I walked the entire Camino 800km with this pack .... and I am hear to tell you that after having literally tons of packs .... this is without doubt the most comfortable pack Ive ever owned, Osprey have really nailed it with that Airspeed system. The one thing that could make this pack the best pack EVER .. would be if Osprey put a large mesh pocket on the back instead of the two pocket system currently in place. BUT ... absolutely great pack and very very durable ! This is the one !
I have the previous years model of the Stratos 50 L and it’s actually my go to pack for traveling overseas. Unlike my Atmos 65 & even my Talon 44 which are very tall packs...the Stratos 50L is wider and less tall which is perfect for carry on. It also has internal access via a front zipper much like a suitcase so it is easy to get to items quickly when I arrive at my hotel or hostel. 👍🏼
Thank you for your reviews! I was originally going to get the Sirrus 36 (women's version) but ended up getting both the Sirrus 24 and the Sirrus 50. I day hike mostly, but also needed a pack for overnights. Watched all of your reviews - thank you again!!
Great review chris. I have the osprey aether 85l green. And just purchased The aether 85 medium blue For my partner. Swn this lockdown is over we'll wild camping. Keep up the great work with vids. 👍👍👍
Comprehensive review.....I’ve just recently bought the 70 litre Aether ag after your review...‘i said I’d let you know how I’m finding it?.....been out for a few good walks with it fully loaded and I’m very impressed..it effortlessly let’s you carry the weight without any bother it’s hard to fault it tbh...it’s early days yet so I will keep you updated when I’ve used it more and for multiple days 👍🏻
Great review! I just decided to return my Stratos 36 in exchange for this as hiking overnights in the fall months would leave no room for extra layers using the 36l. My guess as to the use of bright green rain covers on all the packs would be to create a easier way to locate a lost or injured hiker on the trail. A black pack and black rain cover might not be very conducive for a SAR situation. Just a guess 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for the awesome review! Unfortunately I can't find one anywhere for sale. Is there a pack that is similar in volume that you recommend as an alternative? I'll be hiking the Camino de Santiago across Spain and need a good bag for the long trip. Thanks!
Hey Chris! Thank you for your video. I love your reviews, they're great. I have a question about Stratos 50 backpack - does this backpack has flap to cover it when top lid is detached? Greetings from Poland :)
It does not...it has a draw string to secure it...I think it should though. Thanks for watching Jakub. www.osprey.com/us/en/product/stratos-50-STRATOS50.html
Great review! I am a new subscriber to your channel and have watched two of your overnight camping videos. I am thinking of buying Osprey Stratos 50L to do my day-long or day-long plus overnight microadventuring. I am thinking of putting my camera gear in my sideways draw Lowepro ICU and putting inside this bag to draw out from side opening. I hope it works.
@@basecampchris That is what I planned to do, but the stores are closed. If I ever go to stores for a checking something out, I always buy from there to reward the sales clerks.
On the inside of the main compartment there's one elastic clip on each side. so you can drop the main compartment all the way to the bottom of the sleeping bag compartment..
Thank you for this great review. Like many of the previous guys I have also considered between the Stratos 36L and 50L for backpacking trips of 2-3 weeks. It will also be with me now the 50L. Although i like the front part of the 36L more. Though, the fact that the front part of the 50-liter version is not completely closed, gives you the opportunity to carry your worn clothes in it. What size would you recommend at 180cm body length? S / M or M/L?
Thanks for the review Chris it was great and was looking at one of these pack and wanted a 50L I have the big 70L aether and is a great pack but I wanted a good overniter pack and there you are showing it off...lol couldn't have been a been better timing so thanks again and happy trails my friend, be safe
Chris, comparing this backpack vs the Kestrel 48 which one would you recommend? I’ve had people telling me the Stratos is actually harder to fit things despite the extra 2L. What’s your take?
I’m still confused till now to decide between stratos and atmos..is there a big difference between them and is there a real difference between the AG models and the others?
The Stratos tend to be mainly day packs with lightweight overnight backpacking capability at the larger size....( Stratos 24, 34, 36 and 50 Liter ) while the Atmos is a dedicated overnight backpack with two options 50L and the 65L. I believe the Atmos just has the AG while the Stratos has the Airspeed suspension.
I would look at them side by side and see what you think...even if you can only see them on the internet...compare the specs and features and see what works best for you.
58L has a little more room...depends a lot on what you are doing with these packs ( long day trips/ short overnighters/ extended trips ) I'd try and compare side by side if possible and see what works for You. Even online side by side can work with photos/ specs and info...."Keep Hiking!"

i was hesitating btw the stratos 36 and 50. and I decide to come with the 50 after your videos. very helpful 👍
Glad that was helpful! Keep Hiking!
@@hi.kingharry Stratos has better ventilation
same with me right now. and what was the deal breaker you chose the 50 rather than 36?

I use this one for multiple day hikes in refuges/hütten/rifugi..... perfect size. Very handy.
Very cool/ great size...not too big - not too small!
Nice looking backpack!! 50L is that sweet spot not to big yet big enough for multi day! Hope you had a good Easter Chris!!
Thank you Tim! I did....even got out and did a short hike. Enjoy your day!
Perfect review! Just bought one - i love it :-)
Enjoy! Thanks for watching,
Good review. I have 2 Osprey packs and like them both. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.

Are extremely comfortable with anti gravity technology.
I really recommend you get one if you dont own one

i was debating between this and the stratos 36, looks like itll be the 50 ill be getting. thanks for the review

That's a good guess...if they had to pick one color for all.that would be a good reason to pick that green.
36 L was not enough for 2D1N? I am considering to pick the 36 rather than 50. but from your comment above, I cant decide yet.
Thanks for the reviews. Do you recommend the Stratos or the Atmos 50 for hiking/camping and which one is most versatile for travelling. Thanks again!
I use the Atmos 65 as my work horse. Both are good. I would compare features on both and see what works best for you. Keep Hiking!

Hello! Would you buy the stratos 50 instead the atmos 50? and...Why?
side access to the main compartment
I bought the 36 to try and squeeze it for a 3 day hike. Too small even tho I have light and compact gear.
Nice pack!! Looks durable
Very solid pack...thanks for watching.

Chris, comparing this backpack vs the Kestrel 48 which one would you recommend? I’ve had people telling me the Stratos is actually harder to fit things despite the extra 2L. What’s your take?

Hi Chris, what's the difference between small/medium and medium/large? How should I decide which one to get? Thank you.
here ya go...( IN3 is cubic inches )
S/M 2868 IN3 / 47 L 25.6H X 14.2W X 15D IN. 3.557 LBS.

Hi Chris, good video as always.
What is the difference between Kestrel 48 and Stratos 50? they look the same.
I'd compare side by side ( even online ) you'll see some differences.
@@basecampchris what do you prefer between that both?
Does anyone have any idea why the Stratos 50L is no longer on the official Osprey site? Has this been replaced by the 44L?

different layout of pockets and ways to load gear...both solid packs.

Me gusta una mochila completa para lo que necesitó
sí, el 50 está en el extremo pequeño de un paquete nocturno ... Por lo general, voy con mi Atmos65L ... mucho espacio.
I want one.
Tnx
O my gosh
You should do an update video on how its performing and
hi I am from Indonesia. can only dream of having an osprey bag, the price is expensive and I don't have enough money to buy it
Sorry to hear you cannot get a nice pack...Osprey may have used ones that you could get for much less.
