "The big black" and the chill part reminds me of another song called "Blue zenith"
i think the order of the next 3 is, Unholy Ambush, Unholy Insurgency and Feral Amalgamation. Then after its the sentinels, doggo, doggo phase 2, Murderswarm, yharon, yharon phase 2(beloved) interlude 3 then scal

TerrariaPlayerGamer! Fly of the Beelzebub to me is when you're in a rush and need to run across town but then slow down to glance at the window sales. Open Frenzy feels like I'm on a roller coaster that is running away from the villain. And as you near the end of the song you're excited to escape to freedom. Be ready to hear those bells more often... from her on out they feature in nearly all the post Moonlord boss themes, the final battle is on the horizon.
It's cool how much you can envision just from music, with the interlude I can clearly envision a story: The end of a boss fight with what is thought to be the great evil defeated, goes into fanfare of the people celebrating the victory, followed by the party settling down as night sets and the hero looks out the window, either seeing a silhouette or a place on the horizon, realizing something is not right, then the new evil reveals itself to the hero showing the victory was all but temporary, finally the hero snaps out of it or awakens from a nightmare and is questioned about whats wrong, leading into the sinister end.
When you were talking about how the music breaks to a calmer and more hopeful section just to break back into the main rhythm; I think that is representative of the player to an extent, or at least the hopeful struggle on your end. Makes more sense to view the songs as a battle in that sense, rather than just the theme of the boss/enemy.

Ohh you're getting to some of the GOOD good stuff (all of it is good, but this is where things start getting even more world-threatening than they already were). If you're looking for more music to listen to I highly recommend the hollow knight soundtrack! It's very long but all of it is extremely good. If I had to suggest a handful of specific songs I'd say Hornet, Nosk, Broken Vessel, and the Lace Silksong sample. That last one is my favorite of Christopher Larkin's currently released music by far.
Storms before the catastrophes always reminds me of this old mobile app like plants vs zombies called tiny defence, and if you listen to the music, it sounds exactly like the second part of the song
One thing I would love a reaction of someone with a music background is to Soundtracks of the 16 bit era. Putting together some of the greatest tracks with such a hard limit on both memory space and available notes to play. I think that needs a crazy amount of creativity. Soundtracks of games like, Secret of Mana, Lufia 2, Donkey Kong Country 2, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario Yoshis Island. Would not care which of these games, or any other with great music, but getting a bit of insight from today about what makes them so memorable would be nice.
Personally, I want you after the main calamity soundtrack to react to the Calamity *Infernum* soundtrack. The music in there is so nice and I think you would LOVE IT! Much love ❤
If you get the chance you should check out The Shadow of the Colossus OST if you havent already its incredible! A few tracks I would recommend are The Prologue, The Opened Way , Violent Encounter, Revived Power, Swift Horse, Green Hill, Attack and Separation with Despair.
After you react to all of these, you should listen to the Calamity Infernum tracks by PinpinNeon! It’s new music for each of the vanilla bosses that plays when you do the Calamity Infernum mod, one of the hardest difficulties in modded terraria. The music has some really awesome stuff (like queen bee having a Flight of the Bumblebee motif, Empress of Light being inspired by tohou tracks, etc.) It’s really good and each track is filled with little musical easter eggs!
Awesome Reaction, by the way the bells in the Music indicate the comming of great evil or danger. It will be interesting to see you figure out which soundtrack is the one that other are warning about xD
in my opinion, in a cutscene that would be shown with Storms before the Catastrophes(based on where it takes place (after Moon Lord), and how it would play in a more animated version of the story) (opening of the song) The hero battles the celestial threat (Moon Lord), and, after a long and difficult battle, defeats it. (the calm march) the hero begins their journey back home from the conflict. (the fanfare) the celebration begins as a massive party is thrown in the hero's honor before the scene fades. (the calm yet sinister(calamity bells)) a sense of dread, a sinister glow, the hero looks confused, but with a sense of dread. (the Profaned Flame(the evil-ish dread)) the hero looks onwards in fear, as The Profaned Flame herself appears, threatening to turn everything the hero's worked so hard to protect to ash(imagine the opening scene of act 3 in Diablo 3 (the message from Azmodan to Leah)). (the calm before the sinister drone) the protagonist wakes up in a panic, sweat dripping from their brows. As they calm their breath, the cutscene fades... I'm really to see your reactions to the last stretch of the game, as these tracks hit harder than diamonds. if your interested in other soundtracks from games you might not have heard from, I'd recommend the soundtracks of the Epic Battle Fantasy games, a series of games made by Matt Roszak and soundtracks by Phyrnna)
You should definitely check out more biome songs, such as the songs that play in the Sulphuric Seas, which change depending on how deep you are in the ocean (wasteland, Hadopelagic Pressure, R’LYEH, void and Threats of the Ocean Floor, which is the final boss of the waters)
I do think, after you have listened to ALL of Calamity, and if the whole album is out, listen to the entirety of "They know who they are". Support Dokuro's true originals.

