Are you decorating for the holidays yet? It can be a big job, but doesn't have to be ... Get my tips for easy & elegant Christmas decor! Then relax & enjoy the festivities. 🎄
My Soulful Home I’m trying to finish my tables in livingroom and dining room tonight! Oh the fireplace😬. Late start for me this year. I know that mentally I’m tired because it doesn’t look good to me😜. I’m normally done weekend after Thanksgiving. I’m actually giving away all of my silver and white. I’m tired of storing so much Christmas! I’m missing my faux fur/crystal high heel ornaments!😢
Less is MORE! Take a deep breath & enjoy what you have created so far. guess what that might just be enough. Thanks for coming by this busy time of year. Be Merry & Enjoy!!
I’ve been watching your videos all weekend! I am glad to see someone else matches their dogs to their home’s interior.😉 For me, it’s three cream and golden collies. And like you, I have no shortage of matching throws and blankets to protect “their” sofas. Thanks for the lovely videos! I have found myself in my “new” kitchen, pulling out my ironstone all day after watching you decorate. We did a “freemodel” this fall and sanded down our dark cabinets to bare wood. It was a lot of work, but a great result for the small price of a little sander and some sandpaper! I LOVE freemodels! Especially when you are delighted with the result! Now the ironstone is coming out of the pantry. ☺️. Love your home and all the love and care you have put into restoring it. Antiques and uniques make it special and you have found some treasures!
Camilia - so great to connect! Thank you for watching & for the fabulous terms you taught me "freemodel" and "antiques & uniques". I am recording a podcast all about kitchen cabinets this week. Can I share your "freemodel" ? Podcast: Decorating Tips & Tricks decoratingtipsandtricks.com Thank you for coming by and joining in the conversation!
My Soulful Home Of course! I need to get with the program and figure out how to share photos and do podcasts, etc. I’m a little behind on the tech times-too busy with dogs and decorating! I love old homes, good antiques and French bread boards are my newest passion. 🤗. So fun!!
Oh that is our tiny Eve - third of three rescues. I didn't even now she was down there until after we wrapped up the taping. :) . Thanks for coming by Mayra!
Thanks for your video. I can see what you mean about your tree, the way you have it decorated makes it look like a jeweled tree. Never thought I'd want a silver tree!
I didn't think so either Anne! Now I love it. We'll have a real tree in the living room with all the family ornaments, but I do love having this one in the kitchen where I can enjoy it so much of the day. Thanks for coming by...
Great tips! 🤗 We usually decorate with fresh pine. Unfortunately we had to take down our tree early this year. So now I'm looking for a place to source cuttings. 🤔
Maybe head to a local tree yard & ask for or to buy the branches they cut off the trees. Trader Joes sells bunches of greens at a pretty reasonable price. Thanks for coming by!
What a lovely video :-). Its really really nice :-). Plus a great way to get prepared for the happy christmas holidays :-). Sorry if this sounds racially offensive but loads of American citizens are really big with the Christmas celebrations and certainly the Halloween celebrations too I must say :-). But its perfectly fine I know its American nature :-). Its certainly the natural instinct for American people too :-). I'm definitely well aware of that despite the fact I'm not an American citizen :-). I'm English if you didn't know. But British English just to point out :-). But british people are also equally as keen as celebrating Christmas too as its a great tradition :-). I love Christmas as its also a time for family get togethers and so forth :-). I'm quite new to seeing your channel and I see you really like taking videos of your pretty home :-). I hope your home is successful with looking gorgeous :-). Plus you really really are a soulful lady who is incredibly devoted and passionate about your pretty home I must say you really really are :-). I nearly sank into a reverie whilst watching the first parts of your video because you have gorgeous hair and not to mention a very pretty appearance I must say :-). I don't quite share your interest as I'm an avid trainspotter and transport enthusiast and aswell as revering transport I quite like poetry and I'm also a really keen with history and I enjoy learning about history as far as the 11th century and the Tudor Times, BR history and lots of other things :-). I hope you don't mind me asking you but where abouts in the USA are you from? Its just you have a very Californian like accent within its dialect :-). In my opinion of course :-). But I really do like the look of your pretty home my dear lady and I do like the look of homes with heritage designs and old fashioned things related to it but its ok if all homes aren't like that because then we'd be living in a dull world if all homes looked completely the same :-/. Plus all individuals including yourself and myself have different interests at heart :-). But I hope all is well my dear soulful lady and take great care of yourself :-). All the best dearest Kelly and I'm looking forward to viewing your channel again at somepoint in the future :-). From your new friend Foxy :-).
