I have this Bible and I really like it. I was looking for a compact Bible that I could use as an EDC that would fit in my bag and wanted something in leather that would be a bit more rugged and the large print was a nice bonus.
If you plan on everyday carrying this Bible [or any paste down Bible] do buy a tube of Elmers Craft Bond glue. My heart dropped when the corners began to separate from the leather binding. Fixed it, and now it’s even better than the day I bought it. I own two of these Bibles, they’re great, just keep this warning in mind.
I don’t know if the quality has gone down but I got this Bible recently and the paper was so thin the bleed threw was horrific making the Bible unreadable. Very disappointed in the quality.
I like the way Crossway does their red letter, it's almost a crimson to a burgundy color. Older red letter Bibles the red letter is just way too bright. Nice review Tim.
I have the trutone large print compact and it’s my favorite Bible to use everyday. It’s the perfect size to carry hiking or to work and big enough that I can read it regularly. Since I like to take my Bible with me, it’s perfect. I also have a Schuyler personal size Quentel that I’m afraid to use because it’s so beautiful. We’re very blessed (spoiled?) with our freedoms and resources.
Have you been able to find a case for the ESV Large Print Compact? I have the same one as you and I can't find a proper fitting case anywhere. I even asked (kinda begged) Crossway for a new box because mine got caught in the rain and was pretty damaged. I even offered to pay for it. Nope.
@@Yesica1993 If you were to describe your ideal case, what would it be like? I'm thinking handles, pockets, material, would you take it out of the case to read it or have it open with the case, etc.
@@nathanielotto258 (Sorry, just now seeing this.) I prefer cases that add as little size/bulk as possible to the Bible. So, no handle, no pockets. Material should be a bit water resistant. I almost always carry things in a bag/backpack. And I'm not going to the beach or near a swimming pool. But I want it to be protected if I do get caught in a downpour without an umbrella. I would take it out of the case for reading. I have heard that keeping the covers in the pockets of a case will eventually damage the spine. What I really wish is that all compact Bibles would come with a built in zipper! That would be perfect. But I suppose that would be too costly for the manufacturers and they'd have to pass on that cost to the customers. Ah, well. "First world problems", as the saying goes.
I love this bible for the feel of the leather, the classic look on the spine, the bold clear 8-point font and how it lays flat at most places despite being a compact. It’s a great carry and desktop bible. Only gripe is some ghosting but as Tim has mentioned, the line-matching makes it tolerable. Great value for the price 👍 One of the best compact around that also looks like a premium bible.
I have this in the Trutone. I'm wondering if it's the exact same thing, only with the fancier cover? Or is the paper different as well? So far, I can read it pretty well. But my eyes are getting worse the older I get. If it had just bit better paper/less see through, that would be helpful. If it just had a ZIPPER, that would be perfect! I've been searching all evening for some sort of case and I cannot find one. Everything is too big. Regular book sleeves are too thin. I have to keep mine in its original, now beaten up (because it got caught in the rain) box. I even contacted Crossway to see if they could send me another box, even if I had to pay for it. But they could not. I'm assuming zippered Bibles are just too difficult/cost prohibitive for manufacturers to bother with it. But I wish they would consider it at least for these smaller Bibles. They exist to be easy to take with you. And as careful as I am, they do still need a case.
Hey brother! Kind of off topic here but I would love your advice on something. I saw a kjv study bible full-color edition on amazon for a pretty cheap price. Since im not from the states im not too familiar with amazon and how they operate (if their products are legit and so on). It says it's one left!!... but would hate to buy something that isn't what it was said to be. Would you recommend them? Another thing is when I look at the descriptions of the other kjv study bibles, i have the option to change from leather imitation to genuine leather etc. But on the one I'm looking on there are no options, only a text that says "bound". I don't know what that means ? Does it mean that there aren't no options besides the one they're selling or, is it maybe a biblical term I'm not familiar with that is actually the reason for it being so cheap haha? Would love ir if you could help ease my mind a bit brother, thank you 🫡
This is a great little Bible! I have one and can attest to each of your conclusions. I think this is the same text block as the new Alpha with it just being a bit “stretched” out.
Yep, exactly. The Alpha has slightly wider margin space and much better paper. I'm curious to know if the line spacing (leading) is the same between this and the Alpha.
I really wish Crossway would gussy up their text blocks a bit. There's a certain appeal to simplicity and conservative design, of course, but all their Bibles are just so PLAIN. Compared to some of the offerings from a company like Thomas Nelson or even Holman in certain cases, they blow Crossway out of the water in terms of layout.
Then why are you here watching this video? Seems you're only here to cause division. There are verses that explicitly teach against doing that, and especially amongst brothers in Christ. Look them up in your KJV.
Good for you. We are all clapping at your amazing pronouncement. Next time say it in Elizabethan English, with 400 year old words we don’t use or understand any longer. Just to feel superior to the rest of us plebes.
It is a handsome Bible, it’s just a shame Crossway couldn’t find other alternatives like Lego than have it printed in China as that surely will turn off a lot of people.
It really is a shame that they can't produce this great little carry anywhere Bible with better quality paper. I've read through most of this one and the paper is pretty mediocre. The only way to get it in better paper is to pay and arm and a leg for their new Alpha edition, and I'm not willing to shell out that kind of money.

The ESV LP is what I take to church. Very portable and easy enough to read, to follow along during the sermon

Hi Frisch, hope you are well! I was wondering how does it compare size wise to the PSQ and Pitt Minion?
I unfortunately do not currently still have a copy, but I think it's a little smaller than the PSQ and a little thicker than the Pitt Minion.
It would be nice to know what the size is in inches.
I’d like a wide margin center column reference bible from Crossway.
Can you review the Nkjv the Spirit filled life Bible?
Is there a Bible with larger print than this?
Not in a compact size to my knowledge. I have some reviews of ESV large print thinlines that have 10 point size print
The NLT Compact comes in Giant Print 10 font and Thomas Nelson has a single column reference Bible in the NKJV 9 font
There's an ESV Large Print Personal size with a 12 point font.
Can this fit in a pocket in pants?
It would be a little big for most pockets
Compact bibles should be either verse by verse or large print

I much prefer the plainness of it, it's part of what drew me to Crossway's Bibles. Red letters and other visual clutter distract me from the text
I would never have ESV. I only trust the tried and true, 400+ years old, KJV AV.