Imagine if he went back to Cave Story.
Terraria calamity song is *PLATINUM!*
just noticed that storms before the catastrophe has a teaser of servants of the scourge and roar of the jungle dragon
it says "drop dat 5/8 breakdown nuke" for a brief second above the song name at 4:44
I loved that violin on Open Frenzy!
Storms before the catastrophes always reminds me of this old mobile app like plants vs zombies called tiny defence, and if you listen to the music, it sounds exactly like the second part of the song
Can't wait for a reaction to "Roar of the Jungle Dragon" my favorite song in calamity and Terraria as a whole
Consider checking out the Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling soundtrack! I personally love it a lot and there's some good variety within it.
I love how you can hear the beginning melody of roar of the jungle dragon
After you react to all of these, you should listen to the Calamity Infernum tracks by PinpinNeon! It’s new music for each of the vanilla bosses that plays when you do the Calamity Infernum mod, one of the hardest difficulties in modded terraria. The music has some really awesome stuff (like queen bee having a Flight of the Bumblebee motif, Empress of Light being inspired by tohou tracks, etc.) It’s really good and each track is filled with little musical easter eggs!
2:32 I like these "relaxation" parts in intense music so it won't be too much for your ears
you should totally make a second channel where you play the games where these OSTs come from in order to have the full experience of the songs
You're getting so close, I'm so excited oh my god
Awesome Reaction, by the way the bells in the Music indicate the comming of great evil or danger.
It will be interesting to see you figure out which soundtrack is the one that other are warning about xD
Oh, I'm sooo looking forward to the Devourer of Gods' reaction video
in my opinion, in a cutscene that would be shown with Storms before the Catastrophes(based on where it takes place (after Moon Lord), and how it would play in a more animated version of the story)
(opening of the song) The hero battles the celestial threat (Moon Lord), and, after a long and difficult battle, defeats it.
You should react to the “leviathan theme - epic orchestral arrangement” it’s an absolutely amazing orchestral version of the leviathan theme
You should definitely check out more biome songs, such as the songs that play in the Sulphuric Seas, which change depending on how deep you are in the ocean (wasteland, Hadopelagic Pressure, R’LYEH, void and Threats of the Ocean Floor, which is the final boss of the waters)
All has been filmed. To be uploaded in order when I like.
@@LionmightOfficial Sounds great, looking forward to them :)
And as always, I love the violin parts
next episode gonna be crazy
Storms before the Catastrophes contains a motif from an upcoming *banger*
fly of beelzebub is one of my favorite works from dokuro
I do think, after you have listened to ALL of Calamity, and if the whole album is out, listen to the entirety of "They know who they are". Support Dokuro's true originals.
A goddess is approaching and with her the full fury of the sun… are you ready?
These themes perfectly match how the boss fight feels and plays
Thr ravager improvisation was supurb. Loving this series
Holy i actually didn't know Storms beforenthe catastrophe was this good.. i toughtnut would just be another one of those "Before the" Songs that is chill...
He needs to do infernum after this lmao
POST MOON LORD GOOES HAAAAARD ASF
Storms before catastophes is kinda like: yay you killed moon lord a major milestone but its gonna get alot harder from here
Near the end of "Storms Before the Catastrophe" you hear the motifs of the more powerful enemies you're going to soon fight.
