  • This video shows you how to replace a front strut on a 2014 Ford Fusion. This should work for Ford Fusions from 2013 to 2018 as the design has not changed.
    My battery in my camera died about half way through but it has all the important parts on how to remove the strut and describes how to install the new one.
    I purchased Monroe Struts with the coil on them form RockAuto (www.rockauto.c.... They have the best selection of most parts and are almost always cheaper than everyone else.

    Great video! I change my shocks last summer after a friend notice a distinct clinging noise which I concluded was the shocks. The sound went aways. I didn't get the best shocks, so now in paying for it because the noise has returned. I'm going to change out the struts again with quality ones this time. If the noise persist, I'll change my shocks with the help of your great video!

    Excellent video! This is also relevant for the 2013-2018 Taurus, you can add that to the title for more views. May have the tiniest differences, but TOTALLY helped me out! Thanks so much for taking the time to edit and share

    Nice tutorial. It's sad that the camera died or it would've been a perfect video. I'm about to give this a shot myself. Wish me good luck!

    Thank you! I am glad I noticed toward the end of your video that you also have a Hybrid. I have 2015 Hybrid. I have done struts on a '98 Cadillac, but that was a decade ago.

    This is very informative. I thought replacing these struts would be way more work but this looks pretty straightforward actually.

    You dont need to use anything to hold the head of the bolt it wont move because of how its built. Just need that 24 socket. Either use a impact, but if these bolts have never been taken out before, might want to use the socket with a power handle.

    This video literally ended on the part that I needed to see lol. When I go to jack up the wheel assembly, it puts pressure on the pinion and looks like it's going to pop it out. Everything bows out in such a questionable way that I feel like I'm going to break something.

    We had ours replaced at the same time we had the transmission out for a rebuild. That was about 3 years ago. The strut mounts are making noise again. I haven't decided if I'm doing it or paying someone. The kids are gone and my wife can't help me.

    How is the ride quality with the Monroe quick struts, I need new front suspension and I’m afraid of compromising the ride quality. Did you notice much difference? Would you recommend them?

    • @TheDamaddog

      Sorry for the late reply. Yes the ride is really good. Going over pot holes and bigger bumps was terrible before and acceptable now.

I was also confused because on the Rock Auto website some struts are shown as left and right, but from what they told me at Monroe Tech support it is the same both sides 272638 is the part for a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid.

    I am changing my struts on a 2013 and I am having trouble getting the top nut in. of the bottom two on the bottom of the strut. Any advice? I put the bottom one in first and tightened the sway bar.

    • @TheDamaddog
      @TheDamaddog  2 роки тому

      Are you talking about the three bolts that you need to put in from under the hood? If so the key is that you need to twist the whole strut so that they line up on top. Easiest if you use a jack to hold or have a second person. The second person is best best they can be looking on the top and try to insert the first bolt while someone else twists the strut.

    How many miles were on the original set? I have 95k on my 2014 and am probably going to replace mine in the next 6 months, along with my brakes. I'm hoping the bolts and nuts aren't rust welded on with being in Michigan. I replaced the shocks on my wife's van and had to end up taking it in to a shop for the rear shocks because I couldn't get the bolts loose.

    • @TheDamaddog

      So I am also in Michigan (Ann Arbor area). I had just under 120,000 miles. Should have done earlier. They were pretty hard to break the bolts loose but I was able to do it myself.

    Wow Ford... just about everyone else’s strut design has studs coming out of the top of the strut but these genius’s make it harder to catch the top by using bolts instead of stud/nuts 😓

      @@TheDamaddog ok. Thank you. One more question. Is there anything specific that I need to be aware of? I ask because I’ve done both front assemblies, however, on the driver side (was the good side) is now making a popping/clicking noise when I turn the wheel. The original bad side was the passenger side but it seems to be all good. I’ve gone through it twice. What am I missing? Over torquing?

    • @TheDamaddog
      @TheDamaddog  3 роки тому +1

      Not really sure. A popping noise is different. Let me do.some research on torque and see if that could causing a problem. Did you use a torque wrench to tighten the nuts up? If so what did you torque it to?

    • @jarredwhite1446
      @jarredwhite1446 3 роки тому

      @@TheDamaddog no I don’t have a torque wrench. The 2 main bolts from strut to knuckle I tightened really tight. Breaking them free was very difficult so I assumed they needed to be tightened way down. Same with the sway bar to upper strut. Not as tight as the lower 2 but tight non the lass.
