I like to think that due to it happening 3 years prior to rejoining the games, plus, the old guy admitting to Gi Hun that he wanted to experience the games himself, is more than enough reason for him to let the "001 frontman theory" slip by. Of course we can make the connection as a viewer ourselves, but I don't think it would be realistic for Gi Hun to out of the blue assume 001 is the frontman. Afterall, 3 years of grieving for the dead, and in the constant search of the isle, are not the best conditions to remember every single detail. It makes his character more humane and relatable, because it's an honest and realistic mistake.
I don't think it would be realistic to automatically assume 001 is the frontman... but since he's only had 1 prior example of playing the game, and there was plant in that game, he should probably be assuming someone is a plant in this game too...just without knowing the number. Then again he is an impulsive gambler so intense forethought is not really part of his character I suppose.
@@myclamish well no, its more that Gi hun is somewhat naive. he is positive about the world and humanity, and trust people. its much more that the probability of having an implant is very low, and is not at all the first thing you would think. it was also not part of his plan to play the games again, and was much more on survival mode, therefore much less performant in judgement and strictly based on survival e
I would definitely suspect if I were him, not only because it's 001, but also because Frontman: 1. knew Gi-hun's name before it was told to him. 2. has an obviously fake "real" name. 3. is weirdly a ridiculously strong hand-to-hand combatant, and has never offered an explanation for how he learned this (unlike the military characters). 4. has this weird death-stare when the rest of the X voters are all cheering, thinking they've won the vote. 5. insists on attacking the O players first during the battle royale, which Gi-hun specifically says is "what THEY want." Also, Gi-hun's friend (forget his name, but Player 380) clearly says there's something off about 001, but doesn't specify what. All these things together... yeah, I'd be suspicious, sooner or later. But I also like the explanation offered by Gi-hun's actor, who basically just said... yeah, he's kinda stupid. He's just not the smartest guy in the room, ever. And no one else has reason to suspect a plant (although 380 still gets suspicious when he sees Frontman kill that guy). To Gi-hun's credit, he does seem to clock each of these moments, just never strings them together.
You can also say that S1 was about how the rich exploit the poor while S2 is about how greed for money drives the players crazy, which slowly but surely kills off Gi-Heun's ideals about saving others
Theres a part in season 1 when Gi-Hun is talking to Sang-Woo and told him there are games that girls are better than boys like Gonggi. Was interesting to see that played in the second season.
I totally forgot the Front Man took a bullet to his right shoulder. I wonder if he was still feeling some pain when trying to do the spinning top game using his non-dominant hand.
I doubt it given the front man is left handed and we see him lifting his left arm constantly with no issues. He was deliberately using his right hand knowing he would struggle, basically in an attempt to sabotage the team knowing he himself wouldn't be shot if they failed, and them being the final team to take part there would be no witnesses to see him be spared
@feritye767 it really wouldn't matter if the other team survived. They could just shoot them all, only the VIP spectators would be aware of this and wouldn't care. Everyone else that already passed would just hear an announcement that both teams were eliminated and they would just assume both teams failed.

Gi-Hun becoming front man won't be surprising because after season 1 it felt the same. Since season 3 is the last season, I think the show will end with a choice if he wants to become a front man or not keeping it open ended for future.
What I don't get is why they didn't suspect the fisherman from the start. He is on an island that wants to be kept secret, and the people who shot him, would have money. With that money to pay or own your own boats to go find the body, and considering he's the man's brother. He would surely want him found, so the clear obvious conclusion is that the fisherman is working for them and is in fact a spy. And all those times going out, he was making sure they never found it.

4. The rebellion was pretty dumb but his primary goal is stopping the games entirely, not sending everyone home. He took a chance for his main goal after convincing everyone to just quit failed in the first rounds.
5. He's not a Sherlock Holmes type character, dude. Even after the all the planning, he's a still a normal IQ guy fueled by ideology.
6. I don't think you understand the point of the show. He's not trying to leave, he's basically a suicidal guy trying to end the game. Leaving the game doesn't change his bitterness about the game itself.