Foxy - it is lovely getting to know you thru your comments. I adore the UK, having spent a year living in London and traveling about quite a bit. I guess I am a bit of an Anglophile. I do live in California now, but I am from NY. It is wonderful that people have all different types of interests and that we can share them on social media and get exposed to all sorts of things. Thank you for taking the time to watch.
Hello there Kelly :-). Its my very pleasure and thanks for being so thankful :-). How lovely Kelly :-). I'm really happy to hear that you adore the UK and really? You lived there for a year once? In Greater London? How nice :-). Oh ok you live in California now but you're originally from New York (NY) Kelly? That is certainly exciting news :-). One of my mothers friends lives in New York :-). She's also been to New York before actually :-). It certainly is in a fair number of ways :-). Yes :-). But yes Kelly thanks for your generous words and your kindest reply and have a nice evening :-). From Foxy :-).
Awesome tips, as always. Thank you so much for a wonderful video. Will definately do the greens and ornaments in a bowl. Your hair looks great by the way.
Thank you so much for these tips Kelly! My decorating is done...except my little tree which has been giving me a real problem! Your tips to use greenery and to cluster the balls just resonated with me because I believe it will help the tree come together! My grandsons from Mississippi are coming here to Canada from University to have Christmas with us, so I really want everything to be just right! Merry Christmas to you and yours, and a very blessed 2020 also!
Odessa that is so wonderful that you are hosting your grandsons this Christmas. I am sure everything will be beautiful, but remember they are coming to see YOU not t hat decorations, so don't stress it. All the best to you & yours this holiday season. xx
Oh me too!! We were just talking about this on the podcast - Christmas Light Do it Right - episode. Capsule Christmas decor - like one's wardrobe. Listen here: www.decoratingtipsandtricks.com/386
The branches on which the ornaments are clustered I found just like that at the estate sale. So separate from the tree. I tuck them like picks into the tree. There are also several clusters of 3 large balls tied with ribbon. Isn't it a great tree decor tip?!
Love your ideas for easy, elegant- my husband finally gave into a beautiful faux tree after many years...we have tons of ornament from many years...I would like to simplify though, and I especially like your fresh greens, and ornaments in a bowl- the tree with clustered ornaments is just gorgeous, too! ☺️💕🌲🎄🏡🎁💕
Hi Diana - thx for coming by! May I suggest if you want to simplify purge before putting all your Christmas decor away this year. It is easier to let go after the glow of the holidays has passed and then next year you will start with less. For now, enjoy every minute...
You have set us free! Such good advice ... so we can enjoy the holidays without stress but still with grace and elegance. Thank you Kelly! You are awesome!
Me either Gaye! I don't let the thumbs downers get me down. ( I can't imagine giving someone a thumbs down for creating something & giving it for free.) Thank you for wondering too! ;) Merry Christmas & THUMBS UP to YOU!
Bonjour ! I so totally agree with you on that topic. It is not necessary to change the entire house for Christmas. Some year I do change my décor completely others not so much, I keep it simple and classic ; it depends of the inspiration. Thank you for sharing your tips - Wishing you and your family a Happy New year !!
Kelly-question., could you talk about table runners? IE, if I have a long dining room table AND a long narrow table in the same room-if I use table runners do they have to be the same or can they be different but compatible? Can't seem to find anyone talking about this?
Hi Victoria - I think you can use compatible runners on two tables in the same room. I would keep them both simple/neutral. For example a blue grain sack runner and a solid blue. If one is a pattern, then the other should be a solid that picks up a color in the other. Hope this helps! Merry Christmas!
In the US you overdecorate your tree so in fact you never see the tree in fact. I prefer it simpler with ribbons and lights and a few nice bulbs. In Europe we like to see the tree. Thank you. Your house looks lovely
Lovely and elegant. I started clustering ornaments several years ago. I just wire three ornaments with floral wire and use the end of the wire to attach to branches. Thanks for the tips 😊

Wow, thank you!
Oh wow, I love the clustered decorations! Are the branches she put them on part of the tree or in addition to the tree?

I do love a German feather tree Claudine. My mother in law still uses real candles on her tree. Thank you for watching & enjoying in the conversation.
Lovely and elegant. I started clustering ornaments several years ago. I just wire three ornaments with floral wire and use the end of the wire to attach to branches. Thanks for the tips 😊
Brilliant way to securely "cluster"! Thanks for the advanced tip :)
Happy holidays love all your great tips
