@ petrospetrosghali, the "inane female co-commentator" is a world champion rower, and olympic medalist in the single sculls. 10 weeks before these olympics a German pair crashed into her boat and tore her entire calf muscle off, and then she rowed to a third place in these games. 2 hours before this race she pulled off that feat. You try rowing to 3rd in the Olympics and then delivering commentary 2 hours later.
After 2000m of rowing,,,just 1m diff,,,what a race!
Now Nearly 30 Years Later 8 Rowing Women’s Team Canada Now Won Gold Medal
5:30 Great catches
Great row for the Canucks! But how 'bout that last 30 strokes of ROMANIA...!!!
Epic race! One more stroke and Romania has it! 5-10 more meters longer course. But kudos to the Canadians. You don't just get out ahead of the best in the world and hold on by a hair just out of luck.
Romania have missed it by one single stroke. If only they started their spurt one stroke earlier! But that is not to take it away from Canada. Epic race from Canadian eight!
Canada did the same to the US in LA 1984. Took it out and held on. (BTW Both teams beat the boycotting Russians and East Germans in Lucerne before the Olys.
Andrew Crosby is my uncle
Watch the LM4- from the 2010 worlds. ~7 inches, but to third.
Do you know if there is a copy of the womens 8+ floating around?
Super cursa. Te zbarlesti
Thanks for posting. Inane commentary though from the female co-commentator: "look at their faces, they're really pushing hard." Wow.
