I did 37 years of this, a few sad times but a lot of good times, just loved it, had to retire, silly bugger I got a stage 4 Cancer, in remission now but not allowed underground, loved the work as a Shift Boss and the Guys are a different breed.
Been fixing broken gear since 88. captive stopes, track, mechanised........anyone that says this isn't work hasn't been there! Different each and every method, all dangerous. Hats off to the mend women that kept me working and helped me raise a family. Excellent video! Thanks for sharing
Congratulations to the maker of this short video! I worked as an underground fitter ten years ago and could never explain it or show it to my friends and family. You capture everything except the heat and humidity perfect - Thanks for your hard work.
Thank you so much for this upload. These underground mining machines are smaller but with strength and safety built in to go anywhere. Take care mrbluenun
Does anyone know what kind of work an Electrical Engineer would do in an underground mine? There's a vacany for a graduate engineer and I'd like to get an idea of the type of work I'd expect to be doing.
@@maloo303 What?? Da Fuck that happen.. I worked with him in FNQ at C-Wood Tin Mine & over at Waterloo near Thunderbox W.A & have not seen him since. Watched ya vid &.. Fuck. Ta man for replying..
Im Just about to start at siuth Australian copper/ uranium mine as driller Offsider. $30 an hour, 12 hour days, two weeks on, one week off. Split shift
Not a lot of work here, just a bunch of operators , witch is good ,all the power to ya. Try working at KLgold INC , you learn how to work old school . Love it.
In the coalmines in France we went down the vertical shaft not slope or drift and we worked more than 1000 m underground. The coal seam were inclined ( average 45° ) and the thickness 1 m maximum...! Not mechanized...+ firedamp risks +roof collapse + black lung at 40 years old.....! That's why I think the mining work shown on the video is easy, because the machines do the job not the miners..!
@@enthalpiaentropia7804 worked in both Mechanised UG metal and Manual and Mechanised UG Coal 😂😂😂 gotta say both are a sweet piece of heaven in their own way

The earlier model 2900's didn't flick the trans lock lever around when the door opened you had to do it yourself
