@@it_punkkid7298 the reality is, though, that if you’re a wrestler who’s gone from earning a couple hundred thousand dollars a year, to AEW paying you $1m+, there’s no way you leave before your contract expires! You ride that shit out and THEN jump ship to maximise your income.
Okada is on a 3 year $13.5m contract, for example. That’s $4.5m a year. He’s never going to earn that anywhere else! Roman Reigns is apparently on $5m-$6m a year and he’s WAY more of a ratings draw and merchandise mover!
Mercedes is on a $10m contract, apparently it’s 5 years, so $2m a year with a break clause in the 3rd year. She’s not going to earn that kind of money in WWE!
Moxley is reportedly on $6m a year, Jericho I’ve seen $4m and $5m, Ospreay is likely on a similarly ridiculous salary and then there’s MJF who is their biggest draw who is also going to be on a similarly stupid salary.
In WWE, Main Roster salaries start at $250k! If you’re a Main Eventer it starts at $2m!
So if you’re someone in AEW earning $500k-$1m, I don’t blame them at all for holding out to the end of their contract, milking AEW for every penny they can and then going over to WWE! (Oh and NXT is around $150k for the top guys & girls)
The major positive of going to WWE though is that although you might be on a lower salary initially, if you perform well and get over with the fans the earning potential is really high
They may make less per shoe and work more dates in WWE. But between merchandise and promotion, they will make more than AEW could ever have offered.
I just want to see Pentagon on Fenix on WWE programming, I could care less what the Naysayers say
I first saw Penta on Lucha Underground and thought he was pretty good in that spot. AEW has lotsa money available and no real management and zero booking. If Penta & Fenix do head to WWE and the company directs them, I would be surprised if Penta doesn’t have a good run. Fenix has had some injury issues, no? That could shorten his time there.

Cornette said it perfect. WWE are obviously planning to expand internationally, Mexico in particular. So they are on a drive to sign stars that are popular in Mexico. AEW has given no indication they have any overseas plans beyond the occasional show in the UK, so why not make the jump?

Let's just say if the Lucha Bros go to WWE, that would mean that AEW is doing some really bad business because they were there since day one when AEW debuted. They have no locker room leadership and that includes Chris Jericho. If the Lucha Bros go to WWE and I know that this is for entertainment purposes but if they do go, that would be the absolute dagger to the heart of AEW. The company has only been out for 5 years and Tony Khan already thinks that he's doing something "extravagant." Stop being on X, have someone create better storylines, book better matches and stop being a spoiled, rich kid by spending money on belts that won't mean shit in the next 5 years.

@@donholmes1988 is it AEW doing that bad-or WWE doing that good? They signed a billion dollar deal with Netflix, they are on fire. And AEW has nowhere near the merchandising machine WWE has, that’s where the real money comes from for the wrestlers.
the interesting thing is I remember is Fenix making anti-WWE comments once he joined AEW... then again, I'm sure that's just part of the game.

AEW is in such a weird position these days. They don't have any stars so anyone could leave the company today and it wouldn't change the low ratings or ticket sales at all. AEW is just... existing.

The thing about “contract tampering” I find weird is that, IF WWE were talking to wrestlers to start a contract with them when their CURRENT deal expires, then why is that a problem?
In Soccer, for example, when a player is in the final 6 months of their contract, they are free to talk to other clubs about a potential move. They can of course negotiate with their current club, but can also negotiate with 10/15/20 other clubs if they wanted to in order to get the best deal

Back in the day, when wrestlers were in the winding down period of their contracts, either their last 60 or 90 days, they were allowed to talk to other companies. I'm pretty sure that's when Scott Hall made the deal with WCW in 1996. Is it not like that now?

This is probably true. They will get a tag team title run but tht will probably be the extent of their success. The way WWE runs is they have plans in place for the talent they have already so any new talent will have to wait in line for their turn. I kinda agree with it tho

I’m confused as to why Konaan seems to be saying that the network could not get tv ratings because of the soccer thing and the Olympics. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding something. But it sounds almost as though the network only pays to get certain programs rated.
I get the feeling that they are tired of being treated the way they were because of Tony's deal with CMLL
problem is i doubt wwe wll use them right. penta can do the lucha underground style snap the arm crazy guy who u never want to wrestle,
and fenix ca be the underdog luchador who beats the odds to win the intercontinetal title, then be elevated to bigger spots for both of them like the elimination chamber, extreme rules, tlc matches then after people are use to them being serperate have one of them help the other out and form a tag team in wwe as heels.

They did the Lucha Bros dirty.. They were so over.. That match with the dumb spiked shoes spot inadvertently hurt them.. Penta is so cool and Rey is far better of a worker than people realize.. We never even got a really focused program with them and FTR which is a crime
not a single lie told here! both of them were amazing in LU, Penta was a rockstar there but Fenix was just starting to get his star rising when it went belly up. HOPEFULLY, if the Lucha Bros dont end up in WWE for whatever reason, we do end up with a FTR vs Lucha Bros storyline for the world titles, since im 99% sure they are beating the Young Bucks for them at Wembly.

The was a suppose plan to get them & Pac in a Trio's Tag run but that is not happening. They appeared as a trio in CMLL but Pac went alone the following week when MJF also made the backstage segement for CMLL, either the Lucha Bros are waiting til the contracts end to announce what happens
