    Chad you might think about after lining up the engine mounts, I’d tighten up the bolts on the shims that are attached to the motor mount on the engine and weld them in place and you wouldn’t want those to move after the engine is bolted in place if that makes sense. I figured it a few minutes Jimbo would’ve said the same thing. Lol

    You remind me of me when I was young. Doing crazy things with cars that nobody would ever tried. Thankful for the technical equipment that people like yourself can share. I can say, you are so blessed that Jolene loves what you are doing and has the capability of working on cars also.

    I have to advise, by introducing linkage system to your engine mounts you run the risk of having the engine Shift to one side or the other. Engine mounts have to be a hard connect. A good fix for this is remove the engine brace from the frame bolted to the engine then drop your edge back in weld the cross brace when you are happy with where the engine is sitting.

    Chad I sure hope you're going to weld the new brackets in , once you get them where you want.. You don't want any movement, and hope that 4 nut's and bolts do not ever work loose. Anyway It's really going to be a sweet ride. Love the colors.. And Come on Miss Jet Set. We are rooting for you Jolene.

    I used a 2001 Tahoe for a donor car for my 68 elCamino. As far as what I heard that 5.3 had 285 HP from factory but you can tune the ECM and get close to 500 HP without buying extra parts. Haven't tuned mine yet but want to when I get it all done. :)

    I remember enstalling a 383 mercury engine in my 56 mercury about 55 years ago. I didnt use any fancy ready made brackets. My install was a stick welder metal cut offs and a little engenuity. But everything worked 100 percent.

    Chad I put the bolts in from the front on my LS swap and had to drop the oil pan to change the o ring on the oil pickup and had to unbolt the engine to jack it up and the bolt on the drivers side was a pain to get out because it was hitting the power steering pump,so when I put it back in I went in front the back

    On your old chrome bumper on Elvis, even if it is pitted, try polishing it with a very fine steelwool. You will be amazed at how good that works. It would be worth a try. After polished, put chrome polish or wax on it. It doesn't really take a lot of work and will look great usually. Love the daily videos.

    The idea behind the bolt orientation is to prevent or at least slow down the separation of parts if a nut vibrates loose off a bolt. It is an aircraft traditional guideline. Back/Down/In. Does it work? Do not know for sure but when working on airplanes the back of my cranium begins to creak when it comes time to bolt things together. Been doing it for so long it happens anytime I pick up a socket wrench. It cannot hurt and it helps keep me from going insane!

  • @daveyelmer3222
    @daveyelmer3222 2 роки тому +1

    You noted the problem of the engine moving 'side to side'. I trust you are going to weld something to not let that happen. (maybe weld the 'extenders' to the engine mount?) I wouldn't expect the bolts to hold it in one place, once you get on it. Wouldn't want the engine to, say, move sideways and lock up the steering, for instance....
    Mr. Positive

    • @daveyelmer3222
      @daveyelmer3222 2 роки тому

      also, you can add any engine angle you want by drilling the holes on the "straps" different on the front and back...

    You are correct sir… the hardware is installed with the head of the bolt most forward (or inserted from the front towards the back) and mounting hardware from the side the bolt head should be furthest out (or inserted with the threads inboard)

    TO Jim: you should have a jetway Hydramatic transmission. NO park check linkage. Un hook linkage at transmission. Put it in Low, then push it to park position and see if you now have park. Push car to verify it is in park. If you now have park adjust linkage to align with transmission. If no park You have a broken park pawl in transmission that locks it in park. Try the first one first! I assume transmission is original. IF NOT SAME PROCESS WITH OTHER AUTO TRANSISSIONS.

    I’ve seen guys section the LS oil pan for ground clearance, Halfass Customes is one of them. Mark it with painters tape. Cut along the tape and tig it back together. Add a smear of JB Weld for insurance. This thing’s going to be a bad ass hot rod with that LS in there.

    That happened to me clean up the engine bay took the time to wet sand paint it, then when my brother and Pop's installed the engine scratch the engine bay installing the engine. My POP'S said I should have taped or put cardboard to prevent it from getting scratched, I either touched it up or just left it as a reminder. After all the dress up on the engine and sleeved all the wire's in looms everything looked tight and right when lifting up my engine hood. Everyone is running LS SWAP? I guess if you want good gas mileage and reliability that's the way to go from what I hear.
